This hotel is located minutes off 85 in South Hill. Luckily we were able to make a last minute reservation. We were greeted by a young woman who was very welcoming and got us registered quickly (which is great after a long drive) My husband uses a walker and the room was big enough for him to move with ease. Breakfast in the morning was good. Only minus was there were only 5 tables in the eating area. Plenty of other seating but not conducive to eating…. More of a hang out spot. We paid $117 for 2 queen room. Good value for the money.

This hotel is in a great location if you are visiting the south hill area. Close to everything. The reason for the 4 star is that the pool was frothy. They did have it serviced. They offer a great full breakfast. Make your own waffle area too. Staff is very nice and attentive. Great price too.

I'm not sure where all the people writing positive reviews stayed, but it was not what we found!SImply terrible. We were attending a wedding in the area and needed an early check in. I called about 10 days before and was assured by Jon (the manager) that it would not be a problem. We arrived at 1:30 pm to utter chaos in the lobby. The desk clerk tried to be nice, but she clearly was inept. No rooms were available - and several other people waiting had the same issue. The clerk expedited our room, but when we tried to get on the ONE elevator it was completely blocked with a housekeeping cart! I pulled it out so we, and several others, could use the elevator. The room was marginally clean - there was a 6" square sticky place on the carpet. Only some of the lights worked so the room was very dark. The chairs are awful. The entire room and fixtures were cheap. The clerk promised an adjustment on our bill but I have no idea if we really got it. No one was at the desk when we left this morning and we couldn't find anyone. We have received no email bill confirmation. We have never stayed in a Microtel and will most assuredly NEVER stay in one again. See the picture of the "closet" and you'll get the idea. How on earth do they expect you to hang something in THAT?? The bathroom counter was tiny. Not recommended. UPDATE : The manager has contacted me and apologized for the disappointments and difficulties. He also issued a partial credit for the room cost. So my opinion has ticked up a notch or two.

All of the staff was very nice. The room was very clean. With that being said, I was very surprised to find a live cockroach in the picture on the wall. The desk was informed and said they would take care of it, but this would make me not want to stay there again.

Candace at the front desk was phenomenal help. I was trying to find a good place to find a bite to eat while staying in south hill on a nice little weekend getaway. We had a wonderful conversation. Our kids have the same name!!!! (I’m not going to say it of course) she ended up pointing me toward a nice quaint little hole in the wall called the backyard brews and bites. I will definitely be back. Clean rooms, great vending machines, and great people.

My in-laws stayed over here last night. Horrible experience. The first room they got had a leaking toilet and toilet seat was broken and half off the seat. The second room was given- the bedside nightstand lamp light was not working. The AC was broken and couldn’t adjust the temperature. It was too cold and she couldn’t turn up the temperature to a reasonable comfortable temperature. They had to turn the AC off. Overall terrible experience and wouldn’t not recommend staying at this place

Worst Experience ever!!! My family and I came into town for a family reunion. We were traveling from up North and we checked in around midnight. After a long drive we wanted to get a good nights rest. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. When I walked into my room there were BEDBUGS very visibly moving around on not one but both of the beds in my room. I got my family out of the other room and went downstairs to inform the staff that we would be checking out and why. They refunded me my money and we were left to sleep in the car for the night with a toddler and 12 year old because no other hotel had availability. The crazy thing is we saw them check in other guest afterwards. That place needs to be shut down and clean thoroughly ASAP! They also need to install bedbug covers on ALL of their mattresses!!

Breakfast was a hit. Room was clean. Only thing we were upset about was when making reservations we were told a crib would be provided but at arrival they told us they cannot provide one and said whoever made our reservations lied to us. Besides that it was a comfortable stay.

Stayed here for the first time after a horrible stay at a competitor down the street. Check-in was chaotic. Hotel lobby was filled with guests and only one person checking in and the process was super super slow!! This was the difference of 4 vs 5 star. Took over 20 minutes to check in. Too long! There was a heavy musky/stale smell in the elevator, hallway, and in the room but the room was clean and the view was great behind the window seat of a beautiful farm!! Lysol helped with the smell. Basic amenities in the room. A safe was a nice touch! There was no laundry bag which would have been helpful but not a deal breaker for another stay. Hallways were large and bright. I’m still confused about the sofa bed that didn’t exist but I did book on a 3rd party site so… Breakfast was descent. Staff was super friendly. It was a short stay (overnight) but would give it a chance again if in the area and reviews remain positive!

This is a very nice hotel & it has so much potential to be even better. The staff was very attentive except one staff member did it with an slight attitude. Overall the staff made our stay very comfortable. The young man who manages and runs the breakfast area went above and beyond to explain how to make Waffles and operate the coffee machine and the food was surprisingly descent. My biggest concern was the cleanliness of the hotel and it's rooms. My first room wreaked of cigarette smoke and had a terrible dingy smell. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel but not really. The rooms were not vacuumed completely and the bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned at all, in fact after pulling back the covers i found human hairs in my bed which tells me the bed linens weren't changed from the previous guess that occupied the room. I'm not sure when the mattresses were installed or updated but they felt like you were sleeping on rocks. The current mattresses need to be thrown out and updated as soon as possible. The bathroom floor was sticky to walk on because it wasn't properly mopped & the mirrors were not cleaned at all. However as i said in the beginning of this review the staff was great and this hotel has so much potential to compete with their competitors in the South Hill Virginia area. This Microtel can be a great place to stay. Constructive criticism goes a long way if you take this review seriously and make constructive improvements.

Hotel was very clean, the front desk agent was very attentive with my needs and accommodations housekeepers were friendly and inviting. Breakfast was hot and amazing..definitely will stay again..didn't get a chance to meet the GM heard she is nice..hope to meet her next time!

This is such a wonderful place. My new wife & I stayed here 3 days for our honeymoon & it was great. Extremely nice staff & the room was fresh,clean & the entire floor was peaceful & quiet the entire time. The breakfast was very good & the front desk was so amazing with helping us out as well as the help they gave us. We’ve already made up our minds that every year we’ll be coming here to celebrate our anniversary & I highly recommend anyone to stay here especially if you want peace & quiet along with great everything

Very clean hotel staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the property. The kind lady in the front explained to me all the breakfast options, And hours of operation. I’m glad I decided to stay here because the area is top tier. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Desk staff was great. Breakfast ok, waffle machine out all week. Room had blinking light on smoke detector. Lit the room up. Door rattles every time adjacent room door shuts. Sounds like someone trying to get in your room. Poor, poor cleaning.

Amazing place!!!! We loved staying here! They’ve got such nice decor for christmas!! And if you haven’t met Michelle i HIGHLY suggest it! She was so kind and so sweet! Turns out she’s the GM no wonder why the place was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Thank you Michelle for making our stay so welcoming!
