I made reservations for my family of 6 for Thanksgiving Dinner and was assured the food was great and plenty of it. We made the 1PM reservations. The prices were extremely high. ‘ It cost $339.00 for basic dinner with no alcohol at all. Also, this was the Senior Price. The atmosphere was very nice, the staff was great until the Chef got backed up on cutting meat. The entire line of food depended on finishing with the meat and he could not keep up. At one point we counted 55 people in line. This is not a cruise ship, where they get you right through. Fortunately we arrived right at 1 PM, got thru the line and were eating our first plate before it began to back up. You could not get back to any of the sides, because the carver had it all backed up. The men at our table ended up eating leftover breakfast food in another area. We were not impressed with the salads. The desserts were all bought elsewhere and not very good. Our waitresses were good and despite the major problems we tipped them. I live locally and the other 4 members of our family came into town for the holiday. We wanted to take them somewhere very nice and we were all disappointed and I was embarrassed.

The room never went above 65 no matter what I did with the thermostat. I was freezing, trying to stay wrapped up. All the bottles in the bathroom for lotion, body wash were empty. I got in late and just wanted to go to sleep, but it was still so cold the next day. I tried calling the front desk and no one answered. Hoping now that I went to the front desk something will happen, because I was hoping to just get some work done before I had to head out, but I am freezing so it has been incredibly hard. When I talked to the lady at the front desk, she was like aren't you checking out today??? I had to remind her that it was still really early in the morning and check out was not until noon, which is when I was going to leave and that I was hoping to get some work done before then. Really? why does me checking out after one night matter? just because I stay one night my concerns don't matter? The hotel is nice and clean and pretty, but i kept blowing my nose the whole time because I was so cold and uncomfortable. Update: The room is at 69 now, so much better but still cold. This has cost me so much time I could have spent working...

After coming from a stay at the DoubleTree in Corpus, anything was going to be an improvement. I really enjoyed this hotel from the service to the layout to parking and the room. Room was a large suite that was perfectly cold! I couldnt have asked for better AC! Lots of room to move around, until you get to the bathroom. Not sure why it was made so small when the room is so big. The toilet takes up half the counter access and is in the way to access the shower valve. This part definitely needs a redesign. Something I didn’t notice on the first night that I noticed in the second was all these red stains on the carpet. I took a picture of each one. Some were pretty large, too. And they covered the entire suite. Of course my mind goes straight to “am I in a murder room?!” I never inquired cause deep down I didn’t want to know. But now you know! So maybe take a steam cleaner to this room so people don’t think there’s horrible ghosts. But I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel with so much potential. When I first walked in and saw the layout I was amazed. Rooms were clean and sanitized. Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Parking can be a little tight, so use the parking structure next to the hotel. The restaurant inside the hotel has a small menu for the evening crowd, however the service is extremely lacking. I would like to give Crystal a big shout out of gratitude for guest first service attitude. Thanks Crystal.

Extremely close to MFE airport. Close to restaurants and highway 2. Friendly staff.Full Room service is only available for stays o we 5 days. For other days it's on demand for light touch up. Be aware that this hotel hosts several armed Texas and Florida state troopers since this is a border town. But they are very professional and well behaved.

Nice hotel.. Some elevators don't work. Beautiful Rooms...Just seems to be The headquarters for the national guard and local dps and many rooms occupied by the National Guard and police some said they have been living in the hotel for over a year....

The employees make this hotel, always willing to address and issues, beds are super comfortable and breakfast is great. The star of this hotel is Ruben who is on mornings helping with breakfast. He always has a smile on his face, goes out of his way and incredibly friendly. I had not been here in 8 months and he still remembered my name. When you visit, look for Ruben at breakfast and tell him Cynthia said hello!

The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy all the amenities the hotel offers. It has an indoor pool, hot tub, and exercise room. The breakfast has a good selection including fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, and bacon. I will be here again!

Super clean. Excellent staff. Room had everything. Front desk even gave us a complimentary toothbrush when we forgot 1 for my daughter. Seems like a small detail but I have been charged before at other places. Good location and the breakfast was good but typical.

