It was 100% worth it. We took a day trip from Georgia and we absolutely enjoyed it. Our tour guide Rita was awesome. With her jokes and knowledge the tour felt like we were walking through an interactive story. The end was absolutely stunning. I would recommend you go in the slow season you you can enjoy the beauty without haste. We were a group of 8 and that was a great size. If you haven’t gone definitely check it out

Great experience. Our tour guide gave us lots of experience and was well informed. Alex, "root beer", really helped bring the whole experience together. Super easy to navigate to, the signs show you exactly where you need to go. My wife and I chose to call ahead but talking to other people who came same time as us, it isn't always required to make a reservation. As the website says the hills can be steep so I wouldn't recommend wheelchairs but is super kid friendly. The lighting isn't as bright as the photos make it seem to be but it is still excellently well lit and my wife and I had no issues seeing where we were going. It is a guided only experience so make sure you plan around guide times.

That was is incredible experience. It was so large and beautiful. Our tour guide Brody was great! He offered a lot of great information and kept the tour fun. I would definitely recommend this as a trip if your close by or a vacation stop like we did. Even found out they do wedding ceremonies here! I loved that the bathrooms were very clean as well as picnic areas.

What better way to spend a hot summer day then to go to Cathedral Caverns where are the cave is 60° year-round. We had a great time on the tour of the cave and soul, lots of stalagmite and stalactite formations. Great photo opportunities at every turn! I would suggest bringing a light jacket if you’re cold natured. Our guide was friendly and full of funny cave jokes! 😂 the history of the cave was interesting as well. This is certainly a place that you need to take the family at least once. It was definitely worth the trip. We had planned on hiking on some of the mini trails that are in the state park but it we got rained out. The gift shop was very nice and the restrooms very clean. Hope you enjoy our pictures.!

This place is quite amazing. The cave system was well explained by the Guide, Barry. I was completely impressed by the tour and so many different things to see. It was well lit up and was easy to walk. The route is paved like a sidewalk with special surfaces to keep it slip free. It surprised me completely, because, really, I didn't want to go. My sister talked me into it, because she wanted to see it. Use the hand rails if you need to, I used them a lot because I was looking around in wonder and awe. It's a very interesting place if you like outdoor hiking and the wonders of the earth.

Absolutely Incredible. Found this place on our way between Huntsville and Chattanooga and so glad we saw the sign and decided to give it a look. Now that I've seen this place, I would have happily driven an hour or more out of my way to visit. Its just insanely massive and amazing. The photos just don't do it justice, you have got to see it! Our guide (Stephanie) was just brilliant, so full of fun and information. She clearly loves her job and this place. Cathedral Cavern is an absolute must visit if you are anywhere within 2 hours!

If you are planning on visiting, I HIGHLY recommend making your reservations (purchasing your ticket(s)) ahead of time. They sell out quickly! The cave can only be explored with the tour. It is beautiful! SO stunning, we loved it! Have your camera ready. We wore layers and got pretty warm, as there were steep inclines and declines. Make sure to wear shoes with a good grip, as it's also pretty wet in some spots. Also a good idea to use the washroom prior to your tour. The grounds are beautiful, enjoy!

Really awesome cavern to visit. Our tour guide Karen was great and knew everything about the cave and it's history. Easily accessible, easy to walk through. Takes a little more than an hour to tour. Great place to bring kids. I suggest wearing good shoes and long pants because it is a bit chilly in this cave.

We took a 3 day weekend trip to Huntsville to see as much as we could. We visited serval top spots, but this was definitely our favorite part of the trip! It was way more than we imagined. The park is beautiful and they take such great care of the facilities and cave. You go about 1/4 mile into this cave and the pathway and lighting is SUPERB! And Rita, our tour guide what phenomenal! Make this trip!!!

We visited in April of 2023 and just last night were still talking of how amazing this place was. I believe one of my favorites that we've visited. Truly amazing and beautiful. So worth it although it was affordable. I definitely recommend making the trip. Wasn't far from Lake Guntersville State Park. Glorious experience inside the cave!

