ABOUT:- The Ghantaghar in Meerut is a magnificent structure that was built by the British in 1914. The tower on which this clock is erected originally used to be a gate called as Kamboh Darwaza. The chowk named after this tower is the Ghantaghar Chowk and the place is called as Zero Mile Point. This gate has later been named as Subhash Chandra Dwar. Further ahead to this place is Modinagar and the road that leads to the railway station. The clock here was specially imported from Germany, and was later shifted to Allahabad High Court. However, it was only a few years back that this tower was restored to its original place once again.

The structure and design of clock tower Ghantaghar is nice but it is so unmanaged. This place is so much crowded and so unhygienic. You can't take pictures and finding a parking place is another headache.

One of the central place of Meerut which has every kind of shop from medicine shops to mattresses to lassi to watches - you name it. Ghantaghar in Meerut is a bustling commercial hub, but people should be aware and be mindful of their belongings due to the prevalence of theft and pickpocketing in the area.

The clock tower at Meerut was built on what was a gate named Kamboh Darwaza.[3][a] The conversion was intended to serve as a memorial to King Edward.[5] The foundation stone was laid by district magistrate and collector of Meerut, James Rae Pearson Esquire on 17 March 1913. The clock was previously at the Allahabad High Court after being imported from Germany. It was installed in the tower at Meerut in 1914. Location It serves as a gateway between the Valley market and Meerut City railway station.Nearby is the town hall. Two other clock towers in Meerut are located at Budhana Gate, and at St. John's Church. Don't forget to have Lassi here.

It was quit a decent place. You can get food easily as there are many shops. You can also enjoy different types of snack like samosa, chole bhatoore, bread pakora, etc. The problem is that, it is not that much clean and hard to find clean(drinkable) water. And remember, you should bought your own water battle else you have to purchase paked water.

Ghantaghar in Meerut is a historical landmark that stands tall with architectural charm. Built during the British era, it serves as a symbol of the city's rich heritage. The clock tower's intricate design and surrounding historical structures make it a captivating site for those interested in exploring Meerut's past.

  • 4/5 Invincible E. 2 years ago on Google
Ancient place and crowded one. Basically known for shopping as there are so many shops for all types of goods and fashion wears. One has to be best in bargaining here else you'll be looted here. Traffic is uncontrollable with huge number of E-rickshaws. You also witness traffic jams here due to these. It's heart of Meerut. All in all worth visiting once.

Really awesome made beautiful clock by humans

  • 3/5 Saurabh S. 5 months ago on Google
Market is good. Pandat ji di lassi is great as always.view of ghantaghar in the eve of independence day republic Day is very nice . Reason for 3 star is bad traffic management and illegally occupied road space by hawkers and shopowners that gives less space for roaming around. The road connectivity and build up is also bad .

  • 3/5 vikram kumar S. 1 year ago on Google
Well whole meerut is so much crowded due to huge density of population. But Ghantaghr is famous for their local market products. There a place nearby called "Zali Mahal" which is specifically for Music Instruments and nearby it you will also find "Football Chowk" which is famous for Games Products. If you have a local guy with you then damn sure you will get good product in marginally discount. I have purchased my Cricket Bat and Guitar 🎸 from these markets.. One more thing is famous there is for non veg food. It's easily available at this place rather than wondering around all places in Meerut. Well parking is a issue here if you reached with your own vehicle have four wheels it would difficult to find a parking place due to its congestion area.

The Club Mumbai is a fabulous spot to have occasions and gatherings. The dinner corridors are extensive and very much brightened with present day conveniences, making them ideal for weddings, gatherings, and other huge scope occasions. The pool is an incredible spot to unwind and loosen up, and the bathrooms are in every case perfect and very much kept up with. With great music, The Club gives an incredible environment to any social event. Whether you're hoping to move the night away or simply partake in some discussion with companions, The Club's feel is ideally suited for any event.

One of the most popular places of old meerut. "Ghantaghar" as the name literally means a clock house or clock tower. During the British rule in India, several ghantaghars were built in different towns and cities, generally in the center of the town. In India, such clock towers have been built in Dehradun, Meerut, Indore, Gwalior etc., among various other towns and cities mostly in North India.

Cleanliness: 0 Traffic control: 0 Crowd: densely crowded Moreover not a good place to visit. There was a time when ghantaghar used to be the tourist attraction in the city but since the meat shops are opened it is no more an attractive place Infact, a place to avoid.

Ghantaghar, also known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dwar, is a big tower with a clock on top. This was built by Britishers in 1914. This leads to a market on the other side of the tower where you'll basically get everything. You will mostly find the local shops here and the place is usually crowded.
