It's one of the oldest entrances in town. There are 4: porta Garibaldi, porta Mazara, porta Nuova and porticella. Two of them can still be visited: porta Nuova and porta Garibaldi. Next to porta Garibaldi is located the old fish market that is open during the morning. At night it's converted into a place with bars and pubs, mostly visited by young people. On the the other side, you'll find one of the typical Sicilian churches. Recommended!!

Porta Garibaldi is in the view to the seaside a plain port you look through from the other side it shows the richness from the old period where Marsala is famous off - Wine seems to be the most important business at Marsala from my first glance but I am sure there is more hidden if you look closer - that ancient history you might find everywhere in Marsala speaks by itself - and this represent for me the Porta Garabaldi - a great entrance to a city with a great historical background.

Main entry point to city of Marsala. Pedestrian only area, it's a short walk past the Porta to the main square.

Magnificent. Stay till the sunset and after dark. The atmosphere is different when they lit the lights in this historical neighborhood. Take your time to walk around the monuments and feel the history.