I would highly recommend this cave to all. I am a caver; so I don't normally go on commercial cave tours. I got the opportunity to see Cathedral Caverns and it was fabulous! I was with several other cavers and we all were very much impressed with the cave. Big rooms with gorgeous formations! The tour guide (sorry I didn't catch his name) was funny and knowledgeable. He had a tough crowd of cavers and cave researchers. 😉

Cathedral Caverns is well worth the visit. We visited the park on a Thursday morning. It was relatively quiet with very few crowds. Apparently, Memorial Day weekend was pretty busy, so you may want to check their Facebook page before going. The ticket price includes a walking tour of the Caverns that lasts approximately 90 minutes Round trip. The Caverns were beautiful, interesting, and much larger than expected. The environment is quite cool, even for a summer day, so a light jacket may be needed if 60 is uncomfortable for you. The trail in and out is relatively easy to trek, and there are handrails to help out. Overall, two thumbs up for the nature lover.

I honestly think this was one of the most awesome caverns I been in since Carlsbad caverns. The path you walk in and out of is all lighted smoothed easy to walk concrete path. You have to have a tour guide but it's 1.5 mile round trip of awesomeness you won't be disappointed for the $20 entry fee it's well worth it. You can film and take flash photography until the tour guided takes you to the end, were they shut off the lights for 2-3 minutes while she sets up for a laser display. Folks go here if your the adventures type you will love it

A fun, simple outing with my kids. Nice cool off from the intense AL heat! 4&under being free was a nice financial break! Minimal fussing about the 1.5 mile round trip walk and lots of cool stuff for them to see and learn. It's a short 30 minute drive if you're local to Huntsville! We were able to walk up and get tour tickets thankfully! We just packed jackets (it can get down to 58 in there), snacks and water--perfect to keep us happy and warm. Kids 5+ tickets are only $9, but adult tickets are $20, so know that ahead of time. We had fun with some friends as a non-screen way to close out summer!

The gem mining/picnic area, and patio is nice. Restrooms are very clean. Gift shop had cute items, and all of the workers were very helpful. This is the biggest cVe I've ever been in. There is a very nice large paved walkway the entire time. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and funny. If someone in your group can't walk steep hills, I wouldn't recommend the tour bc there are several steep hills within the cave. Overall, great experience!

This was my third trip to this state park and this was during the 4th of July holiday so they were really busy. They doubled the number of their tours and even though it was crowded, they did a good job spreading out the groups. The staff selling the tickets were very knowledgeable about the park. When we were done with the cave tour, we wanted to go on a hike and they provided us a map and shared about their locations and length. I love this location and look forward to coming back again in the future!

This place was phenomenal! It’s non slip the whole 1 mile walk into the cavern and then 1 mile back out! Their are a lot of inclines and declines, but the views are spectacular. Their are railings the whole way to hold on to. The tour is paced just right, gift shop has the most reasonable prices for souvenirs I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend!

Cathedral Caverns is routinely ranked the #1 cave tour in Alabama for a good reason -- stunning beauty. We have taken the tour three times with out of town guests and made lasting memories with each trek. The walk is easy - wide and paved with gentle slopes. Wear hiking shoes due to occasional slippery spots. The cave is massive and there are no claustrophobic moments. The tour guides are witty, friendly, and professional and welcome questions. Recommend booking tickets online. We have toured multiple caverns in the U.S., including Mammoth Cave, but nothing comes close to Cathedral Caverns.

What a incredible experience this was! We've been in caves before but this place is truly enormous. It's hard to describe and photos don't do it justice. Just go you won't regret it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and full of corny cave jokes. It's cool inside but a decent sweatshirt or light jacket should be more than enough. The walk is slow paced with only a few slightly steep inclines. Several elderly people on our tour had no issues.

The staff is super friendly and kind. I went a little late but they let me in which I really appreciated. The caverns are beautiful and the guide is excellent. Worth every penny. loved the experience. Be prepared to walk a lot and have water with you. Lots of humidity once inside. It has ramps.