I was hoping that all Double Tree hotels followed the same standards. You can tell the hotel needs some much needed updates. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the room had poor maintenance. If you stay here and do not need the handicap accessible bathroom, make sure you ask on check-in that they don't give you one. This was by far the most uncomfortable bathroom, it was like staying at a hospital, very little room, which made the stay even worse. The bed was also a bit old that made it uncomfortable to sleep in, not to mention the room was hot. If you lowered the temperature it made the other side of the room very cold, and if you are with someone in the room that are sleeping in the sofa bed they will complain about how cold the room would be. Outside of the many inconveniences, the hotel is located in a good spot and has quick access to many stores and restaurants

Nice big clean rooms. Pretty decent for the price and area. Convenient location. Only complaint would be about two hours after checking in someone from housekeeping just opened my door and walked in. No knocking. Didn’t say anything until she was over halfway through the room. I think she was under the impression I left. Maybe to get dinner. I walked out of my room about 10 minutes before. Then remembered I had to send an email real quick. Ran back up to the room to get it sent off. She bolted after. I got up and looked out the door and she was gone. If she was there in some official capacity, you would think she would have said something. I let the front desk know and they said they would let management know. Other than that, decent hotel.

Close to the mall and many restaurant options. You can tell it used to be an Embassy Suites. All staff were super friendly. Breakfast option not great but nice smoothies at the Starbucks.

We stayed here for a work trip while traveling. The reason I am giving this hotel 5 stars is because of the incredible customer service we received. We stayed here for the week and one night, after a fabulous dinner nearby at Salome on Main, and we ended up purchasing pints of mole to take home. The hotel was so nice to let us store the mole in their freezer for our departure day. On the day we were leaving we asked for the mole, but the hotel staff couldn't find it. There is a barista that works in the Starbucks area of this hotel and she had been pleasure to chat with while getting our coffee each morning, her name is Beatriz. She knew that we were disappointed to have lost the mole. Fast forward to 30 mins later, I noticed a few missed calls on my phone. When I answered, it was Beatriz "Julie, I am in my car driving to the airport. Where are you, I have found the mole!" Any other person would've moved on and not thought twice about the lost mole, but she not only searched after we left and found the mole, she got in her car to hand deliver it before we flew out to go home to California and Florida. I honestly cannot remember a time we received such kindness and amazing customer service. This will be our go to hotel when we stay at the Valley. Everyone in the hotel was lovely, but Beatriz went above and beyond! Thank you again.

If it wasn’t for my uncle recommending this place I seriously wouldn’t haven't booked here. When I checked in all I was handed was my room key no information about how breakfast works, & no cookies like they always brag about. Later that day I went to ask about how breakfast works I was told I could just pay at the time of getting it. The next morning my son and I went to get breakfast there was a sign that read please wait to be seated so we waited and waited there was a worker just slowly walking picking up dishes and looked at us and said nothing. So I decided to get our food and ask to pay after we were done. Well just when were about to sit down another worker comes up to us asks me what room we’re in and says “did you know your breakfast isn’t included?” And says it loud for whole restaurant to hear. I said yes and that I had been waiting to ask to pay before sitting down and no one was attending us while waiting to be seated. I had no appetite after that from being so upset. They also have a mini Starbucks that no one was working. I’ve been so upset with the service of this hotel I know ill never be back here.

I’ve been coming to this hotel for years, it’s starting to show its age, but it’s still a cool hotel. Fitness area is decent, and breakfast could use a little upgrade, but the rooms are huge, and I’ve always enjoyed the stay.

The location of hotel is perfect, but the hotel itself is really outdated. Rooms had a particular stench, and there was a lot of shoddy work around the room. I did appreciate customer/guest services for accommodating my requests such as changing the air filter and spraying carpet with something clean to endure the smell. They also changed the sheets for me while I was there. I heard to skip out on the breakfast and dinner here which I have to agree because there’s decent restaurants near by. Another big contender was that it is walking distance and they have shuttle service to the hospital which was crucial to us during our emergency while traveling. The price points were much more tolerable compared to holiday express down the street which are generally known to be cheaper, but they were ridiculously overpriced and went with this hotel instead, which yes it had its caveats but the rooms were much more spacious compared to holiday express.

The Team is GREAT. GM Eddie is the BEST. Crystal, Fernando, Faith, Adria and many others always offer that Personal Touch and it's a Next Level that makes you always want to stay there.

Showed up at 2:30 pm from a 6 plus hour drive and checked in but the lady told me that check in time is at 3 pm and therefore rooms would not be ready until then. Well, didn’t get my room key until about 3:45 pm. As a diamond member, I was under the impression that early check in and upgrades were some of the perks. The rooms are outdated and mine was dirty. Also, there was no hot water. I did bring this up to the front desk after I walked into the room and the lady said they were having some issues but would check on the hot water. Well, this morning still nothing and.l brought up the same issue again! I don’t recommend this hotel unless it’s your last option. I did see there was a drury inn and suites right across. I’ll let you all judge the hotel and maybe I was there at the wrong time.

