I booked and prepaid Hotel Acqua via hotels.com for a 3 night stay on a visit to Medellin. Upon arrival, the front desk girl told me there were no rooms available and a manager had emailed me to say so that day (I have no email in my inbox). She was dismissive and was unable to offer any help or put me up in another hotel. I had to scramble at 10PM with bags to find another hotel for the night. I returned the next day to use what i had paid for. The front desk team was unapologetic about the night before and checked me in. The room is basic and small - the reviewers who call it clean, comfortable and large must have stayed at the 'other' Hotel Acqua, because none of those adjectives are accurate here. The sink and shower were grody, the bed hard as a rock. Music thumped all night through the window because Medellin DJs never stop working apparently and this hotel is on a busy party street. When you leave your room, you are in pitch black for 3-5 seconds due to delayed onset motion sensor lights. Also, the WiFi - I was trying to work from my room and my zoom calls were dropped every 3 minutes. So frustrating. Upon checkout to go to the airport for my flight, the front desk was surprised to see me leaving 'a day early' -- apparently since they gave up my room on Thurs night, they just moved my shifted reservation to begin on Friday and checkout a day later than originally booked. She wouldn't refund the prepaid night's rate. AVOID THIS HOTEL AND THEIR SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $15-$20 a night and stay at a nicer hotel.

Hotel is perfect and at a great price. The staff went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Rooms are clean, has a safe and ac works great. Also guest friendly.

Location is great, hotel is clean but basic. Showers are not good, temperature isn't stable at all. Breakfast is very limited.

Sound travels. Internet bad. Breakfast mediocre. Sound from rain on terrace roof crazy loud. Stairwell noise echoes into room. Music from nearby clubs bleed into rooms. The hot water very inconsistent and you can hear the motor running. They did accommodate a refund after first night though with a 15% penalty and cash only.

This place is ok. The price fluctuates every day which is kind of annoying. Even the staff at the front desk tells you to make the reservation online, which is odd. Sometimes the check in process is very slow. Sometimes if you make a reservation for 2 people, the workers at the front desk will claim that your reservation is only for one person. Most mornings, around 10 am, there is a lot of noise. When the doors of the rooms close they are very loud and will wake you up if you are trying to sleep late. If another guest closes their door, you will know about it. Also the cleaning staff makes a lot of noise and repeatedly woke me up in the morning. It is difficult to control the temperature of the shower; it always seems to be too hot or too cold

Of you want to enjoy the real rumbla this is the right hotel, close to different locals and in the evening full of peoples

Perfectly located hotel with friendly service and very good price/performance ratio! Ideal if you want to enjoy Poblados restaurants, bars and nightlife!

Where to start? The good: great location, spacious and clean rooms with A/C and a simple but decent breakfast (the lady there is super). The bad: construction work in front of hotel with lots of noise and smell starting early morning, very noisy street (so ask for rooms in the back), walls are paper thin so we woke up to crying babies and other guests a lot, but yesterday was the bonus night with neighbors partying, smoking and going in and out of their room all the time. After several requests ourselves, then by hotel personnel we were still awake at 01:30. Only the threat of calling the police and evicting them from the hotel things quieted down. Not a location for families with kids!!! There are much nicer places in the area.

DON'T DO IT! This place does not appreciate it's customers. My friend helped me find this place because it was close to everything. I realized it was above my budget and I know a few other places that are much nicer bigger and better prices. I had business to take care of and no time to look for other options I decided to stay for 3 nights. My 2nd morning I discovered my bank card was gone and checked online ok only to find someone had got ahold of my card and there were multiple charges totaling over $400 non stop. I immediately ran downstairs to front desk asked to use a phone to call my bank in US. Contacted my bank stoped and ordered new card. It would take 7-10 days and not having a mailing address I asked the manager of Hotel Acqua if I could receive mail there and she said yes. I had no choice but to stay at that hotel to wait for my card to arrive. Every morning construction and hammering heavy demolition tractors pounding shaking the entire building made it miserable to get any rest there. I told the manager I don't have a safe in my room I was told they would have one installed but never did. When I left the hotel I had no choice but to to take everything of value with me. This was very uncomfortable and risky. The hotel management and staff knew my situation and it seemed they did not care. I complained about the construction noises and about not having a safe maybe they could give me a discount. Not a chance! They did not install a safe as promised and instead asked me to pay additional money which I paid in cash they made my friend's wait downstairs or charged me extra if I had any friends come visit me. 17 days and still no bank card, low, no safe installed and insanity of construction noises I had enough I told the manager if she can't help me with a discount I have to find somewhere else my cash reserves were low. I found a place called Acqua manager told her I found a place but I'll be checking out later that afternoon she said no problem. I arrived at hotel room and wow! Finally there was a safe on the shelf. Someone had gone in my room and placed it there. Lol not bolted down not secured basically anyone could pick it up and walk away . Anyways I packed my things and went to check out the manager wasn't there and the clerks DEMANDED THAT I PAY FOR AN ADDITIONAL NIGHT ? I told them that I don't have the budget and manager is aware she said it's ok these people didn't care THEY TREATED ME VERY RUDELY THEY REFUSED TO UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION. I told them I don't have the cash and they know I'm waiting for my card and when I get it I would pay IVE already PAID FOR 17 NIGHTS. By this time I have had enough I decided to leave because I'll be back again to check on my card. They tried to locked me in the building. I managed to get out and went to get a taxi only to be intercepted by 6 armed policemen. I couldn't believe it. I told the police everything and suddenly they want to shotgun through my belongings for drugs? I paid the Effen Bch cash for additional night. It was the worst experience I've ever had at any hotel or business that I foolishly supported for 17 days. If I could sue this place I will. The few employees here hate foreigners.

Nice hotel at the end of the main drag so not much noise from the street. All the bars and discotheques, restaurants just a few steps away.

hotel was below my stand interm amenities and the bed with was so hard uncomfortable and it hurt my back , the shower and towel service was poor with old worn out towels dinge shower,

The rooms are not the best and need an update. However, the location is fantastic and makes the stay worthwhile. There are lots of great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops walking distance from this hotel.

Great location! Walking distance to the park and not too close to the noise. Rooms are spacious and clean. My two complainant are the following. 1. My fiancé forgot her ID and the manner which we were spoken to was too harsh for that small mistake. 2. I locked by wallet and passport in the safety box without first programming it correctly. The simple solution is to get the hotel to open it. They have the key to it. But the person with the key is off and if that person is off, the hotel doesn't have another one on the property. The hotel expected me to pay a locksmith to open it. I ended up not being able to open the safe and without access to my belongings for a day. If I had to leave to catch a flight, I would have been in a lot of trouble because of this hotel policy.

Great location if you're into the night life of the city. Set in what is the well off party district of Medellin. Surrounded by restaurants either a step out the door or ten minutes away it's perfect for foodies and night owls. Rooms are comfortable and air conditioned with awesome showers. The breakfast is spot on and also has its own restaurant.

I loved this place, Great location, nice clean rooms, Green energy saving devices re lights power etc. Nice view from the front I think the view out the back may be even better. Safe in the room was a nice touch. Comfortable bed and strong hot shower. The breakfast was good and the front desk people were friendly. Very reasonably priced hotel room snacks. Black out blinds. Overall I was extremely happy with my choice.

Customer service was great here. Odd rule allowing no guests to enter hotel at any hours. Service desk was friendly and allow laundry service. Pricing was based on weight of load
