I usually visit Monterey in Matthews, but decided to give Azteca a try since it's nearby. First, all of the dips for the chips were horrible, the salsa tasted like pure onions, the hot salsa looked like french dressing and was just hot sauce. My sister and I decided that maybe the entree's would be great to make up for the chips n dip. My sister ordered the chicken chimichanga...the chicken tasted old and disgusting. I ordered a combo with beef taco, enchilada and a Chile Reno...never had a Reno wrapped in egg. The meat tasted old, and the food was obviously microwaved. We asked for the manager and we didn't have to pay. Food was inedible! Went a short ways away to Monterey. They are close in distance, but they're miles apart in taste and freshness!! Give Monterey a try, well worth it!!

I have been coming here for years and they literally never disappoint. Food is so flavorful and authentic and staff is always friendly. My fave dish is the deluxe burrito but decided to venture out and get a steak dish and it was simply amazing.

Azteca is a wonderfully authentic Hispanic experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the colorful atmosphere and the interactions with the polite and attentive staff. Perhaps most important though is the quality of the food. Reasonable prices for nice sized portions and quality ingredients. We loved the table-side guacamole. It was delicious. The menu provided a huge selection of meal options, including customizable combinations. They also have a nice dessert selection.

Its a great Mexican restaurant. Ambience inside is very impressive with beautiful artwork & wall decor. There was live music in the evening when we visited. The whole atmosphere was great for a family dinner. Loved their margaritas. Also liked the fish tacos and burrito. Good option for dinner & drinks with music.

An amazing experience! Everything is made fresh, right down to the hot sauce. Portions are filling. Service was spot on perfection, from hostess to servers! Ivan anticipated our every need, and Javier made spectacular guacamole. We will definitely be returning.

This place is great. We were seated very quickly. Had our drinks brought just as fast. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was good. 8/10 in my book. (Needed a touch of salt but not a big deal) I would give this place 5 stars, but they are a bit pricey. My bill was much higher than I anticipated. Keep that in mind. Other than that, I definitely recommend them!

First time at the restaurant. Oscar was the best server and great to talk to. Answered all the questions about menu and deserts. Great service and food was great. Atmosphere was authentic and all of the staff was great. We will be back for sure.

Well, we had a mixed experience with Azteca Mexican Restaurant yesterday. Positives : Ambience is nice. Salsa was delicious. The person who made guacamole was very friendly. Guacamole was prepared according to our taste. Our server was super friendly. Needs Improvement : We were seated in a booth which was pretty cramped. Fajita Chicken and Shrimp was kinda ok. We ordered Shrimp Tacos and it didn't taste good at all. Tacos were soggy. Bottom Line : I'd not spend my money again in Azteca with the food of such quality.

Always great food but I felt like social distancing was more like 2 feet than 6 between tables.

Came here for the first time with my husband. We were impressed the moment we walked in. The decor and overall atmosphere is outstanding. The food was great too! My husband ordered the number 7 small combination (one chimichanga) as seen in pictures. I got the number 14 small combination (two enchiladas), also have a picture attached. The service was great too, our server did a great job and he was so nice! The price of the food is pretty good, especially for the portion size!

Sizzling shrimp 🍤 Fajitas that are tender & delicious☺️. The chef in the kitchen must really know their stuff!. The Margaritas are first rate🥇& very refreshing too🍹 Azteca is truly a place to have a nice lunch, dinner or even takeout. We went on a Friday night. They seemed a bit slow for a typical Friday at around 6pm for the area. However, keep in mind this place has a huge seating capacity. This location is great with atmosphere. They are very decorated and do a great job on the overall atmophere / themeing of the restaurant. It's not just a generic gray wall with a picture... We went for the fresh gruacamole. They bring a cart over to your table and make it fresh on site in front of you. Fun experience and worth trying. The salsa varies. In the past we've really enjoyed it at this location. It was really runny this time, even the refill. It had good flavor, but hard to get on a chip. The food came out fast. Food was cooked well, but wasn't as good as prior times we've gone (many many times.) Overall the place seemed a bit off the night we visited, even though we haven't been in a while. I hope if was just an off night, but they were not what they normally are. Prices, like everywhere, have really shot up and is not a cheap mexican option. Still recommended for good authentic food.

Deluxe beef burrito was a lot of food. Beans are good. Guac is tasty. Pico is good but you don't get enough. Others in my party who got chicken said it was dry.

LOVED THE PLACE!!! It was so colorful and festive. The food they served was hot n fresh. They followed CDC guidelines as far as staying clean and the 6 ft rule. They came to u to make fresh guacamole!!!! The highlight of my night!!!! Would highly recommend when visiting Charlotte!!!!

Very attentive staff, wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! You can’t go wrong if you go here because there is something for everyone. Portions are large so be prepared to either come hungry or leave with a container for lunch tomorrow.
