Been wanting to try this place for a while and today I was hungry and walking past it so why not? Only ate one thing, their ceviche de chicharrón and boy was I surprised. It was a perfectly crunchy, meaty and juicy chicharrón drenched in a balanced jugo de tigre, not too acid but with a nice zing. They were joined by avocado slices and plátano chips to balance. The onion and corn just added extra crunchiness to this piece of heaven. Will come back! I need to try the rest of their chicharrón menu and see how they fare on the other Paisa classics. The menu was too long and I didn’t want to look at it all. Staff was very friendly and helped me decide quickly for this dish. The place looked touristy but not enough to make me feel weird in my hometown.

I would recommend this as the go-to place for everyone who wants to try good Colombian food. They have lots of options (Colombian and some Peruvian food too), and not only limited to Bandeja Paisa and other antioquian food, but also at least some comida costeña mixed in. We tried Antioquia mixto, Posta de la negra, Ajiaco, and Cazuela de Mariscos. I gotta say that their ceviche is not on par with other Peruvian restaurants, but I give them a perfect score because everything else was yummy enough.

Very friendly staff. Very fun vibe. Food is just okay. Very touristy restaurant. The ceviche is okay. Traditional Ceviche - 4/5 Fettuccine Calypso - 4/5 Sirloin Steak - 4/5 Glory Cake - 5/5 This place definitely gives off a “chain restaurant” vibe. Food is okay but the service is phenomenal. My waiter and the host were both super friendly and very nice. I went with the waiter’s recommendation for the Glory Cake. It’s phenomenal. A must order.

I truly amazing experience. We had so much fun. The entire experience was wonderful. The service and food was excellent. But my favorite part was the entertainment and cocktails. I highly recommend it. Can't wait to go back.

Nice place to go and have some food. Staff are super friendly and explain the menu thoroughly with the best attitude. Ambiance is nice as well, ample place located in a nice area Food was fine, nothing extraordinary. Prices were a bit high for the value you get in the food. I've tried the one in Barranquilla and felt it was more flavourful than this one.

The food here was very good. It’s giving traditional Colombian cuisine presented beautifully. The place itself is comfortable with a nice vibe and good music. We also had some drinks here and they were very good. If you are ever in the area you should definitely check this place out and get the guac appetizer with chicharron… trust me lol. I believe gratuity was included in the check.

I absolutely looooooooved this pork dish! It was baked to perfection and went great with the perfectly seasoned potatoes. All the food the other customers were eating looked great too😄 I was scanning to see what to order next😄 Great ambience and friendly & patient staff especially given that I don't speak spanish. Thank goodness for Google translate!

My paisa dentist recommended this place for a special meal to enjoy. We wanted some local flavors, and apparently this is the place. We took our roommate here, and had a decent experience. To start, the food was absolutely excellent. We were all quite happy with the flavor, quantity, and options. I got the traditional bandeja paisa, which is a feast. I enjoyed everything on the plate, including the morcilla (blood sausage). My roommate's ajiaco was tasty, and had the traditional sides with it. My wife's grilled chicken was cooked in butter, and tasted great. Although the food was great, service was not. It took quite some time to have our order taken. We had to ask for everything, including spoons for soup and beans. My wife's order was wrong for some reason. The waters we ordered were not cold, nor served with ice. The service was super slow, even for Colombia. It took 20 minutes to pay the check alone. It took about 1.5 hours for a simple lunch, which is too long. Although I always tip, they didn't even ask if I wanted to include it in the check. For the price, service, speed, etc, I wouldn't return.

Easily the best chicharron i had while i was in Medellin, Colombia . I should have stuck with a more traditional dish for my main entree but i still thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. Leave room for trying apps and maybe even share, family style, if you go with party, to get a chance to try everything

We were in the area looking for another restaurant that was closed. I have walked past this place many times but I’ve never been in there. We decided to go in and give it a try. So glad that we did. We had one of the best steaks we have had here in Medellin. Service was excellent our waiter even spoke English. They have live music a few nights a week as well. We will definitely go back and try breakfast and other food items.

Love the ambiance here. Live band playing in the background. The steak was tender, and the pasta was good as well. The cheese appetizer was delicious. The server also switched out a drink at no charge. Great restaurant to dine in Medellín.

