Loved the location, beautiful beach to swim in outside the room. Gail the host is lovely and very accommodating. Opportunity to meet other guests via the communal kitchen. Breakfast very basic, very important to bring your own food and drinks as supermarket is 25 min away in town. Local restaurants very nice. Highly recommended!

Matevulu Lodge was the highlight of Santo. We stayed in the beautifully contructed family bungallow. For us, the views and the privacy, the lovely staff, excellent shared kitchen, beautiful breakfast spread, and the accessibility to the kayaks and the nearby blue holes made this a really calm and magical escape.

Run by an enthusiastic French woman who has given this resort a quiet flare, we really appreciated the attention to detail. This is by no means a luxury stop, but one that has everything you need for a laid back time on Santo. We aprticularky enjoyed the interaction with other travellers in the communal kitchen. It is walking distance to two blue holes, RiRI and Matevulu and a day outing to Jackie's Blue Hole, Port Orly and Champagne beach are easily arranged and well worth the trip. Next door is Turtle Cove Resort with a restaurant and dive shop. The diving was great as was the food.

Stunning slice of paradise with chill vibes. The bungalows are cozy and well appointed with beautiful views. But it’s so much more than a nice room. The location is perfect for exploring. The complimentary use of kayaks can get you to private islands and 2 of the incredible blue holes. The well appointed communal kitchen and proximity to a local Sunday fruit market had us eating well! Gaelle is helpful and made arranging activities easy!

We absolutely loved this place! Stunning waterfront location in clean, comfortable bungalows. The host, Gaelle, was really lovely and made sure we were looked after. She even leant us some of her own clothes and kindly collected our bags on her way back from town for us after Air Vanuatu decided not to send our luggage!! - All the info and the FAQs on the website is correct and comprehensive - check this out of you are considering. - It is 20-25min drive from town so make sure you get supplies from the supermarket (LCM) in town before heading out. - Highly recommend kayaking to the 2 nearby blue holes - they are amazing! - The shared kitchen has everything you need for cooking, but you will need your own margarine / butter and coffee / tea (plungers available) for during the day (provided for breakfast only). - Highly recommend the takeaway place that delivers here - the meals feed three adults and were so yummy! Gaelle can email you their menu and details. - Make sure to bring your own shampoo / soap etc. Cannot fault this place!!

A perfect spot for your time out. We hired a vehicle and did our own tours and came back at our own time to enjoy a meal. It is perfectly located close to the blue hole, turtle bay and Black pearl resort. The Manager Gaelle is very helpful and so was Chatouille (cat)who provides security at night.

Absolutely loved our stay at Matevulu Lodge. The property is so private that it feels like a retreat. With just 4 bungalows, it never feels like there are many people around and we felt like we had loads of privacy in our beautiful premium bungalow. The room was super clean and everything we needed. The photos are exactly what it looks like; the water is right at your doorstep! Gaëlle and her staff are so friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were lovely. Gaëlle was super helpful with tips and so lovely to chat to. The location is 20-25 minutes out of Luganville, but so much closer to all the beautiful blue holes. In fact, you can kayak to two of them right off the beach at Matevulu Lodge. We kayaked to Riri Blue hope which was a beautiful river paddle. We had a hire car so we drove to Matevulu blue hole (30 minute walk), we also drove to Nanda blue hole just 10 minutes away. Each of the blue holes is special in its own way. We also drove up to Port Olry (45 minutes) and had lunch and swam at the beautiful beach. You don’t need a hire car, but you will need to organise taxis in advance if you want to go out for dinner, or to Port Olry. We will definitely return to this paradise!

Best accommodation during the trip. The interiors and decorations of the rooms are tasteful, and the living experience is warm and free like home. You can kayak to the Blue Hole and snorkel to the coral reef anytime as you like, without making schedules and wasting time& money to drive there. and the scenery on the way is also amazing! It is just like home, there is no need to go to the reception desk asking the staff to borrow equipment, and you won't always be asked about your experience by enthusiastic waiters. It's an introvert's paradise. The staff was absolutely reliable! I found that I had left a bag in the lodge 40 minutes before boarding the plane, and the airport was nearly 30 minutes' drive away from the lodge. I almost gave up, but they contacted the driver in time to deliver the bag to the airport.(Thank you Luy)I'm really touched and appreciate it. BTW, there are many lovely hermit crabs🐚 on the beach, and the lodge's cat is the cutest 😍

We strongly recommend staying here as your base for a visit to the east coast of Santo while you’re in Vanuatu. Great beachfront lodging where the waves in the lagoon out front will lull you to sleep each night and where the sun will greet you each morning. Want to cook? Kitchen has the gear and the space. Don’t want to cook? The proprietor Gaëlle can direct you to a service that’ll deliver food to your allocated fridge. Eat out? She can point you to the options that suit your taste. Blue holes? She can give you views on the three, and help you choose how and when to see them. Champagne beach? port-olry? Hidden spots? Same thing. Rides, airport pickup…? You guessed it. Grateful we had our toes in your sand for a little while and hope to see you again soon! 😎
