I accidently discovered this Museum when walking through the markets with my daughter. It is a small Museum, but an important one. No society thrives without women. It serves as a visual reminder to start more formally reminding people of the roles various women have played in shaping a village, town, city and country are important. People need to hear and see their work to remind them of the FACT that girls and women are capable to thrive and lead in all roles and areas of life. There are no second class genders. As a mother of a young teenage girl of Moroccan heritage is was an especially important place to visit to help remind her of the fact that women of the past had to fight for the rights she has today and the battle is far from won.

Really lovely local museum highlighting the importance of women in Morocco. Great place to learn more about women in this country and the young ladies running it were so friendly and smiley. Super reasonable entry, go visit and support their cause! They have a roof terrace too but we didn’t visit it

Museum spread over three floors where you can learn about trailblazing women who have contributed to many aspects of Moroccan society including the construction of the nation.  At the time of my visit there was a fabulous exhibition of the artist Hafidi Zizi who using a vibrant naive style depicts the daily lives of Moroccan women through her works.  There is a small shop where you can buy these and other items like posters from past exhibitions. After my visit, I took in views of the skyline from the rooftop cafe where I enjoyed a selection of briouates and Moroccan mint tea but there is much more on offer from the menu. Special thanks to Ibtissam who provided a warm welcome at the museum's reception desk. I highly recommend a visit.

This is by far my favourite place I have visited in Marrakech and one of my favourite museums ever. It is very touching to read about all these women and their achievements who have been overlooked and erased, now highlighted by this museum. There is also a fantastic small photography exhibition with stunning and such meaningful photographs by three women. I had a long talk with Siham who did the research on these women and I cannot express enough what a star she is. I hope her name, her story, and the work she doesn’t will never be forgotten, just like thanks to her these other women will not be forgotten. To the women who uplift women.

A small intimate museum in an old riad easily accessible by foot in the medina. Loved the special exhibition this time. A colorful, playful exposé of the diversity of Moroccan women by Hafida Zizi. A perfect exhibition to celebrate the strength and breadth of women in Morocco.

Fascinating museum that gives an interesting insight into the role of women in Moroccan society. It challenges preconceived notions and is packed with art, artefacts and stories to engage the visitor. They have a temporary exhibition which is outstanding, lively and uplifting. The young women that run the museum add to the experience with their humerous and enthusiastic approach to their job. There's also an excellent little rooftop café that has a limited but excellent choice of food at extremely reasonable prices.

Very nice little museum on a side street. The ground floor has displays about notable women in Moroccan history such as the first two women mayors (Essasoura and Marrakesh) in recent times, and also historical times such as the queen who ruled northern Morocco for over thirty years in the 1200s. The next floor has displays of everyday traditional items used by Moroccan women. The top floor had a temporary art exhibit, which was excellent. There is a cafe on the rooftop. Really worth a stop. And, of course, it is run by women.

Date of visit: august 18th and august 21st. Definitely worth the visit. Beautiful small museum with a nice young lady at the entrance who’s very welcoming. She was very helpful, witty and polite. We visited twice. The museum is a wonderful presentation of Moroccan women who have been and are of great importance. I am very pleased to have been indulged with knowledge and art from and for women with great support of likewise supporting men. As to be expected of Marrakech: a beautiful rooftop to sit and relax or sip on a hot Morrocan tea.

Small 3 floor museum. A nice chat with the young receptionist gave some insight in how the museum came to life. Apparently, it was founded by a small group of men. It has showroom space for local and national female artist, as well as traditional jewelry and outfits, plus several tools women use for everyday chores.

I visited with my wife, extremely interesting exhibit gave small biographies and pictures of women throughout the history of Morocco. They also had a level with an artist and her paintings. At the top level you could go get something to eat or coffee or tea and overlook the street. Also, I have to say the young lady at the desk when we came in had a lovely conversation with my wife. She's currently going to school, speaks multiple languages, very impressive.

An unexpected highlight of our visit to Marrakesh. It is nice and small for a casual and quick visit displaying a really interesting perspective of women in Morocco. The receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful giving a really great overview of the museum. Beautiful roof terrace to enjoy a coffee at the end too. Not to miss!