I searched for a variety of restaurants prior to my vacation in Medellin, and I continually came upon rave reviews of La Matriarca, so I chose this place as my first dinner spot to check out on my first day in Medellin. Needless to say, this place definitely lived up to the hype in every way. The food was delicious (I ordered the traditional plate known as Bandaje Paisa), which was SUBLIME. It's a meal that consists of a variety of meats such as sausages, chicharon, rice, beans, arepa, avocado, etc. Definitely recommend. The service was delightful and ultra friendly and welcoming. For how "upscale" this place feels, I did not detect any pretentiousness or snobs here. The drink menu was also really extensive. I ordered the "bebidaso ancestral," which was a whiskey, honey, and lime concoction that did not disappoint. Definitely received this place!

I came twice once for lunch, I had the traditional bandeja paisa it’s a must try on your trip to Colombia. My server for lunch was Miguel a really nice guy. My server for diner was Luisa and she also was super nice. For dinner I had the sea food salad and a seafood tartar both were excellent. If you come Medellín this place is among the best food atmosphere and value.

Very tasty traditional Colombia food in a modern way. Friendly service. Relatively higher price but not to much in that neighborhood. The cocktail are also nice.

Good alternative for the traditional "Bandeja Paisa". Pork belly is baked, and that's the signature of this place. Also, some of the dishes with Chicharron are creative and explore new combinations. Like fried rice with pork belly. Outstanding services. Staff is great and deserves 5 Superstars!

Food was horrible. The tocino was dry and super chewy. Meanwhile there are videos playing in the background of the tocino with a nice crunchy skin with tender light pink meat underneath. Not the case for me, felt like I was munching on dry twigs. Also had the chorizo ceviche. This was boring and unimaginative with banana chips piled on top. Not even presented well. Beers are also overpriced. Give this a miss

Restaurante La Matriarca (The Female Matriarch) is a large restaurant that serves a variety of local Colombian dishes. The place has a bar type atmosphere and carries a fun and lighthearted vibe. It is decorated creatively by throwing together a number of antiques, fresh flowers, bikes, and other funky decor. Our waiter’s name was Santiago and he was helpful, professional, and cheerful. The food has large portions and is hardy and good. We paid with the credit card which also included a tip (“servicio”). Guests need to make sure and ask for it. Mixed drinks were good but it may not be the best wine place (house wines are mediocre).

Perfect place to spend with your family! You don’t usually need reservation cause they have plenty of space, however on the weekends you must check. They play music live and food is very tradicional but tasty! You must go! 💗💗

Food and drinks were pretty good and service too! Only complaint is that the dish I ordered the pork belly was dry. Other than that would definitely come back again! Try their Colombian soda, it is passion fruit and very decorous

A good place to go to if you want the typical Columbia family experience. Food is as good as Columbian food can get. I didn’t like the Bandeja Paisa but that’s very much a personal taste. I liked the other coriander rice with chicharon.

Fun family atmosphere, huge portions of delicious food and great service. Will provide an English menu on request.

Our waiter was awesome. Not only did he mention some of the best dishes on the menu, he also spoke English. The steak I ordered was tender and delicious and cooked with enough pink left in the middle, almost perfectly. The rice that accompanied the steak was pretty good but seemed to be missing something. Also, the drink was excellent. I especially enjoyed the diced mangoes in it and tried star fruit for the first time. Overall, 5-stars is well deserved.

American tourist here... delicious food! I got lucky with a bilingual (english and Spanish speaking) waiter. They forgot the chips with a dish, and we had trouble getting a glass without ice, otherwise a great dinner for my group!

This has got to be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at hands down. The flavors are so amazing. Gloria aunt cake is a must. I dont usually like ground beef but I finished it in my bandeja paisa

A very cosy place serving Colombian dishes. Friendly service. My waiter spoke good English. They also have their menu in English. Large portions. I order a traditional soup that came with rice and plantains as well as avocado. Was full to finish my main course. It looks as an upscale place for special occasions such as birthdays or special dates. A little bit pricey for Colombia but considering that it is located in Poblado......Check it out!

This is a beautiful resteraunt and it is quite large. There are many tables divided into beautifully decorated rooms. The dining and bar areas are spotless. The little brown paper bag they hand you when you enter is to store your mask while eating. The food is delicious. The service is fantastic and they have English menus if you ask. They also have wifi. Many servers speak English.

One of the most wonderful restaurants in a special neighborhood here in Medellin. I’ve been here four times and it’s as special the last as the first. The menu is really full so be prepared to look through a library of dishes. All are amazing and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful

😠 We ordered a mixed ceviche and it was very acidic, you couldn't eat it, the presentation was terrible in a plastic cup. We paid 28,900 each and it was just onion, a small fish bite and 3 shrimp.

👍👍 This is a traditional Colombian restaurant. I went around 12:40 pm, it was crowded but there were available seating. I ordered bandeja paisa. Portions were large and food was delicious.
