We were SO happy to find this place on College street in Toronto! Being so far from home and craving authentic Egyptian food - this place was a Godsend. They even have shisha- yes please! The host was very friendly and the food was scrumptious! Can't wait to go back!

You absolutely need to try this restaurant for exquisite Egyptian Food in Toronto! Our server was amazing and she made our entire experience that much better. Everything we tried was so flavourful we would definitely go back for a second time + the drinks were delicious! From the menu we tried: - Falafel - Mediterranean Loaded Fries - Mixed Dip Platter (Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Mosaka) - Fattoush Salad - Garlic Shrimp Dinner - Koshari - Honey Bourbon Sour - Drunken Pharoah This spot has excellent ratings for a very good reason (it's worth the hype)!

Pretty good experience. Was looking for some healthier options and this place fit what I was looking for. Food was tasty and fresh. The atmosphere could be better. It was a bit over priced considering the location and level of the restaurant. I'd recommend it for takeout specials but not dine it.

If you are a fan of Mediteranian food, this is a must try. I ordered - Shish Tawook Dinner - Lentil soup For the dinner, you have multiple choices such as Vermicelli rice & salad, Gluten free rice & house salad, Rice & fries, Fries & house salad, Rice only and Fries only. You can also get grilled veggies, mashed potatoes and other types of salad. But you have to pay extra for them. My order was delivered on time. There were also two loaves of bread and a small Garlic sauce with my order. The Shish Tawook was fresh and tasted good. It was topped up with caramelized onion. The house salad had a dressing of olive oil and Zaatar. The lentil soup was mixed and smooth. So do not expect to see the lentils. I enjoyed the food and will definitely order from them again.

VERY VERY VERY RECEMMENDED ! The best Egyptian cuisine restaurant I ever visited since I left Egypt.. food is incredibly delicious and authentic flavorish. I tried bachamel.. woow, koshary is out of this world, shrimp takes you to Alexandria, beef liver is so yummy and the kabab (the beef cubes) is so nice and juicy. The ambiance is very Egyptian and the owner is so humble and funny and cares about his clients

We’ve dine in here a few times already and it’s about time to give review. Food here are absolutely appetizing . We’ve had lentils soup and eggplants, always excellent taste. The mains were Kefta and Grilled Beef were just so delicious. You can taste the different seasonings that were mixed into it. And unlike any other beef, this one is as tender as ever. We had Sana who served us, she was always attentive to our needs and surprisingly memorized all our orders without having to write them down, and Ofcourse the orders were correct ☺️ Lastly, the restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing and you can feel the Egyptian vibe. Overall, I think this place is underrated, I highly recommend to dine in and dig in. Amazing experience always ☺️

Ambiance was great. Good vibes and delicious food. Our server Maya was very friendly and cheerful. All dishes came at the same time. Hawawshi was delicious. Koshary was flavourful. Chicken was seasoned right. Molokhia was true to the Egyptian recipe. Washrooms were clean and well stocked on toilet papers. They also have shisha

Nile River is a bit of a hidden gem…I keep expecting everyone to know about it (and they should - it’s on College street, the food is great, and the space is large enough for a big crowd), but I end up being the one to introduce people to it. The location is large and the tables are comfortable. There is some Egyptian motifs in the decoration, but honestly not enough that it should be the main reason to visit. The main reason to visit is delicious and authentic Egyptian food. There are a few places around Toronto that claim Egyptian, but only a handful present authentic Egyptian style recipes, and this is one of them! (Yes, the falafels are made using fava beans!) Portion sizes and pricing are both fair. The service is very good: friendly and helpful. If you’ve not already been, I’d highly recommend a visit. 4.5/5 Stars For more recipes, reviews and travel, follow me on Instagram: @yamisohungry and @yamisosleepy !

The orzo soup was a great way to start my meal. The vegetable samosas were also a standout dish, with their flavorful filling. For the main course, we ordered the lamb and kofta dinner, and it did not disappoint. The lamb was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, while the kofta was packed with aromatic herbs and spices. The accompanying rice was fluffy and added the perfect balance to the dish. We couldn't leave without trying the desserts, and we were so glad we did. The rice pudding had the perfect texture. The kunafa was also very good. To top it all off, the waitress (unfortunately I forgot her name, she was Egyptian) was incredibly kind and attentive, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to experience authentic Egyptian cuisine. We were also told that there is a belly dancer and sisha on the weekend. We will definitely come back on a weekend night.

First time trying this restaurant and really enjoyed the food. Got seated immediately. The place is cozy with a bar in the back. Food is excellent. Really enjoyed the Kefta and shish tawouk. Shish tawouk was very tender and perfectly spiced. Highly recommend! They also have fresh pomegranate juice which was refreshing. Also recommend their Molokhia signature plate. It's delicious paired with rice. Service is friendly.

