Definitely good for your family. You can bring your friend if you want to. This place is very educational. Not too crowdy to visit.

We visited with my daughter's school for a night show. The 3D movie was a fascinating way to learn about our solar system. My 4 year old son was glowing in excitement ✨ afterwards. Good displays inside the auditorium of rockets, spaceships, information about stars and the solar system. Got to see the moon through the telescopes 🔭

I would say must visit place especially school going kids, great knowledge about sky, stars and planets. Observing the starts and other planets another great experience and great level of knowledge kids as well as adults can get from the visit. Four star is because this place can be improved improving the outlook and other marketing techniques to attract people as well to increase the outlook of such great knowledge center.

I was here with a few friends for The Moon Milestone Show. The staff was very friendly and approachable. I must say, the narrator of the show nailed it! It was well narrated and we were loaded with lots of information about the Apollo 11 launch on the Moon. To finish this and as an icing, we also had a look at the stars, planets - Saturn and Jupiter, the Moon and few clusters in the sky through a Telescope! The experience was just too good! The staff here was very welcoming, friendly and was answering all our questions. Some displays based on the Apollo 11 launch themes were made with LEGO! :) I would highly recommend this place, especially this show and would return here for more! Cheers

My bf took me for my birthday since I mentioned that I have never been before and I enjoyed and loved it! (I will now search for the southern cross at night and try figure out where South is). Although, I would have loved it even more if kids were not left unsupervised by their parents. We went to the 7PM Night Sky session and there were 2 kids that were left on their own and sat next to me and my bf at the very back of the observatory (while the parents were all the way on the other side) and I kid you not, they talked, giggled, fidget-- all the works for the entire show (one whole hour+ of nonstop chitchat), even after nudging them to be quiet. I was literally right next to where the presenter was but I could not focus with my other ear continuously bothered by them. So just a tip to parents, please do not leave your kids unsupervised and ruin other people's experience, who are actually there to listen and learn. (And tip to presenters before starting is to remind parents to not let kids be on their own). Other than that, I highly recommend going and experiencing at least once! Ps. shout out to that other guy that told them off after the show.

Went and visited for the first time in 15 years, just after the recent renovations. The new exhibit spaces are amazing. The night sky show was just as amazing as I remember it. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to do something a bit different.

Good ol' Stardome at the Cornwall park for Aucklands' children. Only wish if it were a little bit bigger and more things to explore. Shows its age now... but a must experience for children in Auckland.

Saw the night sky planetarium showing featuring ‘expert astronomy presenter’ who frequently used the words ‘hmm’ and ‘thing’. ‘if you look at this thing you don’t really need to know over here’ or ‘this weapon thing’. Should be advertised as for kids, information was grade 2 science level and had no interesting facts specific to Auckland night sky. Information hall was good but interactive elements lacking as well. Staff at reception were very friendly.

The Stardome should be a must do experience for every citizen and visitor, young and old, of Aotearoa-New Zealand. The huge wealth of knowledge of staff and in the displays and items of interest there, make the effort well worth-while. I learned so much about my own NZ culture there, both Pakeha and Maori, so I felt very valued as an indigenous citizen here. Always ring well in advance, and check with staff if any schools are going to be onsite during the time you intend to visit, as you don't want to be trying to negotiate human traffic jams while visiting.

Good location near one tree hill. However, the facility is too small. Not much to see other than the movie. Should go if you really want to go to an observatory.

I accidentally booked for the wrong night, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly and managed to get us into the show very quickly. We watched the gorgeous Pink Floyd show and were completely mesmerized, highly recommended!

Went to 1pm with grandchildren... pity the dog story was from an Australian point of view... thought something could have been a little more home grown.... The second half was better but perhaps a little more passion and enthusiasm from the narrator 'astronomer' may gave made the show a little more alive. My grandson had some questions thatthe Mc said he would be available for. .. but disappeared straight after the show...😕

Had an amazing and very reasonably priced experience in the dome. Kids really enjoyed it but wouldn't recommend for kids under 8 who can't sit still for at least a half hour. Todd is extremely knowledgeable. Insightful for all ages.

I think we are so lucky to have this in Auckland! The staff are informative & entertaining. The programs are amazing. I've been twice now and the first time was not as good for me as I love hearing & learning the Maori language but required the English names as well (sorry😒) & they weren't given then. This time both were supplied and Mel 's enthusiasm and knowledge made me want to learn more. I will return & I will recommend this place. Thank you.

Went to the 50 minute show about the stars. The young men speaking had a very nice voice kept it interesting, he talked not to fast and was engaged by the children asking questions. Overall good service and clean environment.

Had an amazing experience in 2018, the stardome programs have always been awe inspiring with their neat dome projections and narrator storytelling. It does get very crowded and hot inside so would be mindful before going for family or tourist endeavors. I would also recommend using fully immersive audio visual technology to leverage future programs as it would be a great attraction especially for kids.

Great way to escape the heat for am hour or so and really reasonable at about 25 bucks for both myself and my kid. Was a good show though perhaps a more defined script would have made a easier to understand for my kid who is ten. All in all a fun way to chill out and the actual show was cool. Last night I took my daughter and her partner to the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 50th anniversary stardome show. What a great experience. We had time to kill before the show and there was no shortage of very interesting displays and information available to keep us entertained. The Stardome staff were all wonderful and friendly and very helpful. As for the show, it was an absolute Knock out! We were totally mesmerised for the full 43min duration. I will be keeping an eye out for future shows and activities at the Stardome.

Highly recommended paying extra for the 45mins long movie session. The setup is very similar to the one in Wellington. Overall our family had a very good experience plus there is an outdoor park and playground. Perfect having picnic and bqq.

Place smaller than how I thought it would be, apart from watching the show, my family didn’t think the exhibits were as engaging as other places we’ve been to. Visiting here is something to do on the side if you’re going to Auckland.

Matariki review: - overall really enjoyed it, and my 2 and 4 year old enjoyed it for a second year! - be prepared for huge queues if going on the free day (15 min), or, if going to the longer pay for session book in advance. - last year it was by presenter, this year the show was pre recorded. - I don't like how loud it was, and I'd prefer that when locating things in the sky we turn our head and look rather than everything spin for us each time.

A great place to learn about the stars and constellations. I’m not a fan but family is. The Auckland city council now has over $700 million debits and this place is part of the city council. Hence we’d paid $34 for a movie! Expensive but willing to support our city council and the underpaid workers.

Hi Stardome, The show was ok, but so noisy. The host did nothing to engage with the kids to get their attention (and silence). On top of it, the volume of the movie was too low. Seats facing the front when images are projected through the whole dome makes the experience uncomfrotable as you need to move in your seat to be able to see what goes on at the back.

Lots of levers didn't work in the museum. We went to the 4PM "Looking Up" holiday special and according to the website it should be, I quote "followed by one of our live science demos - either indoors, or a rocket launch outside if the weather is clear!" So you can imagine the big disappointment my 4 kids had to go through when the man just simply said this was for the day-shows only, and not this late in the afternoon. Get your website sorted please to avoid this... we drove all the way from Whangaparaoa, not worth it!

A wonderful place to visit and enjoy a bit of learning. As a visitor from the northern hemisphere it's exciting to learn about the stars we never get to see. Wonderfully curated and easy to navigate, add in that the park surrounding the building really allows you to soak in what you've just experienced and really appreciate the speck of dust we inhabit.
