The beauty of the Kund during daylight and im the evening with glittering colorful lights with background music is indescribable. The Kund is a heritage and is protected. It is situated behind the Krishna Janam Bhoomi Mandir in Mathura and is surrounded by Market and colonies and temples. Parking is not an issue and there is a pa8d parking at Ram Mandir near Potra Kund. It is said and believed that Lord Krishna Balaram clothes used to be cleansed here hence this is highly holy and auspicious. A must to visit and see in Mathura.

Mathura has got popular tourist sites such as Dwarikadheesh temple, Krishnajanmabhoomi, Radha Kund, Potara kund and many more destinations to visit. Among all these beauties Potara kund is one of the popular tourist destination as it has got immense mythological significance. It is said that Mata Devaki used to wash the garments of Lord Krishna in this kund. Devotees wishes to take a dip in this holy water of the kund. The kund is built in red sandstone. The holy water pond has got deep steps descend deep to the pond. The holy pond situated adjacent to the Krishna janmabhoomi. Devotees throng during janmashtami festival. A fair or Mela is arranged during Janmashtami eve. During the fair there will be a beautiful Light and sound show which is mesmerizing during the eve, whole Mathura will be lit up with beautiful lights and lamps. There is a very huge boat for the float festival for the deity and his consorts is been situated in the pond. This holy tank is the largest kunds of whole Mathura city.

It was really beautiful and spectacular. The architecture is truly mind-blowing. People say that this 'kund' became more attractive and beautiful at night because of all the lights and fountains in it. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to see this myself. Hopefully I can see it in the near future.

It is a Historical pond which reflects the history of Mathura. It's situated besides the Krishna Janmbhoomi temple. Currently the fountain is not working here and the way to go in is also closed. But this looks beautiful. You can find many food outlets nearby to eat and munch your craving.

Potra Kund, a large stepwell in Mathura, holds a special place in the hearts of Lord Krishna’s followers. According to popular belief, Mata Devaki and Vasudeva would wash their children's clothes in this stepwell. In fact, the word 'potra' means clothes. It was originally known as Pavitra Kund, and was believed to purify the soul. The stepwell is adjacent to Krishna Janmabhoomi and is connected by underground pipelines to River Yamuna, flowing 3 km away. It was one part of the prison where Devaki and Vasudeva were imprisoned, and where Lord Krishna was born. Given its association with the lord, devotees flock to Potra Kund with a belief that it would cleanse their spirit and wash off their sin. They come here looking for a fresh start, which is why it is particularly crowded during festivals and other special occasions.

Potara Kund is a lake located near Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura, according to legend it is the same place where Goddess and Vasudev washed the clothes of Lord Shri Krishna. This is a holy place. Although there is moss in the water here, one thing and the architecture of this kund is very beautiful.

Potara Kund is one of the four kunds in Mathura and is the water pond where baby clothes of Lord Krishna were washed in his childhood. The water tank is made in red sandstone and hs steps to descend inside. The place is a popular tourist spot and is thronged by pilgrims. The red sandstone structure if an important sight for the pilgrims visiting Mathura. The Potara Kund is one of the few sites in Mathura preserved by the tourism authorities to develop into a tourists spot.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Mathura Vrindavan trip! The rich cultural experience, historical sites, and vibrant atmosphere made it a truly memorable journey. The temples were awe-inspiring, and the local cuisine was delicious. The overall hospitality and warmth of the people added to the charm. A definite 5-star rating for an enriching and delightful travel experience!
