My first visit to Baba Chews and to be honest I was expecting a traditional Peranakan family style meal. To my surprise, the menu has a very western influence and I had a fusion Italian meal! It was an interesting twist for my taste buds and it has my thumbs up! Definitely will be back!

We informed the waitress, she explained that it took a little longer as the restaurant is currently full and orders are submitted at the same time. The noodles are undercooked, the sauce is flavorless, and where’s d crab lumps? It's more like crab bits.⁣⁣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, quite disappointed on our first visit and bought my aunty here cos it’s her birthday! The staff could have informed us of the delays. It's not worth the 45-minute wait for their main courses. None of their mains are particularly strong. ⁣⁣ Request for checks and feedback to one of the staff Elisa. She took note of the comments and returned with a small note asking if she could surprise my aunt with a birthday cake. ⁣⁣ It's a thoughtful gesture, and she even sings the birthday song with us. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We ordered a slice of ondeh cake to go for our grandmother at the end of the day.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Why 2 stars rating? 1 star for the starters & cake 1 star for Elisa

Nice ambience. Nice deco, good lighting and pleasant. Instagrammable! Staffs were all friendly. We enjoyed our meal. We liked all the food that we ordered except for pork satay. It wasnt to our expectation, should have keep the traditional satay, their satay is more of kebab taste. But it was only the satay, the rest were all fine. My son liked the burger so much that he did not even offered us to try a small bite 🤣. We ordered kway teow, nonya fried rice, rendang pita and otah you tiao. I personally recommend and must try the pita rendang and you tiao. To complete the experience, its a must to try the kueh durian. We loved it (not just like). Its a crepe with durian and gula melaka filling topped with a scoop of ice cream. You wont regret it. 👍👍 Oops for the price, I should say reasonable. For a fam of 4 and ordered 5 dishes for sharing, dessert and drinks and paid total of $170+.

Friendly staff, chill setting and interesting interpretations of fusion peranakan food. Had the otah youtiao (fritters), chilli crab cakes, Kopi ribs, chicken rendang lasagne, fried rice, char kuay tiao and their specialty chendol. The unexpected winner for me was the char kuay tiao. Coming in at $17 a plate, we didn’t have high hopes for it as we wanted a carb to share, but were really impressed by the “wok-hey”, flavours and generous serving size. My second favorite was the otah youtiao which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (because otah), followed by the theatrical chendol, which was cracked open by a spoon. Overall a pleasant experience and a good place to spend a lazy weekend lunch.

Food took a while to be served. Ordered Asam curry and beef cheeks and when they arrived, food was warm, not hot and no steam. My friend and I had to check if it was cooked. Real disappointment. Not cheap either

If you have in mind the usual traditional Peranakan food, this is not the place for you. The dishes are more fusion-modern and bar-like. Food is generally appealing to taste buds, staff comes across as friendly, what I really love is the interior aesthetics and vibes. Certainly interesting for an experience, but perhaps not a return visit, and the prices tend to be a little high.

We had an amazing time at Baba Chews by Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong Baba Chews 86 E Coast Rd, Katong Square, Singapore 428788 This restaurant is located at Katong Square and runned by the IHG hotel group. They have a very interesting menu A fusion between Peranakan and Western cuisine The ambience is fantastic! With cozy seats and top notch service from staff Shout out to Irene the restaurant manager and her staff who cared for our table so much! Fun thing is, you bring your pets and enjoy the food as well at their outside seating area specially catered to pet parents! Ambience: 9/10 Small bites: We ordered chilli crab cakes ($18) and kueh pie tee ($10) Mains: Fish collar ($26) Chicken lasagne ($21) Char kway teow ($18) Ayam buah keluak ($25) For mains the best dish was the chicken lasagne It has Baba’s special chicken rendang, spiced bechamel and mozzarella You cant go wrong with char kway teow But, it was less oily which was good! The fish collar was something interesting but superb It has assam emulsion, tau pok crisps and bonito! Dessert: We had the ondeh ondeh cake I must say you must try the cake, because it was so moist and flavourful. Food: 10/10 Abit expensive but is an atas restaurant k!

Pro: -Staff polite and friendly - rendang lasagna super delicious(pic below) - jumbo satay portion is like main meal. Super flavourful and yummy. - ice lemon tea is perfect - Nice environment Con: - wagyu bun is disappointing. Meat is quite hard and chewy. Not like how I expect a brisket to be. Couldn't swallow some. Bun is dry. Portion is small. More like small bites than main meal. - honey lemon too sweet

Here for the four-hands collaboration and got to try dishes of very different cuisines. Very friendly staff and delicious food! Weekend lunch seems slightly crowded do make a booking if you can! There's a beautiful outdoor area that is pet-friendly!

