This
is
a
big
and
one
of
the
oldest
(if
not
the
oldest)
park
right
in
the
heart
of
the
city.
Also
known
as
Dampier
park
after
the
name
of
the
locality
it
is
adjacent
to
-
Dampier
Nagar
which
was
named
after
British
Collector
of
that
time.
The
park
is
also
adjacent
to
the
museum
which
has
a
very
good
collection
of
red
sandstone
Buddha
statues
of
Mathura
school
of
art,
coins,
pottery
and
other
artifacts
historical
significance.
Although
its
adjacent
to
Dampier
Nagar
but
in
my
opinion
its
"the
favorite
place"
of
all
Mathurites
for
morning
walks
and
jogging
since
time
immemorial
as
people
from
all
corners
of
the
city
come
here
for
morning
walk,
jogging,
Yoga
etc.
As
kids
we
used
to
play
cricket,
badminton,
volley
ball
and
other
sports
here
in
addition
to
jogging
/
walking
every
day.
Can
see
the
same
continuing
today
too
with
the
exception
of
cricket
as
some
modification
have
been
done
to
the
park
which
haven't
left
space
for
cricket
now.
Visited
the
park
after
about
more
than
20
years
and
was
happy
to
see
that
the
upkeep
and
maintenance
is
good.
Jogging/walking
track
is
paved
now.
Could
notice
that
couple
of
old
trees
were
missing
but
it
still
has
a
lot
of
greenery
and
a
lot
of
big
trees.
Most
recent
addition
to
the
park
are
the
monkeys
which
seem
to
ubiquitous
in
the
city
now.
Although
they
did
seem
to
be
harmless
and
minding
their
own
business
but
monkeys
being
monkeys
are
unpredictable
and
they
do
sometimes
attack
people.So
if
you
want
to
come
here
for
a
walk,
jog,
yoga
or
just
to
sit
and
enjoy
greenery
and
fresh
air,
its
advisable
to
carry
a
stick
to
keep
monkeys
at
bay.
Visiting
hours:
I
think
it
opens
around
6:30
AM.
Not
sure
about
closing
time.
Earlier
it
was
open
24/7
as
there
was
no
functional
gate
and
a
proper
boundary
as
such.
But
now
there
is
is
gate
in
fact
3
gates
now
and
a
proper
boundary
wall.
So
i
guess
there
is
a
closing
time
too.
Still,
advisable
to
visit
only
during
daylight.
Overall
a
nice,
big,
green
and
lovely
park
in
the
heart
of
the
city.
