some receptionist are just rude :) especially SOME people during night shift. I don't wanna be particular cos I don't know names. But the one who checked me in was really nice.

Room was clean and spacious. City view was provide as promised and paid for. TV had some channels unlocked but you would want to get out and about as the location is great too. Near Chinatown and light rail is there connecting to you many many more things. Convenient store is right around the corner as well.

The worst hotel service that I ever seen. Stay away if possible. We booked a Studio room via Agoda but when we arrive after 10-hour flight, the receptionist rejected us & kicked us out. They said that because we bring in a 5 year-old kid so we have to book a bigger room & they are not willing to make any exception even the room is 33- sq meter and more than enough to accommodate us. My family had to take all the luggage and carry in Sydney winter to find a new hotel. Terrible hotel service with cold blood receptionist.

I was absolutely delighted with my stay at Oaks Hotel. I was so happy that the staff managed to place me in an upper-floor room, as per my request -- the city views were nothing less than spectacular. I felt like a rich business traveller, even though the price of the room was very affordable. Staff are super friendly and professional, the room was extremely comfortable with a sumptuous and relaxing bed, huge TV, and neat kitchenette. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely horrible. This is the worst 4-star hotel I ever experienced. This should be classified as 1-star or 2-star. List of endless problems: 1. MY key can't open the front door of this 1-star hotel! Can you believe that? If you get a 'No Swipe' card as shown in my photos, you will be literally locked out of the hotel!!! 2. The air-conditioner doesn't work properly. It's extremely noisy and not really cooling the room very much. Good luck when you came back from a hot day and found yourself trapped in a hotter room!!! 3. This hotel doesn't have good ventilation. The air inside the hotel building smells stale, humid and hot. Probably quite unhealthy. 4. This hotel is overpriced for its subpar quality. 5. The staff is not helpful and just says generic lines like 'the management decided that and I don't know why' when you have a problem. And I can't even find this almighty and mysterious 'management' to complain!

Clean, large apartment style room, huge bed, fresh linen. Well appointed kitchen with full size fridge and dishwasher. The only issue is that parking is extremely tight undet the building. The hotel itself is easy to find and is in a great location, eady walk to the light rail on George street, easy walk to chinatown and markets as well. Staff were helpful.

waited 30 minutes to check in with only one staff member at desk.. she was lovely but why only have one team member on a busy Saturday in the heart of Sydney? When I arrived to my room is was completely different to what I ordered looked like a neglected old hotel room.. no balcony everything closed in.. scary. I was already running late due to having to wait so long to check in.. went back to front desk and told them this is not what I ordered and they told me they ‘ upgraded’ me without even asking me.. If that was an upgrade then I’ll be dammed too see what I ordered to begin with.. waisted an hour and a half of my time just to book with another hotel way nicer for a cheaper price… while I was waiting to check in and get a refund there was multiple people complaining about car park and their room.. do not recommend at all. Props to the lady working who kept professional and calm under stress she was the only positive thing that hotel obtained. Disgusting

Or arrival for a 4 night stay met with signage posted 'upgrades to Hotel'. Stepping out of the lift the carpets were ripped up. Using a key to open room door it was loose fitting which didn't feel secure. General cleanliness was very poor. Thick layer of dust on hindges of all doors & cupboards. Bathroom ceiling I could reach up and touch which made the space feel cramped and small. Overall felt uncomfortable! To top it off the indoor heated pool and spa along with the outdoor BBQ area was out of order & not for use. I was Extremely disappointed and frustrated. Spoke to receptionist who offered a refund we took it and checked out. Do not recommend this stay. Well over priced! NO Quality at all.

First time here and we will return. Fabulous location with terrific restaurants (Pellegrino 2000) & cocktail bar (SoulTrap) around the corner. Enjoyed the view. Loved the regular servicing of the apartment. The pool was excellent. The staff were courteous, professional and available. Great value.... Can't go wrong ☺️

The studio room we stayed in was good and the hotel is in a prime location - just minutes walk from central station and the light / rail tram line. I would like to note however many public areas of the hotel need better cleaning and maintenance. The ceiling of the pool area area for example has a huge peeling paint issue and there were many cracked tiles on pillars and general walkways. The gym also felt quite stuffy and we were disappointed there were no sets of hand weights, just big gym machines.

Is pretty good if you want to stay in Sydney central. Nice view in the night. Parking is $45. There's another place across the road to park for $15 and drive out before 6am. One can actually cook your own meal as there's provision for mini kitchen.

