Let's face the facts ... all Chinese buffet food comes from the same food delivery service, and it's all prepared and cooked the same. East Gourmet is no different. What makes any Chinese buffet different is how well they keep their food heated, how overcooked or undercooked it is, how clean the restaurant is, and how attentive the servers. Having said all that, East Gourmet does seem to be a little better than others. They do keep food heated better than other Chinese buffets, and they do seem to be cleaner, and the staff is more attentive than others. They kept my drink filled too. However, I felt that their rule on making customers wear gloves to the buffet area is unnecessary. Some food items were nasty, like the Bacon Wrapped Imitation Crab, and the Stuffed Shrimp. Their Lo Mein noodles felt under-cooked. Otherwise, most of their food items tasted and felt on par with other Chinese buffets. Their Chicken Skewers, however, was delicious, cooked just right, moist, tender, and kept heated. Other Chinese buffets tend to overcook this, making it dry and chewy. This Chinese Buffet does not have the sushi, nor the Mongolian BBQ, that other Chinese buffets have. Overall, it is still one star higher than most Scarf-n-Barfs.

This used to be my favorite restaurant but now it doesn’t seem that great. Me and my friend went there yesterday and couldn’t even finish our food because it either taste old or not good at all. We tried 3 different plates full of food and none of them tasted okay.

Very good customer service and great food choices. You never leave hungry. Although I’ve been fishing at the same place and same time as the owner on the lake Eufala . His ethics on fishing are very poor. Lowering my review to a 2 star ⭐️

The crawfish are covered in baby eggs. The broccoli dinner was old and nasty foul and now I’m sick can’t stop throwing up. This use to be a good place and not it’s just awful.

Me and my kids decided to eat here from out of town since we where staying next door. I know this was like 3 hours before closing, but when we walked in and there was absolutely nothing to eat. They didn’t even have white rice. The noodles where sitting in a tray dripping with soggy grease and every piece of protein that I tried was stone cold. After having absolutely no options my bill came to 47 bucks for 3 people. We ended up just going to Bruams afterwards

It was on our route and a quick stop with food already prepared at the buffet. When you have to wait till it cools to eat it, that is a good sign good is up to temperature!! The place was really busy for a Tuesday lunch so you know food is freshly being put out! My guy had a couple things he said were the best he has ever had…the honey chicken, pot stickers and sauce and the crab rangoon. Lots of options! Soft serve ice cream machine that works better than a McD’s! Wait staff was very sweet and friendly!

For mcalester Oklahoma, this is definitely a good Chinese buffet. I would recommend it especially around lunch and dinner time. In-between hours are hit and miss but still decent nonetheless. I love going here and honestly don't have much bad to say.

Yeah. Stepping in where very large signs "NO WASTING FOOD". Not very welcoming and a red flag; we should have turned around when we saw that. Some of the items were cold, the buffet was not being refilled, I estimate in an attempt to save cost. The dining room was run down and needs deep cleaning. We think the oil may have been old, the fried food tasted..off. Chicken was dry. It just wasnt good. Bathrooms were not kept well, over flowing trash, not clean. We were worried about food poisioning but we saw some staff eating the food, so that was a good sign. However we wont be returning here.

The food was great, the customer service and wait staff were phenomenal, and the atmosphere was very pleasant, even if it was busy. The staff had no problem serving the needs of our large party as we invaded before opening time. However, we quickly became encouraged by how the booths and tables filled up as it was still an hour before noon. The food was kept fresh and hot, the selection was enormous, and all it was very tasty and satisfying. Highly recommend for everyone to try at least once because we could become regulars if it were so far away from home.

The buffet was probably the best looking buffet I've ever seen. There was so much food, mud bugs, whole shrimp, several varieties of crab, salmon, 6 or more types of shrimp, catfish, several kinds of Chinese dishes, fruit and desert bar. Buffet would impress anyone but the food flavors were off. I find it hard to believe such a classy buffet could be so bland. I sure hope it was an off day for them. My wife and I were talking about taking some good friends till we ate. Nothing stood out but the impressive looks.

A lot of the food was room temperature. Should have known better than to eat it but thought it'd be safe. Me, my wife, and toddler ended up with food poisoning or something along those lines (won't go into the gross details) but bottom line, we will not be going back.

We came in after the lunch crowd, and the food was still fresh and hot. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was good and plenty to choose from. Great place to eat!

Ok. All honesty, I love Chinese and cannot stand Chinese buffets…BUT…This one was so darn good and I ate more than I usually do 😂. Soups were on point, entrees tasty with a variety of choices and the soft serve ice cream was actually pretty amazing. Who knew, right?! Anyway, the parking lot was full so that says something. Check it out!

OK buffet. The attempt at stuffed shrimp was bad with a few crab shell fragments. The green beans were very under cooked even for a Chinese restaurant.

Service was done in a timely manner. The water i drank had a horrible tap water taste. Ate around 6pm and all the food trays were full but a large percentage of the food was cold and or tough. Handful of items were good and tasteful but overall a let down.

Not the best, not the worst. I’m usually only in the mood for East gourmet when I’m suffering a hangover and it’s usually quite satisfying. I ate here last week with some friends and the service was lacking. I might be old school but picking up dishes off the table that still had food on them while there were still some people eating is a big hospitality no no. Oh well, I don’t usually expect too much from this place anyway.

Showed up with a group of 43 souls. They sat us quickly. They were very attentive and took care of our every need. The food was plenty, hot and quite flavorful. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good food.

Food was either overcooked or just laid out all day and not very appealing. We never got drink refills or seen our waiter after we set down. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not the best by no means.

I usually leave this place hurting from having eaten too much. Been going here several times a year for lunch and dinner for about a decade. Food is always plentiful and hot. Prices are getting higher but they are everywhere else too. I've never had a bad experience, not once. My son even eats here and he is SUPER picky.

We had a large group and they (the staff) came over while we were eating and yelled hey hey look.. all on one ticket?!?!! We said no ma’am, separate tickets. They came over and asked how many on each tickets who had drinks and were rushing us to get up because at 8:26 they closed in 10 minutes and they wanted us to leave. They close at 10:00 when you pull them up online and when my husband showed them that. They said oh no we close at 9:30. So my husband said so you don’t need us to leave because you don’t close in 10 minutes. Very rude. Do not recommend. Sad because the food was not bad. :(

Starting with the staff, they were quick to wait on me, and didn't hesitate to ask if I needed more to drink or to have a plate removed. Excellent friendly service! The food was absolutely amazing! Everything tasted fresh, and the baked seafood dish, presented almost like a casserole, was superb. The vegetables I added to my plate were cooked perfectly, with none of the flavor lost to cooking. If you have a sweet tooth, you will have plenty of dessert to choose from, with an assortment of sweets or fruits, all wonderful and fresh.

I have passed this local gem several times for the past 7 years going from texas to Missouri to see my mom. Today i finally stopped. Dont let this small town buffet fool you from the outside. This is the best asian food i have ever had and i am super picky when it comes to Chinese food or even buffets. It was extremely clean on the inside as well. The restrooms were spotless. I will no longer be passing by on my trips but instead i will be stopping every time i come through. Wait staff were also attentive and kind.

My husband's favorite place to eat anytime we are in McAlester. Food has always been fresh and the servers keep our drinks filled and are polite. Even the picky eater of the family eats when we go without complaint.
