This place is legit and decently palatable. But is it really that good? I don’t think so. Is the value for money (cost performance) worth it? Not at all. You see, I think people are impressed with the free rice refills and the diluted sambal. If you go further and compare the food to what other restaurants offer next door in this basement, this place loses its appeal. Not to mention the truly overcrowded seating arrangement, you’re eating shoulder to shoulder they can’t even have put your food down without you doing a Matrix swerve. Wildly overrated. Not worth trekking all the way here like I did.

Place is cramped, good for solo eating and not recommended for groups. Looks like ready to eat food is cooked and served instantly, especially the curries. The mix is also sold separately if interested to buy as take away. Quantity is less compared to price. Order is taken in the queue outside before letting in to seat (even if the restaurant is open)

A great place for biryani and worth a trip just to get out. The other menu items are limited, just an FYI, as they don’t have all the normal options. You can get a regular or large portion, with fast and friendly service. The taste is outstanding and the spice level solid. Nice ambiance even though it’s located in the underground shopping area.

Being a south indian, I went without high expectations. The dish names are south indian and they have a very slight south indian flavor. There are many other authentic tasting south Indian restaurants that one can go to near Yaesu exit. Nothing tasted like south indian food. We ordered veg biriyani, chicken biriyani, Gobi(cauliflower) fry, fried potato. Among them, nothing were close to south indian flavor. Tea and coffee are not even close to south indian taste. I left the tea without drinking it. Gobi was too sour. Only the potato fry was good. Erick south has added flavours (honey butter, yogurt) to Gulab jamun that is not seen in south India. South indians will most probably yuck at the yogurt flavored jamun.

Saw the high reviews and lines of people around lunch and the other Indian food in Tokyo was decent so I had somewhat higher than normal expectations. This easily was the worst meal I’ve had in Japan. I wasn’t expecting authentic South Indian food but this was worse than preserved prepackaged Indian food you can find at grocery stores. My wife could see into the kitchen and could see them portioning out food from plastic bins. We passed by a few days later and saw them unloading frozen plastic bags of the food.

This is one of the authentic places where we can typical South Indian food, at a very affordable prices. The vibe reminds a lot of restaurants in south india. From the pickle and dal powder by the table to the glass of water, it’s a lot of reminder to Indian food. And the actual food too does not disappoint. The chilli Gobi (decent spicy for Japanese taste) was really good. The French fries with Indian masala was amazing and omg the briyani was so good! They have vegetarian options and that’s amazing. They accept cash, credit card and pay pay. If you are near the Tokyo station or just waiting for your next train, definitely stop by Erick South before you go. The exit to take from Tokyo station is Yaesu central exit.

This is one of the best south indian restaurant I visited in Japan during my stay. Their meal is very authentic and excellent quality and taste. Their service is very warm and courteous. Would recommend this strongly! Their podi and pickle that they serve is so delicious 😋

Pretty good Indian food Portions are a bit small for the price. They should give more curry and rice for the price they charge Taste is alright I got the fried cauliflower and 3 curry set for around 2000¥

Good food and taste. Ample quantity and price is decent enough! The best part is this restaurant is located right inside the Tokyo station basement (Yaesu side). So if one is looking to grab nice quick Indian meal before the bus/train journey it is a good option.

A typical south indian food lover in Japan will just love this place. The ambiance inside the restaurant with the posters of Triplicane bus stand will make and hard core chennai lover become nostalgic. I was just so surprised that the food served tastes exactly like how it would have been if had food in an authentic hotel in tamilnadu. Also to be noted that is the chef is japanese :)

Fantastic and delicious South Indian place. The staff are very friendly and there's always a huge queue especially around lunchtime. The taste of the food is superb, and if you don't know how to eat south indian cuisine, the staff are always happy to assist and tell you of the best way to experience their meals

This is regarding an incident which happened last night at your Yaesu branch where we as group of 7 people , including a child , arrived for dinner . Four people, including a child, were given table seat while other three sat at counter seats and ordered food separately. The four people ordered their meal respectively , 2 veg meals thali , 1 light meal and 1 plate of gobhi 65. Me and my 8 year old decided to share our veg meal and gobhi 65 since the quantity was huge and there was no kids meal available in the the menu. Our friend who got veg meal thali , asked for free refills for herself. Mind you , it was just me and my son who was sharing the meal not the other two people sitting on the table. The staff denied the free refills for her stating the company rule says that if the group sitting at a table is sharing food , no refills will be provided. Like I mentioned , it was just me and my son sharing your elaborate thali since there was no kids meal available at your menu. I ordered three rotis for myself to finish off the remaining spicy side dishes which my son couldn’t. My friend , didn’t share anything with us ! She was asking for refills for herself. If no refills will be provided to the whole group sitting on the table because one member decides to share the meal with her kid then this should be mentioned in the menu card somewhere and not told by the staff according to their convenience. Let me mention this , we love Erick south delish food and services. We have been a loyal customer since many years and have been bringing our visiting family and friends for years. Yesterday also we brought our friends and their father ,who has come to Tokyo from India , to relish the lip smacking preparations of your well loved restaurant. We have no complain regarding food and staff services , I just have a sincere concern , if there is such policy regarding refills then please mention it in the menu card. Honestly, it was unfortunate that my friend has left the place unsatisfied and not full stomach because of me sharing the food with my son. Had I knew this before hand I would have ordered an entire meal thali for my son not caring whether he would waste it or eat it full. Since I cared for the wastage , I didn’t order an entire thali for him and this is so unfortunate that because I did so , she was not given the free refills of sambhar and rice which was promised to be given along with veg thali meal to her according to the menu card. I request you to please look into this matter and rectify the problem so that no other customer leaves the place embarrassed.

Absolutely authentic taste, and the unbelievable part is that all the staff were Japanese (not Indian). It's amazing to experience the authenticity of South Indian cuisine without any Indian cook or staff seen at the restaurant. It's like a magic. Warm hospitality. Cozy restaurant. Loved it very much. I'm a repeat customer, for sure .

Great food. Best biriyani, out of all shops I have had in Tokyo, Australia and chennai. Must try. Slightly expensive but great place. They offer lot more but I love the chicken biryani here... Always crowded. This is a chain of stores all over Tokyo and also elsewhere.

Awesome authentic food with distinct South Indian taste. Roti is nice touch , instead of naan. Staff is polite. Food portion is enough for a person. Cost effective. Easy access from metro station. One of the beat in Tokyo. Thank you guys for serving us excellent food .

This is one of the best places to taste authentic South Indian food. Some of the best from the menu what I tired were Rasam soup (too yummy), Veg Biryani tasted really amazing, Upma with sambar (this is one of the best I would say), Sambar is really the best curries here because of its authentic taste, poori was too good, Gulab jamun was yummy..!!

Eric south is one of my best south Indian restaurant in japan. Whenever i come tokyo i eat here. I wonder how japanese people make tamilnadu cuisines with original taste. Whenever i enter in to the restaurant i feel like entered inside tamilnadu hotel

In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants for authentic south Indian food. We 4 Indians visited this place, and everyone enjoyed their servings.

👍 A very nice sushi bar at Tsukiji Outer Fish Market. We went in the morning and there were tables available. The selection was great and the sushi even better. Ordering in English was easy via a tablet. The bill is attached to the back of your seat, you just take it to the till to pay.