Location is great. Had a comfy stay. Special thank to the front office lady named Bibina (not sure if I got her name right) who made our check-in experience so easy!

We booked a King Single and had called 2 days prior to organise a rollaway bed, a male reception staff had confirmed it was all good to go via phone. However after we drove 4 hours, reception told us the room is not suitable for a rollaway bed and the staff on the phone was on training - great. We then had to cancel the booking and find another hotel which is extremely annoying and difficult, the price are also very high at that point. Staff was not proactive to provide positive solution, it was to advise upgrade our room or cancel, absolutely no initiative to take any responsibility for your own mistake!

If you want an accurate description of what it’s like to stay here, read all the other 1, 2 and 3 star reviews. I thought it was people just overreacting but pretty much everything in these reviews rung true. There is no way on earth that this is a 4 star hotel. The building was old, dirty and smelly. Only one of the two key cards worked in the lift and extra key cards could not be provided. The reception staff were unhelpful and disengaged. I did use the gym, pool or spa. The state of cleanliness of the rest of the hotel left me little faith that these facilities had been hygienically maintained. The establishment overall delivered the bare minimum service I would expect from an inner city budget hotel, far below its price point. Very poor value for money. I will not being staying here again.

I’d give this a 0 if I could. A very badly falling apart aging hotel that really should be shut-down until extensive renovations are done. It’s clear the owners or management have no intention of doing this - given the vast amount of bad reviews. 4 star hotel!? Google definitely has some verification issues here. AVOID at all costs. Photos attached of aging lobby, broken light by the elevator.

Reception staff have continuously been a disappointment. No empathy, no accountability. Absolutely disgusting customer service. The lifts are a disgrace, you will be waiting 10-20 minutes for lifts as although being equipped with three lifts, only one pretty much works. I highly do not recommend.

Reception, facilities and rooms are very rundown. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Didn’t use the aircon as the vent was very dusty. Unable to open window (no balcony) and there was a slight smell. Beds were comfortable. We were on the 13th floor and there was minimal noise from the train line. Location is 5 minute walk to central station. Okay if staying for 1-2 nights. Relatively cheaper than other hotels in the area, but still expensive for the quality of the stay.

Woeful Experience. Avoid this place. Booked an apartment for 2x nights. Arrived to find it filthy, air con did not work and made it extremely stuffy and hot. Train line opposite out room and seemed very loud, found out the next morning that the window was broken and large gaps allowed all the street noise into the room. Bad smells throughout. Elevators need maintenance. I would recommend you read the 1,2 &3 Star reviews for this place as it closely resembles our experience. The positive I can draw from this was that when confronted with these issues the morning after the staff refunded the further nights accommodation without question, almost like it was common practice.

Rooms are clean and well equipped, but a bit old and outdated. The staff were really helpful and sweet. The hotel is near a lot of food places including chinatown and you can find lots of thai food downstairs as well. It’s only 7min away from the train station that is connected to the airport too.

Convenient location, staff were polite, rooms standard. Only one of three lifts working was quite frustrating, and unable to use alternative via fire stairs. No sound insulation makes rooms noisy - both from adjacent guests and external noise eg trains. Curtains also do not cover entire width of windows so significant light still comes in at night. Overall disappointing.

Arrived to check in and no was at Reception/check in desk in site, (8 other guests waiting to be checked in) multiple guests were waiting for for over 40 minutes with no one at reception, we were trying to call head office, different locations, fakebook & messenger and the location directly nothing, staff member finally decided to show up (40 minutes is unacceptable). the only good experience at this hotel was the location and how close it was to everything in the city. otherwise avoid it at all costs.

The Oaks on Castlereagh is another hotel I have stayed at several times over a five year period, simply just for a staycation. I live 30 minutes away from the City so it's nice to get away and not pay too much for a huge one bedroom apartment with beautiful city views. The apartments are always clean, comfy beds and most of all, very lovely staff. It's also a stone's throw away from many shopping centres and various other attractions, and sites to see right at your doorstep. Highly recommended Oaks on Castlereagh for all reasons.

Service is okay but not top notch. Some staff is not as friendly as others. Facilities are good with swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym on site. Good views of the city from our room on level 9. The only thing is the lift. Sometimes the buttons wouldn’t work and we need to wait for a while for it to come to our level.

