Fantastic experience from start to end. Came here for my 40th birthday dinner, initially reserved a table for 14 people and had no issues. A week later called to see if I could include 1 more and they were happy to accommodate. Love that no deposit was needed despite my big booking, much appreciated. Had the 1.5kg tomahawk steak and it was heaven. The fatty pieces melt in your mouth. Was soft & tender, cooked to perfection. The only criticism I would have was the sauces were in tiny portions; should be a little more generous for us diners feasting this big steak. Would definitely come back for the steak. Arguably the best steaks in Melbourne. And thank you for a memorable night!

A great, cozy and lovely restaurant to eat with my family. My family and I went to this restaurant for my birthday and we had a great time. High customer service with excellent food quality in an environment with calm and pleasant music.

Hands down my absolute favourite steak place in Melbourne! The steaks here are always cooked to perfection. My go-to is always the 100 day dry aged steaks with the surf and turf - you can't fault it! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a good quality steak!

They have the most affordable yet premium quality tomahawk. I love their sides even though there’s not much options. My favourite is their vegetarian carbonara but unfortunately they removed it from their menu. Their place is nice and cozy with friendly and attentive staffs although they tend to be very busy during dinner time, they still manage to cater to our needs. One thing I didn’t like is the cake charges which should have been disclosed before offering to store our cake and serve it. They charge about 17$ for 5 pax when we only had a small piece of cake (the typical individual serving cake). Other than that, the food including house wine were amazing.

Visited here with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day dinner. And we both loved it so much. The steaks were perfectly cooked as usual. The entree were definitely a surprise! My bf is someone who hated seafood for since birth, but he found the seared tuna very tasty. The desserts were way above our expectations as well. Never a fan of sticky date pudding, but they got me here! It’s definitely one of the best ever sticky date pudding you can get in Melbourne. The service was also amazing. We were well looked after. Everyone working was so kind and welcoming even at such a busy day. I would love to say a big thank you to the wonderful team! Looking to come back for my bday.

Incredible meal. Ribs were tender and soft, with great sauce. The 100 day dry aged steak (700g, but bone is 150-200g) was very tender and easy to eat. Bearnaise sauce and pepper sauce were both great. The steak’s cooked exterior was tender, the pink inside bit apart easily. The fat (marble score 2+) was also very edible abs not rubbery or stretchy.

Absolutely loved this place, the ambience , service and food are amazing. From the beginning everyone was super friendly. We ordered a Paté, steaks, the pistachio ice cream dessert. All was pretty good. Their wine selection is huge and pretty good too. I want to give a huge shout out to the waiters, I think they have been the nicest ones I have encounter in my life. Highly recommend this place. The location is pretty cool too, some amazing graffiti around.

This place is BRILLIANT! All dishes were mind-blowing. Undoubtedly one of the best Tomahawks I’ve ever had! It was cooked to perfection, charred on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. Although it might take a while to be served since it’s a huge cut of meat, we waited for almost an hour but it’s definitely worth the wait! We also go the beef ribs and I would highly recommend this! If I wasn’t sooo full, I would’ve ordered another serve of beef ribs (no shame). For sides, we got potato gratin and mushroom with feta. They’re both alright. Portion is good, and the price is worth the quality of the beef you get. Highly recommended!

This is a nice, tasteful and fairly casual steakhouse that serves up many different types of steaks. The ribeye we tried was nice and flavourful but I was expecting it to be a bit more tender. But I think its just me. The sauces were nice and they went well with the steaks. Sides were nice too.

Came here for Valentine’s dinner. Pretty good value meals with quality meat. My starter (the croquette) was a bit cold when I received it but flavour was good. The kitchen was busy so not a big fuss there. Steaks were super generous in portions and sides were delicious. Fresh hot chips and a nice pear and rocket salad. Dessert on offer was great. No picture unfortunately but if the sticky date pudding is on the menu, get that one :)

One of the best steak restaurants in Melbourne. This hidden gem is well decorated and has great menu selection. The staff were very friendly and the steak cooked as per our requirements. Everything is exactly what you expect from a restaurant like this. Outstanding service, attentive all the way! The cocktails were the highlight! Food was quite good if a little unmemorable considering this restaurants reputation. Pricey place, expected a little more. The tuna entree was perhaps the standout dish.