A great little museum with a permanent exhibit of prominent women of Morocco throughout history and artefacts of the daily life of (mostly rural) women. There was also a temporary exhibit of the art of Hafida Zizi, which was excellent. On the rooftop terrace was a fantastic little cafe was a nice view of the neighbourhood. Highly recommend stopping in for 30-60 minutes if you need a break from the busy Souk!

Small but beautiful museum, worthy of footfall. Did you know that it was a woman who founded, sited and named Marrakech? A lovely homage to women in Morocco. Recommend visiting

What a find! A museum dedicated to highlighting pioneers, artists, and the slow move to equity. Encourage all visitors to the city to enter, learn new things, support local artists as well as have a coffee in the rooftop cafe.

Visited this brilliant little museum this week - only 30 dirham (less than £2.50) and worth every penny. In addition to the section on the role of women in Morocco, there was an exhibition of Hafida Zizi’s art - we loved it!

Beautiful spot with many, many descriptive panels. It helps to explain how women live their lives in Morocco, as well as some biographies of women who have made a significant impact. Nearby is a women's artesenal area where you can buy products from women (much more pleasant in many ways). Entrance was 30 DH each.

I received a friendly welcome the moment I stepped in the door. Excellently presented exhibition where we learn about some epic Morrocan women, their lives and influences they have made. Thank you to the museum for giving me a valuable insight into what is mostly invisible to me as a tourist in Morroco. I'm looking forward to the day when a specialised women's museum is no longer necessary because their achievements will no longer be buried and hidden, and all the other museums in the city will represent both men and women.

A tiny but very informative museum with welcoming and friendly staff. Everything I experienced in Morocco was extremely male dominated, so it was great to get some perspective on the role women have played in the country's culture and history. For only 30dh, it is absolutely worth a visit. Be aware that while most signs are in both French and English, a lot of the item captions and the video on weaving are in French only.

The Women’s Museum in Marrakesh was definitely well worth my short time in the city. A wonderfully intriguing experience into the history of Moroccan women and how their lives and works weave the cultural history of its people. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. The museum is the first of its kind and has done a great job to create a cultural experience that is often untold in the art world. I plan to return for the next exhibition.

Full of clichés, meager and flat information on the role of women in Morocco. I expected more.

Capital in the city and in the country! This museum should be visited simply to support the private initiative (it is not an establishment subsidized by the government... surprise surprise!!). It deserves to be more supplied and better maintained but the lack of resources is unfortunately felt. Very interesting all the same and the staff is very pleasant and will answer all your questions.

It's really small, I only spent like 30 minutes in there. I really liked the temporary exhibition though and I think the price is fair in comparison to other touristic experiences in Marrakech. I spent some time on the beautiful terrasse, however no server was to be seen (maybe because the museum was closing soon). There's also a little gift shop

Small, but fascinating museum, full of photos, ancient tools, and pottery, and a current exhibit from a living artist. Set in a beautiful Riyadh with a beautiful upstairs terrace.

Tops: + great initiative, should be inspiring more of the kind + rooftop terrace with good view and affordable tajine (60-120 DH) and spiced maroccan coffe (22 DH) Tips: - Add some of the works the women are remarkable for (paintings, extracts of articles, speeches) - Add English subtitles to the documentary - Add dates and descriptions to contextualize the objects and dresses in the final room - Add headsets to the explanatory video in the temporary exhibitions so that the exhibition is enjoyed in silence - Stained walls - Typos in the descriptions

Small museum but an important one worth visiting. There was a special exhibition when we went there, paying tribute to 3 influential Moroccan women who change the status quo in Education, Art and Music.

A small museum with some interesting artefacts and artwork. It cost 30 dirhams to get in so was cheaper than some alternatives. That said it was no more than a 30 minute visit.

A very small but excellent museum about the history of the Berber women and a celebration of the work of the current women in the region. Super cheap entrance fee of 30Dh so well worth a visit whilst you are in the Médina. The clothing artefacts are especially impressive, the craftsmanship is superb. There are also examples of more recent artwork which are also excellent.