This is the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There is trash bags throughout all the floors. Mild and rust throughout metal fixtures and walls. One day housekeeper literally do not leave any fresh towels and when called to have more was hung up on. I’ve never written a never review but this is beyond disappointing. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel.

The place is a Hilton, but it's not AT ALL what I expected. I'm quite disappointed!! I've stayed at quite a few Hilton hotels, and none of them are like this one. This one probably used to be nice, 50 years ago. It's extremely outdated, and it's falling apart! Ive included photos of broken furniture, paint falling off walls, molding is gross and moldy, bathroom wasnt cleaned. This entire place is so old, it's gross. We could have paid less, to stay somewhere nicer. But as I said before, I had high expectations for Hilton. It was awful, and the breakfast I paid over $50 for, was absolutely the same breakfast they offer for free at other hotels. Lesson learned. Will not stay here again.

Very spacious rooms breakfast was good in a pinch but definitely not the hotels deciding factor. Bar was well stocked knowledgeable bar tenders who made good drinks they even gave me a suggestion that is now one of my favorite mixed drinks. Rooms had comfortable beds and nice think cushioned pillows.

My family and I reserved this location for Thanksgiving weekend. Due to weather my husband was delayed and we could not make it our first night. I spoke to the manager, and she kindly said she understood. The issue at that point was that we are honor members and used points... the points we used did not cover the whole reservation. Due to this issue, she could not adjust it on her end. I have to call the honors phone number, and they assisted, but we had to do some funky stuff in order to get it taken care of for us to switch our dates. I did not like the solution but it sort of worked out for us. We arrived to the hotel, it is so cold out, and we requested a crib, a crib was not there, we called for it, took about an hr and my husband had to go get it. Our room was at 64, and mind you, we have a baby, 6 months at the time. Cant use blankets.... so we bundled him as much as we could safely. The next day we brought it up to them that our heater was not working, they said they would look into it. We arrived late, and ready for our baby to go to bed, and the heater was still not working. We did not make a scene, we let it be. our room once again was 64. very cold for a baby.... The next day checking out i confirmed with the front desk about the charges, to make sure we would only charged for one of the reservations, like i had agreed with the manager, she reassured me, and i made sure to tell her that our heater still did not work, and that it was not a pleasant stay at ALL. she smiled, and was a little dismissive. I called later to get a refund because, sure enough we got charged for both reservations, and she was only able to refund me partially. Using their honor points is not luxury, or benefit, We paid much more than we wanted to, and the customer service was lacking quality. Thanks but no thanks for this place again. Even if it's free.

Anyone that stays at this Hilton property will not be disappointed! Very friendly staff and very accommodating to your needs. Also their snack shop is by far the best one I've seen, due to them having so many options. I love that for when I just want to snack on something in the evening. Rooms are also very clean and I love the design they have for their rooms! All in all, it was an absolute pleasure staying at this Hilton Property! GOOD JOB GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Service was really amazing, some of the nicest staff I’ve ever engaged with. I loved all the Amenities Bar, Restaurant etc. Hotel however does need a lot of upgrades. Outside of the pool smelled fishy and near the bar it smelled like a backed up Sewage line most of the elevators were out and stain’s on the carpet was a little unpleasant. Overall because of the such great service I give it a thumbs up.

The location isn't the best but nothing is really far, plus the airport is a few miles away. Service is almost always great. The bar has a decent selection and the bar tenders make the night enjoyable along with the live music from time to time. It's all convenient after working all day not to have to leave. The elevators are always broke though.

The cleanliness for this hotel definitely needs to improve. It looks nice until you enter your room. Ours was 309 and there were stains of I am not sure what on the bathroom walls and door but I was able to remove them with a towel and hot water. Our sink stopper was full of gunk that was so gross to look at. There seemed to be blood stains on the carpet in the room. We won’t be staying here again. The filth in the room is revolting considering it is a supposed 4 star hotel. It’s not what it used to be 3 years ago at all. Needs an update and it wouldn’t kill anyone to give a real cleaning and disinfecting to the rooms.

Older hotel, used to stay here when it was an Embassy Suite. Wanted to eat in the restaurant and even though it is completly set for guests, you are directed to go to the bar to order and eat. I let the employee know that I don't like to eat in the bar and was told in a pretty rude tone that's what I need to do. It is funny how as a regular traveler one employee can kind of change the experience for you if you let them, Carlos is one of those employees The actual room is not bad, seems clean and the desk clerk was pleasant. Sat for about 15 minutes in the bar waiting on service then decided to just eat somewhere else.