Really liked the vibe of the restaurant Perfect for a nice chat and hang Oysters were fresh and creamy but a bit tiny Tomahawk steak was cooked well and the pepper corn sauce was quite tasty however a bit too fatty, I ended up carving out 1/3 plate of pure fat. Might try the ribeye next time instead, it looks great on the other table! The broccoli and cauliflower side deserves a special mention they were absolutely delicious

Aged bone in ribeye is delicious and incredibly marbled. 500g is a lot for so much fat in meat that you have to expect an extra trip to the bathroom if not used to such rich food. So worth it. Was a bit bummed only 40+ day dry aged on current menu after previous reviews referred to a 100 day dry aged version (taken off menu 4 months ago when I asked). Fried broccoli and cauliflower was a good accompaniment. I like dipping my steak in salt. The truffle butter didn’t add much to me.

Was quite excited to try this place after seeing the reveiews however it was quite disappointing, not sure how it's such a highly rated place. It's a nice setting but the food was quite mediocre for the price. We didn't get given a menu till 10-15mins after seating. Starters and entrees were good, Had 2 servings of steak, the rib eye and new York Strip. The New York strip had a decent flavour and texture but it didn't have much depth, maybe because it was grilled. The rib eye was not consistently cooked through. Added the the lobster tails but it tasted like it was lobster you could get from Woolworths. All in all the food was decent but not for the price we were paying. Other steakhouses serve much better steak ignoring the fact that they're cheaper. The setting and ambience was nice but food was not good enough to be coming back unless they step up their game. Staff and service are friendly but lacking in attentiveness. 😞

Food was okay, but not good enough for another visit. Limited staff on a Saturday night - water only refilled once throughout the whole dinner My friend ordered a mocktail as they are allergic to alcohol, and the mocktail was mistakenly added with alcohol, we only found out when the allergic reaction came! This was unacceptable. Definitely no next time.

Dry aged beef was fabulous. The meat was sweet, tender and juicy. For those who are adventurous, would recommend the dry aged beef tartare as well. The combination of the beef with the yolk and bread was awesome. Wonderful service and ambience as well.

I had a very wonderful experience at this restaurant. We had a kid in the place and the place is very accommodating. I had "100 DAY DRY AGED BEEF CÔTE DE BOEUF (RIBEYE ON THE BONE)" and it was well worth every cent. Tender, flavoursome and very filling for my insatiable appetite. Duck Pate was medium to fully done which was very nice in deed. GRAVAD LAX SALMON was cured elegantly and it was an unforgettable experience. The waiting service was quite good too.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hereford. Our server Remi was a wonderful person, very polite and kind natured. The food was excellent, zero complaints and very good portions and quality. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, our belly's were happy. We prefer medium rare steaks. We ordered the rib eye and New York cuts we weren't disappointed.

Our favourite tomahawk restaurant since 2019 and counting. Always here for Le hubby’s birthday and this year we got a custom cake as well which they prepared for us at the end of our meal. Service has always been wonderful, the server dropped one of our tomahawk bone by accident and the kitchen sent us another serving of steak (medium rare eye fillet) which was yummy!! We tried the beef ribs (10 hour slow cooked) and maannn the meat just fell off the bone!!! Loving their Alkoomi Sweet Wine always, can even polish a whole bottle of it by myself! Thank you so much for premium dining experience all the time xoxo

My experience at A hereford Beefstouw was generally positive, despite the minor issue. The trainee’s service was a bit unpolished, but they were supervised by attentive staff. The food, particularly the steaks, was delicious, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor.