Clean and tidy with good space. The space is a little tired but still well maintained. A slight funky smell near the entrance of your room. The actual room smells fine.

Good location in the vibrant China Town. Loads of good food and shopping close by. We stayed Oaks Castlereagh Suite. The room is Quite large and comfortable. BUT the room and furniture were quite out dated. And the general facilities were quite run down and worn out. There was a nasty smell of garbage in the level 15 lift lobby probably escaping from the bin chute area. The pool is large and clean, but the pool room is nothing fancy and needs a facelift. The paint is bubbling off the ceiling. And the floor is very dirty. The Gym is one good feature. The equipment is decent and well catered for cardio or strength training.

It was in the middle of summer in Dec. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment for two nights and the air conditioner (AC) was NOT working for both days & nights. We complained to the reception desk when we first checked into the apartment and were told that there was no one available to fix the AC. We were given a couple of fans to use. We couldn't open the windows because it was super noisy outside, with noises from the traffic, drunken persons yelling and restaurants. There were cockroaches on the balcony so we couldn't open the sliding door to get some fresh air. It was unbearably hot and stuffy inside the apartment. The lighting was also insufficient inside the apartment. No one gave as any update on the AC repair on the next day. When we asked the reception desk, we were told that they were still working on it. We suffered on the 2nd night with no AC again. I paid almost $400 per night for the stay, I expect to have a working AC, proper lighting and clean rooms. I also paid $45 per night for the car park, the parking space was very small and very hard to access. During check-out, I complained to the girl at the reception desk again about the lack of AC and ask if they are going to provide any compensation or do anything about it. All she did was record my phone number on a sticky note and said that someone will give me a call. I didn't hear from them again! Terrible experience and will not stay there again next time we are in Sydney.

This place is set right in the city center hence convenient in case if you need easy access to any place around the harbor or CBD. Good eateries around the area which open early and close late. Car park entrance can be tricky to locate and being a busy street if you miss it, maneuvering back there is tedious and time consuming. Reception staff was helpful, though room service could be better.

Fantastic location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although we don't think the a bedroom apartment we had is upto 4star rating, it was a solid 3 and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable

Centrally located. Right across the road train station. Alot of resturants, close to China town, capitol theatre and darling harbour. Staff friendly and accommodating. Does need renovations on pool and spa area. Rooms modern and comfortable. Beds so delightful and comfortable.

I booked a 1bedroom apartment for 2 nights. I booked this specifically as I require a balcony. On the morning of the booking I received a call advising the room was undergoing maintenance and was not available. I was checking in on a Sunday. They would have known about this the prior Friday. Why call me on the same day! The studio they gave me was horrible. It was very outdated.

The main thing I took away from our one night stay was that it was a really nice mattress. Service was friendly but we were very undemanding. Location was ideal for what we were doing. Room was clean, had everything we needed. Pleasant stay.

Awesome location.Easy walk to The city Central Darling harbour and China town. Lots of cafes and restaurants. Rooms are clean and spacious But tired looking. Parking a bit pricey ($45 pernight) but paying really for security and convenience. A little bit hard to navigate initially. Check in was fine. Friendly enough but again not really enthusiastic. Would I stay here again? Yes for the location.

Nice view from 17th floor. Really nice and spacious room with a comfortable mattress. Full kitchen but not everything you need to cook, unfortunately, dishwasher was not working. Medium size bathroom with bathtub and shower, unfortunately, no hot water (warm/cold). Friendly service. SPA is always enjoyable. Ideal location for my needed. After all, pleasant stay.

Very comfortable and affordable prices well located in Haymarket, walking distance to major attractions.

  • 5/5 Lady M L. 3 years ago on Google
My one bedroom is very clean and LARGE, feels like an apartment, with private hallway inside my room, lots of wardrobe spaces, bed is clean, comfortable, kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal, washing machine is very clean.. my view is of the train, but don’t worry you won’t hear the trains, when you close your door from the veranda. I would recommend 100%. The front staff was very kind and friendly, location is walking distance from the central train station. 5 minutes.

Nice apartment for overnight or couple of days stay. Right up the road from the Capitol Theatre. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. Downside dishwasher didn't work, there wasn't any housekeeping (not sure if they were on a schedule or routine), heated pool wasn't heated but still nice for a swim

Great location and the apartment stylerooms are HUGE! I had Ample space and large kitchen (which in this trip I didn't need). Large comfortable king size bed with range of different feel pillows.