The clerk during check in gave me hotel room card keys to incorrect room. She wrote the room 725 on it, my sister was having issues checking in and while I was trying to help, the manager asked me what my room was and he discovered I received the incorrect room number, had I used the keys I would have walked in to incorrect room that was already being used. No apologies were given to me. The room had wet carpet and smelled humid. The restroom toilet had very low water and was clogged with first use. We were too tired to report after a long drive to our destination so we just used the lobby restroom when needed. Overall not a good experience with hotel.

Mother's day brunch...My husband and I went to the Christmas buffet back in 2017. It was delicious with plenty of food! When the buffet re-opened after covid, we brought 2 other couples to your Mothers day brunch on 5/8/22. We were so disappointed. Not only was the food supply low in the dishes, it wasn't the quality we had had in the past. All main dishes were only a quarter way full. Our waitress, although friendly and trying to be helpful, you could tell they were seriously understaffed. The desert table was sloppy and ran out of different items without being refilled. Your famous cookies were delicious although for a 2 pm seating, we had to wait till 3:30 for them to be served.. We had to wait over a half hour for the bacon and sausage to be refilled and even then, it was rubbery. Sad experience for $39.95 per person. Never again.

Great place to stay for extended trips. Nice clean rooms and you can set up your own cleaning schedule. Tanya was an amazing server and always looked out for us whether we were just getting off work or getting ready to go in. I would definitely stay here again.

It's an okay hotel. The first room they gave us didn't have good running water and window couldn't fully close so you heard the street. They quickly moved us and gave us a new room which was better. Bathroom and shower is pretty small and the shower roof vent was rusty. Good for a 1 night stay but I will not be staying at this hotel anymore. Staff was incredible, only problem is the hotels maintenance.

  • 1/5 Mimi M. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel has not been taken care of. The ceiling is heavily damaged in my room. The room looked like it was quickly whiped down. At least the sheets and towels looked clean. The Internet is slower than the elevators. Looking at the reviews, I must have been placed in the unkempt rooms.

We held our Boy's Soccer Banquet in one of their Banquet Rooms a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was pleased as to how it turned out. Doubletree's event coordinator was so accommodating and very helpful with the whole process. The space was exactly as described, the tables and equipment set up as needed, and the food was well served and delicious.

By far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever encountered. First we had one of the hostess/Concierge ask us about getting them tickets to the show the following day. Although not entire atrocious, just unprofessional. Second, I was brought a pizza from their kitchen that ended up having a cockroach in the box. They offered to refund my food and to make me another one. The big issue is how casual the bartender was about this. Ended up essentially getting stranded with no where to sleep, as I refused to sleep in a building full of roaches

  • 3/5 nathan s. 1 year ago on Google
Service was good, cleaning needs some improvement. There were German Roaches in room, and several other guests were complaining about the same issue. Shower drain didn't drain properly, took about 10 mins after I stopped showering for it to drain completely.

Not a bad stay. It’s showing it’s age and is in need of an update. Ceiling damage in the bathroom and bedroom. Carpet nail sticking up at the bathroom threshold. AC made some crazy noises but it worked. Service is what got the stars, they were all great! Breakfast food quality lacked a lot to be desired for sure not worth the price. There are better options in the valley for the price. But it was not horrible. I do think I’ll stick to the Hilton Garden Inn next time.

I was in McAllen for business and chose the Doubletree for my stay. I stayed for two nights. The hotel is a former Embassy Suites and was nicely decorated and it’s very inviting. I was greeted upon entry by Marco who also checked in via text to see if everything in my room was okay. And it was. The rooms were clean and smelled clean. My coworker and I dined in the restaurant and the food was great! There is a bar but there is no happy hour. Not a deal breaker at all. Breakfast is a buffet and you can charge it to your room or choose a rate that includes breakfast. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I recommend staying here and will definitely be back!

My stay at the Double Tree was short, but nice. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to switch rooms, because there was a smell coming from the fridge. The fridge was also out of service, and that make have been making the smell. The King's room was perfect size. My balcony sliding door was hard to use, and couldn't lock. It was a little worn down in some parts of the room like the corner fixtures. The main areas were clean, but I also noticed some dust on the ceiling by the fire detector. I had an air freshener on had luckily. Breakfast was great. The coffee was stale. I wasn't expecting that especially for the price!

  • 1/5 Jan C. 1 year ago on Google
Not worth the 4 star rating. Room wasn’t ready at check in time; had to wait 45 minutes and wasn’t offered cookies. Very dirty and worn Hotel, including ketchup on walls, smeared dead bugs on restroom walls. Carpet in room was damp and sticky with gum stained. Couch had unknown white colored stain. Towels had brown stains. Advertised lunch, but when we went to eat, they weren’t serving lunch. Balcony area full of cigarette butts. We will not return next year.
