The beach is picturesque with cliffs, sandy areas, and rocky sections, which add to the natural beauty. The woods are awesome, but parking has to be reserved ahead of time. The drive down can be a bit nerve-wracking wracking, as the road gets very narrow and winding towards the middle. Overall, it was a great family trip or day trip just to enjoy some sun and sightseeing

GREAT PLACE TO HIKE!!! The beach looks nice, is very wide and deep and had a good deal of activity even on a cooler day. The hiking around the beach is so good. Take the fire road to the ridge and then continue along the coastline trail. It’s uphill to the ridge but then balances out some. The views are amazing. Picture opportunities at every turn. The parking lot is large and it seems to turn over at rate that makes it easy to find a spot - at least when I visited.

Easily accessible trailhead with tons of parking, get here early! Trail is a nice boardwalk into a fine sandy beach with tons of space. Very little shade on the beach and hike in but ample space. Watch out for sneaker waves but check out the tide pools during low tide!

Beautiful spot to sit and watch the waves roll in. There are also miles of hiking trails accessible from the beach parking area. Amazing views around every corner. Arrive early the parking lot fills up quickly.

Pristine and low traffic beach in the bay area. We went there as part of a hiking trip and it was absolutely worth it. The beach isn't big but it's very clean with a black sand touch to it. Generally less crowded even over the weekends. Must visit early in morning if you can. The drive to the beach is also amazing with gorgeous views and forest area. - Free parking - No beach charges - Swim friendly no rocks - Clean - Low traffic - Pet friendly

How can you go wrong? Beautiful drive to get there, beautiful beach, classic California coastline. But I do recommend bringing a beach wagon to cart your belongings because it's a bit of a walk from the parking lot, or farther, to your preferred spot on the beach. Dogs are welcome and off leash is allowed, but be extra sensitive to the heat of the sand for their little doggie paws. The cove to the far right, where nude sunbathing is allowed, also has the most amount of mussels I've ever seen and anemones at lower tide, fun!

The beach was amazing! The rocks are covered in sea life. The parking lot gets packed fast so get there early.

Secluded, clean, fairly calm beach connected to some trails and accessible for horses! Parking lot closes an hour after sunset but is free, has bathrooms and water fountain. Short scenic coastal walk to the beach including a rustic bridge. Known for a local crabbing spot but I did not catch anything but was mostly practicing my cast.

Beautiful beach and I loved the walk across the bridge to get to the views. I would always encourage visiting both Muir Overlook and Muir Beach on the same day. A wonderful combination for a family adventure.

I really liked this beach as it was not crowded and a beautiful place. The one downside was that there weren’t many shells or beach glass though I know that only interests a small group of people. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Oh also be prepared to not have service around this area especially if you have t mobile.

Muir Beach is a nice little beach where one can go to enjoy some spare time. The sides of the beach are rocky, so you have to be careful when you are near the rocks. The sand is very fine for my liking though. There is a trail near the beach which takes one on top of a small hill where the views of the Pacific Ocean are stunning. We saw people with surfboards and some were kite-surfing. The parking lot is big. It's about 0.2 miles from the beach. The lot gets full and one might have to wait for a spot on weekends. Lovely little beach overall.

We dropped by last Sunday prior to our reservation to Muir Woods National Monument. It was cold and overcast but well worth the visit. The rock formations on the beach was beautiful. It was free to park and the walkway to the beach was nice.

Absolutely worth a return trip. Beautiful beach. Has fire pits too. Bring your own firewood because there's none there. It's .2 miles from parking lot to the actual beach. Not much of a walk (to me) at all.

Very nice beach!!! The sand is course and soft, and fires are allowed on the beach, which is good because this beach is typically VERY COLD and cloudy!!! Which can make swimming almost impossible if you're not very thick skinned. But other than that it is a very nice place to take your family or somebody you love or even visit by yourself. However last time we were there there were 2 naked women doing what looked like a p*rn shoot off to the right, somewhat occluded side of the beach and that was pretty weird. Idk if that's a regular occurence but that's what we saw
