Would NOT recommend! Shockingly poor service. Went there this morning and asked for a cold matcha latte and got a spoonful of matcha powder dumped into a glass of cold milk (see photo - tasted exactly like it looks - a glass of milk with undissolved matcha powder). Politely raised this with a waitress and she gave me nasty looks and attitude and immediately shot me down with, "That's how you make it." Told her that I did not want it as I was not satisfied with it and she eyerolled me and rudely took it off my table. The manager then brings back the SAME glass with more matcha powder dumped in and says, "I've added more matcha in". Tried explaining that the issue is this is NOT how you make a matcha latte and he immediately retorts, "This is how you make it. All our customers like it like this". Told him I didn't want it. Same waitress from before gave me another nasty look again later as she walked past. Went to pay at the end of our meal and the manager quietly charged me for the matcha latte and said nothing about it so I had to pay for something that was not made properly and that I didn't even drink. Apple pie was super dry as well. Coffee that was meant to be "large" was just your regular normal sized coffee cup. Overall will never go back. Unprofessional and below average food and drinks. Edit: Shocked that the manager is dishonest and lying about me giving him attitude. Appalling. Taking the drink away and simply chucking more powder into the drink, and then expecting the customer to be happy with that, and THEN charging them for it, is not the solution. My friend who wrote a review was at the cafe too so has every right to write a review. I have several friend who own cafes and this is NOT how you make matcha latte. The photo speaks for itself. I can also see several low reviews mentioning rude attitudes from staff so it clearly is not a one off.

This review is primarily for those who want to come here for the first time at Marua Road Cafe or is having a "brunch" type of day with their girlfriends, mates or best friends. This is by far one of Auckland's most overrated and possibly "hyped" cafe. My partner and I came here and had ordered the Big English Breakfast. It certainly was a BIG disappointed. The scrambled eggs lacked flavour (a literally 10 year-old) could make better scrambled eggs than this. The bread that came with it was stale and the butter was frozen solid. The atmosphere and ambience is alright, it's basic but nothing too special. Toilets were clean. But oh god, the food just lacked flavour, we ordered the hot chocolate too and even the hot chocolate lacked flavour. To be honest, it's really hard to screw up making hot chocolate and Marua Road Cafe proved me wrong on this one.By far, the worst cafe we've been too. Do not come here and waste your money, there are literally hundreds of cafe's in Auckland I can think of that has more value and more flavour in their food and drinks.

This place is clearly a labor of love. The staff are lovely and welcoming. I would come back to the staff alone. The food was good but not the best I've ever had either. Just ok; it felt a like it was trying to be fancier than it needed to be. Still good! Just wish it was more "straight forward" (An egg with avocado and tomato instead of avocado with peas mixed in and tomatoes on the side if that makes sense?)

We ordered the big breakfast and Spanish omelette. The eggs were cooked and seasoned nicely, and the omelette was nice. The sausage was very meaty and cheesy, I liked it, and rosti was very crispy and seasoned perfectly. I would work on the mushrooms, maybe halves instead of slices, and bread, more butter conditioned so it can easily spread. Very reasonably priced. A near perfect brunch thank you

We were looking for a coffee and snack when we stumbled on this humble gem. Don't be put off with it location in amongst the commercial buildings when pulling in. Inside the cafe is quaint and warm feeling with friendly staff. The coffee art was not only beautiful but also a very delicious cup. I ordered a cheese scone, which was really good. It was one of the better ones I've had in a while. My brother and his girlfriend split a chicken wrap they both really enjoyed as well. I would eat and drink here again without hesitation.

While I was staying at an Airbnb nearby I had the opportunity to visit this cafe for a few days in a row. I became a "regular" there during my visit. I really enjoyed the food, the latte and the latte art too (thank you, V!!) I also got to chat with Clarissa, who's the owner, who is a warm and welcoming person. This cafe has rare qualities -- good food, good people and a cozy atmosphere. I rarely come across cafes during my travels that make me wish I was a local and Marua Road Cafe is definitely one of them. If you are visiting or in the area, I highly recommend going here. They have pastries made in-house too, by Clarissa herself!

Love this spot! The place is always buzzing but never overcrowded, and the coffee is very hard to beat. A big thanks to Clarissa and the team who run a very tight ship! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

😐 Was ok. Smaller menu. They used to have a delicious and generous salmon bagel which was my fav. I suspect they forgot about my smoothie - arrived end of the meal. But was enjoyable enough visit.