I would come here just to eat the rice! Got brought here by some friends who were fasting for Ramadan and did not regret coming along one bit. Restaurant was extremely respectable and was offering dates to all customers to break their fast with. They currently also have a Ramadan special currently that offers a three-course meal with soup/salad, a super packed vegetarian/meat entree, and a dessert. My colleagues went with the meat special, but I decided to get the Grilled Lamb Dinner for my main. The table shared an order of falafel as well as two orders of Chicken Samosas. The falafels were decent, but the chicken samosas were excellent. Thin samosa wrap, with a really flavourful filling, highly recommend ordering. For the main, as mentioned, the Ramadan special is a large portion of food and my colleagues who were fasting could not finish it. For my lamb dinner, the lamb was cooked medium rare and was great. Wasn’t chewy, and seasoned well. The rice was also really good, I was even tempted to order another side order of it but ended up being full due to the sides. Was looking at what the tables around us ordered and there were some really nice dishes that I would love to try in my next visit, specifically one of the pasta dishes. If you’re looking for a good introduction to Egyptian food and outright a great restaurant on College, this is the spot.

Tried molokhia. Not experienced with Egyptian food but it's just rice with a garlicky-spinach like sauce. Will not ordered again. My friend tried Hawashi (meat sandwich) and said it was decent.. staff was nice.

Liked the food. The eggplant-based sides are great. They are mixed with a pomegranate sauce, creating an amazing taste. The main dish was large and full of carbs. Tasty and oily

Where do I begin? Perhaps that this place is worth the 2 hour drive. As someone who has to eat GF (gluten free) imagine my joy in finding a place that offers gluten free pita bread and they’re HUGE. They have all the other offerings too of course, not a small menu! I appreciate finding little spots that you know has regulars, and more than a few - that’s how you know it’s good. I recommend the Kofta - delicious place. Will be back again soon.

Atmosphere: They definitely try to make the restaurant feel authentic. I liked the interior decorations and the music. They do need to pay attention to the flies. There were a few and it was bothersome. That being said, I suspect in colder months that it won't be a problem. Service: Excellent. Servers were attentive and helpful. Presentation and Portions: Presentation is good and the portions are generous. Taste: It was good. Cost: Fair pricing. You get good bang for your buck. I was able to get an appetizer and main for the price range of $30-$40 and that included taxes and tip. Other: I recommend trying it.

I had an incredible dining experience at Nile River Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend trying their Molokhia - it's a must-try! I'll definitely be returning for more authentic Egyptian flavours.

We loved this restaurant so much! The belly dancer came out at 8pm and it was so so fun to dance with her. We also loved the food. We got lots of different plates to share.

What a gem! We ordered for delivery dangerously close to closing time after working late and the food came quickly and was fresh so delicious. Not only that, but my husband is gluten free which I was able to specify on all dishes we ordered. And THEN, an incredibly kind and sweet employee of the restaurant called me while the food was on its way to let me know that while my entire order was gluten free, they had accidentally included an additional item (bonus!) that wasn’t and let me know how to identify it so my husband didn’t eat it. So not only did we get a delicious, authentic, lovingly made me meal at the end of a long day that my tender stomached husband was able to eat it - But the restaurant gave us a free dish and an employee at the end of his own long day took the time to thoughtfully call me to make sure my husband wouldn’t eat something he couldn’t. If I could give 10 out 5 stars I would!

I had never tried Egyptian food before, but Nile River made it one of my favourites immediately. Fresh and tasty food, and always plentiful serving sizes! Take out or dine in are both great options!

I stopped here for lunch before my flight and it was worth the extra stop. The cauliflower dish was spectacular and the salad was perfectly dressed! The samosas were spot on too. I enjoyed my mint tea as well. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable especially because I am a vegetarian. Awesome experience!

Came here for lunch and had delicious food - my favourite was the fried eggplant! Such big portions I took sone to go. The atmosphere was homey and welcoming. The staff were so kind. Ahmed (owner) is a fabulous host! I’ll be back for sure!

Been here on a few occasions and it hasn't disappointed yet!! The food is super fresh and flavourful. The service is also amazing throughout my dining experiences. I haven't had the opportunity to explore most of the menu as of yet but everything was great. Facility is clean, prices are fair and portions sizes are quite good. Definitely a spot to try if you wish to have some authentic Egyptian food.

The first time I ate here I got the 1/2 bbq chicken dinner and it was great. Came back and ordered the grilled beef dinner and was thoroughly disappointed. It was mostly rice. The meal was $22 and I got a can of Diet Coke with it which came to nearly $30 for a huge container packed to the rim with rice, an extremely small portion of beef, with a side salad and piece of pita. It was tasty - but that was the most expensive steamed rice I’ve ever eaten. 7.5/10 on flavour, 2/10 on portion.

My wife and I just finished eating here and loved it! We had falafels as appetizers and they were so good- fresh, crispy and tender. My wife had chicken livers and she said were done perfectly. I had the 1/2 BBQ chicken- perfectly seasoned and delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert! We will definitely come back!

Amazing!! The food is absolutely delicious and soo reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The employees are very caring and thoughtful and check in frequently to make sure you're okay. The decor is super cute as well. Will be recommending this forever!

What great Place.. This was a company lunch for 40 people and i've never heard the team rave so positively about todays lunch.. and we have some pretty good lunches. The Food was fresh and authentically delicious! it was also hand delivered by the owner (which was a nice touch) I normally don't repeat orders, but Nile River will be in my rotation so we can continue to enjoy this great food and even better hospitality! Thank You Ahmed