This place was amazing...I'm claustrophobic and this place was just fine....large pathways and high ceiling so you won't have issues if you don't like closed spaces...it is a very long tour so if you have issues walking think about it twice or you can always ask for a ride on the tours golf cart....we did the mining minerals large bucket while we waited for our tour.... and it was fun!! You will love this!!

The Cathedral Caverns was a beautiful cave. It was easy to walk. The tour was about 1.5 hours and 1.5 miles. The cave is chilly so bring a jacket or wrap. Our tour guide Phoenix was funny and knowledgeable. Make sure you wear athletic shoes.

We really enjoyed coming here. They cavern is a smooth path HOWEVER steep in some places and 3/4 of a mile walk in and walk out. So wear comfortable shoes. Bring strollers because you can. ALSO CALL AHEAD TO RESERVE A TIME. They book up fast so make sure to call in advance.

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful cavern! The cavern is enormous inside. I've been to many caves, this was by far the most spacious. Our guide Anna was great, very knowledgeable and engaging. The cave is an Alabama State Park, the grounds are beautifully kept. Definitely recommend a visit!

We had an incredible experience on 09/30/2023. One of the most spectacular places I have ever been. I highly recommend coming here. The tour guide was incredible, the walkways were very convenient, temperature was very cool, I recommend a light jacket. I’m not sure why this place is not highly advertised, we just stumbled on this place. Blessings, Ryan M. from Wadley, AL

The caverns are spectacular! Tours are scheduled. There is one path in and one out; with the acoustics … it makes sense. Just amazing. If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth the drive.

"This curiosity turned into the best experience of our trip!" Massive, awesome, and very entertaining! It is over a mile into the mountain with steep inclines and descents, but not one of the 50ish ppl in their 60's had an issue with it. Randall and Heather are the best tour guides with Dad jokes for miles! They also have a wealth of information about the cavern, it's history and the area. Highly recommended!!

These pictures do not do this place justice. We had a wonderful experience here! Our guide was fun and knowledgeable. Not only is this area gorgeous in Fall with all of the leaves changing, but Cathedral Caverns is beautiful and you will be in awe! We walked on lit pathways 3/4 mile in stopping along the way for information from the tour guide and then back 3/4 mile out. It is worth the trip out there if you get a chance to visit. You will not be disappointed!

Cathedral Caverns is a MUST SEE place!!! It is absolutely stunning and so much fun. I caught myself just staring in awe multiple times at how amazing the formations around me were. Our tour guide, Heather, was fabulous! Our group was her first tour group and she did an outstanding job, even tossing in some humor here and there mixed in with her knowledge of the cave’s history. I recommend a trip here, you certainly won’t regret it! :-)

Wonderful experience. We only had time to go into the cavern, but it alone was worth the drive. It was nice and cool during the hot summer. Mostly paved path throughout. A few areas are iffy &/or slippery but overall it was an easy walk. Many kids of all ages were there and seemed to do ok with it. The magnitude is unreal. Especially once you get towards the end. Heads up, there is a moment of total darkness but it’s controlled and temporary. My nostalgia was peaking from the Tom & Huck scene filmed here.

  • 5/5 Kimberly M. 8 months ago on Google
This was a wonderful experience! This natural formation is awe-inspiring, boasting the largest known cave opening in the world. There were beautiful formations all over the cave and it was fun to see the history of the cave unfold as you got deeper inside. The walk in and out took about an hour and a half, but seemed to fly by. Our tour guide, Phoenix, was very knowledgeable about the cavern's history and was beneficial in making the experience such a memorable one. The souvenir shop had quite a selection of mementos and the bathrooms were very clean. There were also trails to hike, picnic pavilions for those that bring food, and there was a set up for gem mining, but it was not operational while we were there. There was also an RV park at the entrance to the park, so we will bring our camper next time and make a weekend of it. I would wear a long sleeve shirt or bring a light jacket with you; it gets chilly down there 😊

  • 5/5 Scott T. 8 months ago on Google
Wow! What a hidden gem! We were coming home and just happened to see a sign for this and drove to it. Fortunately we got there and were able to make the first tour of the day. The tours are every hour. The caverns are incredible and much more. Worth your money than Ruby falls in Chattanooga. The walk is about 90 minutes total and the cavern is much more spectacular than anything you'll see up in Tennessee. Our guide was also really funny and did a wonderful job.