Great dining experience here at Baba Chews. Made reservations here for my mum's birthday and indeed she enjoyed the food. We ordered the following ; • Kueh pie tee prawn and kombu cocktail • Prawn oil kombu • Ayam buah keluak • Our style chendol (which was really special) Special thanks to Marivel and Alex who served us very well during our dining experience on the 8 January 2023. Will be back again!

Service excellence goes to Marivel and Aeron. We had a great dining experience because of them. Food was great too! Kudos to the Chef!!! I couldn't say anything bad for the ambience of the restaurant as it bring more effect to the experience.

Love the atmosphere here. There was a special menu today. The two of us ordered the beef rendang rice that was soooooo tender and delicious, grilled oyster which my partner loved, and the crab soup which was umami.

I came here 2 weeks ago for a End of Year Team Lunch, in which a special menu was created for our team. The food was a fusion of local, Peranakan and western take and presentation, balancing colours and taste for a festive lunch. It was such a joy tucking in to these delicious and pretty creations!

Nice cosy Asian fusion restaurant in the heart of Katong with stunning casual interiors. We came on a weekday evening, and only 3-4 tables were occupied. We had red wine and decided to have it along with the following : 1) Chilli Crab Cake - Nice crispy croquettes that pairs well with the chilli crab sauce. 2) Rendang Lasagna - Nice rendang sauce, that is not too fiery. Mix it well with the cheesy lasagna and you have a winner. 3) Salmon main served on a bed of mash potato, some noodles and veggies.

First visit was great. Satisfied with service and food. Second visit. Was served by another staff. Service was horrible. Not attentive. Was seated at another table. Stools were too low, uncomfortable way to dine. Asked for water. Received 2 bottles of still. Subsequently refills, only received 1 bottle. Final bill came for 2 bottles Am willing to pay for the 2 bottles. But problem was the staff was rude when we asked why we were charged 2 bottles. Very disappointed. Bad way to celebrate a birthday. Not returning

I had 12 days for breakfast during my entire stay in Hotel Katong. The staff here is super friendly and gives options for having vej food. I loved the egg Florentino here. You will easily get a place in morning to sit. Best part is morning juice shots. Love the cappuccino

Lovely soft and tasty well-toasted snack-level brioche bun on my East Coast Cheese Burger! Patty was nicely medium and slightly juicy. Decent toppings with a slice of folded bacon. Not bad. The Ayam Buah Keluak was also very good and service staff were friendly. Pretty decor and great vibe for a casual dinner date. Shiok.

Had a very good dining experience here. The food was great, esp recommend the assam curry, beef rendang, otah, & truffle fries. Cocktails were very good, too! Also special thanks to Ate Marivel's & Aeron's warm service. They were very attentive & gave really good recommendations! Good value for money!

Came during Sunday lunch and the place was not crowded. The staff were pleasant and efficient and recommended a few dishes. The beef rendang was tender but spicy. The chili crab pasta was average. Overall, the ambience was nice and while the food was not authentic Nonya but more fushion, it is an interesting place to differentiate from other more traditional ones.

It takes a while to locate this eatery but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice decor and surroundings. One minor grouse. They have changed their menu so what you see in the reviews may no longer be available. Customer service is good. We ordered the fried kwayyeow with prawns. It is good and comes with the wok hei. And it is not too oily. We also had the charcoal yutiao with otah. Another winner. Next up was the lasagne with cheese. We finished with a rice bowl with meat and onsen. Overall, food is decent. The menu could have been wider but given the current labor crunch, it suffices.

Made a last minute booking to Baba Chews on my recent trip to Singapore after hearing a lot about this place and was not disappointed. The dishes were fantastic, especially the Otah You Tiao and Short Ribs Rendang. True authentic Peranakan flavours paired with outstanding service by Marivel. She exceeded expectations and was great to have a chat with. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

As a guest of Hotel Indigo, we enjoyed their breakfast buffet and room service. The breakfast was included with our room rate so we took advantage and the staff was helpful to point out the vegan options and made us a veggie currie and roti to go with the buffet, we were full and taken care of. The fruit was a bit bland and the cappuccino was a bit bitter, but overall good variety for breakfast and we were full for hours. The room service came in clutch after being exhausted after a long day of walking and shopping. We ordered the Assam Curry Seabass, the Chap Chae, Sauteed veggies, and jasmine rice - we didn’t venture into the fusion dishes and kept it simple. Everything was flavorful, especially the Sea Bass, and it arrived quickly and piping hot, totally satisfying!

First visit to Baba Chews back in December 2021 with my parents, by chance. We were looking for a place to eat for lunch. They do serve up good peranakan food and my parents loved it. Serving sizes weren't large but great for tasting a variety of dishes.
