Outstanding stadium in the heart of the city. What a unique place this is with Roman remains still visible to the eye and lit up of an evening. The match ended up 2-1 to Milan which was revenge for the 2005 win for Liverpool. I was lucky enough to have five days here....great experience.

I've visited Athens over 10 times, but this was my first visit to this Olympic complex. It was built for the 2004 Olympics and consists of several venues for all sports. The complex is located in the northern Athens suburbs, so ignore some reviews here saying this is the historic marble stadium - IT IS NOT - that one is in downtown Athens. We visited it for the Iron Maiden concert held here on 16/07/22. Before the concert we walked around the huge complex grounds, seeing a lot of modern, but at the same time neglected architecture. The main stadium is certainly the biggest attraction - outstanding modern design. It reminds on Santiago Calatrava's architecture with an extensive use of curved metal structures (maybe even he is a designer, I don't know). The stadium inside is enormous - despite the fact there were 50.000 fans at the Iron Maiden concert it looked semi-empty - the upper seating ring wasn't even put to sale. Seeing that huge space and other semi neglected buildings around, I recalled an article I've read few years ago that the Greek financial crisis and bankruptcy started with organizing the Olympics.

Need more care about these facilities. So they can host more world events. These are the assets of the country and encourage to the youth of the future .

Good to visit once! Not maintained totally after the Olympics. Fully built with curved steel structures. Excellent & modern structural work. Indoor, outdoor swimming pools, race tracks & more. Close to Irene metro station. Also all the malls are near this area.

Looks abandoned, like no one takes good care of the place. Worth visiting only if you have spare time and don't know what to do with it. To get there you can take the metro

Visited one of the AEK Athens game in the national league, against Xanti Skoda. Really enjoyed the quality of the game but it was strange to see around 10k people at the stadium with 70k capacity... As I know the team will move to a new stadium, owned only by AEK and this location will be empty like the Olympic park...ghost district, decays more...

Maybe it is a one star attraction now but in 2004 it was fantastic. We visited both Opening Ceremony and the Athletics finals evening then Sweden got two Gold medals in High Jump and Triple Jump men. The same evening Justin Gatlin von 100 m in a fantastic race, but you know.... Thank you Athens for some marvellous weeks! Christer and Annki

A fantastic place, so huge, so spacious... You really enjoy being there. Plus, there is and public means of transportation to and from there, so one can go there quite easily!

Iconic Olympic stadium from 2004 however its been poorly maintained. The toilets are before the turnstiles so make sure you pay a visit before going through the turnstiles.

Powerful historical monument. The history of how the Olympic games started is really nice and important to learn. Auido guide comes included with the €10 entrance ticket.

Nice all-around area, stadium is superb with the fantastic Kalatrava construction. However needs definitely improvements. Pretty enjoyable for many sports and outdoor activities specifically for the kids.

Best stadium in Greece and one of the best in the world, especially after Calatrava additions for the 2004 Olympic Games

Been there for the Iron Maiden live. The only thing to say is this place has been left alone since it was renovated back in the early 00s. Bring your own soap and paper if you want to use the toilets (and wash your hands). At least the water is running. Embarrassing, amidst the Nth covid outbreak in the country.

i was here for Iron Maiden’s Legacy of the Beast 2022 Tour Concert. Crowd was fantastic, acoustics are great and the scale of the space helped the ambience .

The stadium is used, as well as some surrounding areas (the Agora) for events, sports related, and otherwise. Famous Athens football teams use it as their main venue, as well. It was temporary closed during the lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic. It's always a beautiful stadium, and well maintained.