Stunning and beautiful. We enjoyed a tour with a family that had mobility issues, and were thrilled to learn that it is ADA friendly/accessible (I do believe you must call ahead for these accommodations first, please)!! Highly recommend coming here, it was a great experience.

  • 5/5 Kell B. 1 year ago on Google
First time at Cathedral Caverns, and it DID NOT disappoint!!! Such a gorgeous cave system without any unnecessary bells & whistles. Just enough light to see the natural beauty safely. This tour ended up being over 90 minutes as we took lots of pics on the way back. We have been to Mammouth Caves several times on many different tours, and I can honestly say this one packs more punch in a shorter system! Seems like it's easy enough for younger kids and older folks, alike. Just wish we had better weather to hike on the outside, as well.

  • 5/5 Nicole W. 10 months ago on Google
A must see! Kid friendly tour of 90 minutes, guided, no steps, all paved path with some steep grades, but rails along most. Fabulous formations in the cave. Call 2 days ahead for reservations (no online), $20/per.

  • 5/5 Josh S. 10 months ago on Google
Quite the amazing and enthralling experience! I've done cave tours before, but never with small children. This was easy and comfortable (quite cool compared to the outside summer temperature). A must see for families in the Huntsville area!

  • 5/5 Bob J. 10 months ago on Google
Very cool cavern. The tour is $20 for adults, and lasts almost an hour. The path is cement, but there are some pretty good hills to climb in the cavern. If you have mobility issues call ahead, and they will have someone take you in a golf cart.

Milton gave us an awesome tour with great history behind the Cavern! The Cavern was about a 1/2 mile in and there was plenty to see! There weren’t a lot of people in our tour which made it even more enjoyable. It’s easy to get to and the whole staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We had a fantastic time!

  • 5/5 G. H. M. 1 year ago on Google
Brody was an awesome tour guide today, and both people who helped us in the gift shop were super nice. The entire tour can be done on an electric cart driven by the tour guide, if you have anyone in your party who isn't up for the 1+ mile round-trip walk. They've done a wonderful job with making the cavern as accessible as possible. If you get there early, there are rocking chairs on the back porch in the shade for you to enjoy and there's a sluice where kids of all ages can pan for treasure (after purchasing buckets in the gift shop). If you're in to camping, there's a nice tent camping area and a separate RV camping area.

  • 5/5 Liza B. 2 years ago on Google
Tickets were $20 and well worth the cost for the tour. There are also several hiking trails to enjoy. Can easily make a day of nature adventures.

  • 5/5 Aubrey N. 2 years ago on Google
Worth a trip! I stopped here on my way through Alabama and so glad I did. The cave tour is fantastic (discount if you're also camping there!) and I promise you'll get some great pictures. The campground is well maintained, has Wi-Fi (and it's fast!), and very nice/clean bathrooms and showers. The trails are pretty limited but the cave and campgrounds are the star of the show.

  • 5/5 Caity K. 2 years ago on Google
The state park was great. Super clean and friendly staff. The kids could roam. Bathrooms and bathhouse were very well kept. Definitely take a tour of the cave while you are there and let them know you are staying on site. Bring a jacket in the cave as well. Great trip and would visit again!

  • 5/5 Veronica P. 2 years ago on Google
Stephanie was amazing and made our tour experience very fun and informative! Her jokes rock. 🤣 I would definitely come back with my family just for another tour with her. Bonus points for her being so considerate as to duck out the way so I could take a photo. The caves were amazingly breathtaking and a sight to behold. I highly recommend anyone in the area to take a few hours out of your day and visit the caverns.
