We had been visiting Linday Insel over Halloween with 3 friends (5 of us total). We planned to go here on the last day. When we walked in we waited at the counter, we kept getting told to move out of the way by seemingly annoyed waitresses (apologies, but there isnt any room to stand anywhere else). We stood for 5 minutes and then walked out. Once outside a friend of ours decided that she would go back inside to see if she could order a piece of cake to go. One of the waitresses outside told her yes that was ok and to go inside and order. When she tried to order, the waitress behind the desk told her no, and that they dont do takeaway cake. We all thought the experience was very odd and the service was poor with waitresses who clearly didnt want our business. We instead went to a cafe about 50 meters away (i will not say the name) but the man was still opening his cafe but was still very accomodating and friendly and we spent 2 hours there having a nice lunch. We were told that some places in Lindau arnt fond of tourists (Augustin seems like one of them) will advise friends to avoid in future. I am forced to leave a 1 star review as we were not permitted to experience the cafe

Amazing place for a stop when in Lindau to have a coffee and/or breakfast. Staff is extremely friendly, food is tasty and the place invites you to stay there and relax. They forgot about a cake we ordered (they left it in the oven so it burned), when we reminded them they brought us a new one and refused to let us pay for it as we had waited so long for it - that´s top service, specially for german standards :)

Lovely cafe even with homemade glutenfree cakes (but not a serious option for celiacs as it all gets prepared in the same kitchen, I had a reaction even though I’m not celiac)

After a decently long road trip around Lake Constance, stopping at Buchcafe Lindau was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the beauty that the Island of Lindau has to offer. I ordered a cappuccino and a slice of cherry cake, and I was very happy with both items. The vibe inside and outside of the cafe is one I can only describe as unique, and the tucked-away nature of the cafe in the first place made it fun to explore. When I return to Lindau, I know that this buchcafe will be at the top of my list of places I will be stopping first.

Excellent little café! And the prices are umbelievable. Very economical for such good quality. We had the onion quiche, pumpkin quiche and vegan almond cherry cake. They were super yummy. We can totally recommend this place!!

Sat outside, with a piece of excellent apple cake and a very satisfying coffee. You get a definite sense of people doing a great job out of an integral enthusiasm for the doing of it.

Let me introduce you to the best tea or coffee shop I have had the pleasure to visit, staff are wonderful, tea is perfect, decor is inspired and place is spotless. I had tea and an apricot tart and it tasted sublime, I recommend this place highly. Please respect the staff and tip well.

A very lovely place. Here you can drink hot drinks or taste deliciuos cakes or have yuor dinner sorrounded by books and art. If you are lucky you can find live piano music which it creates a good atmosphere. The cakes are good. The prices are cheap and a part of the staff is kind.

Nice and friendly place to hang out. Reasonable prices and good quality food. Self grinded coffee and self-baked quiche. You can chill out and read a few books. Good place for breakfast or a little break. Thumbs up!

THE bookshop! I absolutely love the place. The interior is like a huge living room with cosy furniture, beautiful decoration and bookshelves full of books you can read while you are there or buy if you got hooked. Their food is delicious, staff smiling and helpful. All bookshops should be like this. And who says people read less and less? The place is full of booklovers.

What a cafe!!! Although there are books in every nook and corner, it is unbelievably cosy. Good selection of cakes and vegan dishes (both sweet and savoury). And the prices!! It‘s like you’ve gone back in time 😃 2.40€ for tea, 1.70€ for coffee, aperitifs for 2.xx €! Definitely worth a visit

The best place in Lindau Insel to drink a hot beverage while reading one the books they have! The cakes are homemade too! When entering the place I had that familiar feeling of entering my grandma's home and I knew I had a hot coco and a piece of cake waiting for me. Totally recommend!