Hereford is my go to for steak in the city! It is quietly tucked away but it is an absolute hidden gem. I always feel very welcome in here. The staff are ace and the atmosphere is sophisticated and relaxed. The steaks are never cooked wrong. They always have my steak cooked to medium rare perfection. The menu is great. Plenty of options other than steak with a fantastic choice of sides. All of which are good sized portions. This place is perfect for a date, friends and family dinner and a business lunch.

We can here for an after wedding dinner and had an amazing time. The staff were wonderful and attentive. The food was fantastic and the drink selection was awesome as well. We had one friend who had to leave for a flight, they prepared him a delicious meal before the rest of us were ready to order so that he could eat before he left. Top notch service, we will definitely be back!

One of the best steaks that I’ve ever had in Melbourne, pepper sauce was good as well. The table service was excellent. (And somehow I love the wooden dining table, it’s smooth and clean :D ) Definitely gonna come back.

An absolute must try for those who love quality meat. We ordered the tomahawk to share and it was carved table side, such a great experience to those who love their steak. The side dishes were average however, and the service of one of our waiters was a bit standoffish but the energy of the restaraunt and the quality of the steaks more than made up for it. Will definitely come back here with friends for special occasions.

I cannot recommend Hereford Beefstouw enough. Our meal was one of the best dinners and desserts I've ever had. The surroundings were very comfortable and staff couldn't be more friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant

Significantly below expectation. Both of the steak and sause are tasteless. The meat is not juicy and doesn't taste like it has been properly grilled. On the other hand, the chips are really good and the service is okay. I think I will have better enjoyment having a steak in a pub than in here both for food and price.

Beautiful venue and furniture, minimalist, clean, and best of all no music! Our steaks were cooked to perfection, and the coleslaw and the rye bread was to die for. We went there for our valentine dinner and it turned to be an amazing experience. From the waiters to the food nothing could have been better. Only the Pommard could have been more grown up.

We were a group of 5 and I personally ate a fortnight quota of meat! We started off by sharing the Tomahawk steak which was done beautifully. I had the Hanger for my main - it was nicely aged, succulent and rather gamey... Perfect. This place does steak like the old days. Wonderful place and excellent service too.

What an incredible experience! Can't wait to get back here and enjoy the variety of quality steak and meals on offer. Yes they're on the pricey side but totally recommend for date night or that treat. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, steak WILL take long to cook to perfection. The bar has issue on the night but they let us know.

Went here for a romantic dinner date. The vibes were moody, candlelit and romantic ! The oysters with apple were really weird for me and overpowering. The tartare was okay, would have preferred it more creamy. The tuna entree was amazing!!, I wanted more but controlled myself 😂 Steaks were phenomenal, great sears and flavour and softness. I preferred the cheese sauce while my partner preferred the butter, the butter wasn’t strong in flavour for me. GET THE CAESAR SALAD, it’s not pictured but you need to have it with the steak, it’s the best I’ve ever had. The sauce for it was immaculate!

The overall experience is awesome! The place is nice, staffs are friendly, foods are yummy... But it just takes too long to wait for the signature Tomahawk Steak (1.5 kg) to be served. I totally understand it needs a long time to be cooked, but the waiting period is relative long (around 30 minutes if I’m right). In a word, if you are starving, remember to order some starters/entries, otherwise you may be angry because of hungry, otherwise, enjoy the meal and the place.

Had a lovely dinner here last night👌🏼 Their kitchen closes at 9pm, and we were running a bit late. So I called the restaurant and Nicole, a lovely lady, was nice enough to take my order over the phone. Thanks Nicole for that, love you!💕🫶🏼 We ordered the 2 rack Beef Ribs. And Hands down the best ribs I’ve tasted so far😍 the ribs were so soft, we didn’t even need to use a knife☺️ We also tried the “Field mushrooms, gremolata & feta cheese” as a side dish, which was also super delicious, but the quantity was very small. That was only small disappointment I’d say😔 Other than that, lovely experience. Also a huge shoutout to the interior design of the restaurant! Perfect for a romantic date. Steak here was really good and cooked to perfection; probably now one of my favorite place for steakhouse. Service was also great and we didnt wait too long for our meal. Price was very reasonable too. The only downside when we were here was that the venue had some weird sour odour (like chlorine), not sure if it was from cleaning product for the table but it was unpleasant.

Fourth visit here and never disappoints. The quality of the steaks is second to none. This time my brother and I went all out and ordered the 1.5kg tomahawk steak. Yes we ordered one each. It was a challenge to finish it but we managed. It would be a perfect share dish but we don't like to share ?. 1.5kg of perfectly cooked red protein, what more could a carnivore ask for. I hope things get back to normal soon so we don't lose places like this, in the meantime let's enjoy the ones that are trading and this place is definitely to be enjoyed. The staff are just terrific and the service impeccable. Won't be my last visit here.

Hereford Beefstouw is my hubby’s favourite restaurant in Melbourne and every year we go out to celebrate his birthday at Hereford. Sadly, this year we can’t continue our tradition but thanks to Hereford at Home we were able to celebrate with a beautiful steak (and ribs) at home. The food was affordable and delicious, highly recommend!

Of of my all time favourite places for a good steak. I'm never disappointed when I go here. The food is usually pretty from order, and cooked to perfection. On this trip my steak had a little extra gristle/fat than I had noticed before, but the flavour was amazing. They also have a great drink selection! Ideal for a night out with a special somebody, or as a group outing!

I can not ratr this establishment high enough. Friendly and helpful staff, amazing food, well priced in comparison to other steak houses. All in all a delightful and delicious night!

We came for a weekday dinner. The dishes overall were pretty good quality and the ambience was lively. The staff were friendly and quite attentive. The steak was a bit under done in certain areas and the ribs could of had more flavour, but overall nice place to visit.

It was amazingly beautiful, high quality produce with exceptional table service. Tomahawk was definitely an enjoyable experience. Ceasar Salad was a beautiful compliment to the steaks. Beef ribs and wings are a must try!Highly recommended

I went on a random walk on Flinders Lane and found this place. I was thoughroughly impressed. After walking around for about 45 minutes in town I felt immediately relaxed and welcome. Starter was Gravlax Salmon and Main was a 40 day aged ribeye. Both did exactly what I needed them to, satiate and indulge my appetite and tastebuds respectively. They had one of the most unique ways of decanting wine I have seen. I will probably return.

Lovely place for dinner. There were 5 of us and they all had juicy tender steaks, I had the Hanger steak. Yes it was tasty, and precut for me (don't know why, I did not ask for it) but it was not soft, tender and juicy. My steak was a little dry compared to the others. Decent steak house with attentive staff and relaxing ambience. They cook steaks to the correct doneness, so much rarer than what you’d expect. Picture is a medium rare. We had a regular sirloin and a dry aged rump. I don’t feel like the dry aging added much extra to the rump. Steaks are done over a grill, so it adds a smokiness but don’t expect a hard seared crust. All up not bad but not mind blowing. Could get similar steak from a pub but come here for a more special backdrop.

Had dinner with the family Sunday and was expecting an exceptional meal based on the menu and reviews My wife and i had the 500gm Chateaubriand eye fillet with mushroom sauce and the 700gm Cote De boeuf with truffle butter and lobster tails, The kids had slow cooked beef ribs and Alfredo Pasta The service was fast although our waiter was not very welcoming Not much i can say about the steak though as it was not evenly cooked and lacked any seasoning The mushroom sauce tasted like it was from a packet and i struggled to taste or see any sign of truffles in the truffle butter The beef ribs were nice though as were the deserts

I was excited to come try the 100 days dry aged steak as I have tried 42 and 60 days dry aged steaks, each adding more funk to the flavour profile. The 60 days dry aged I tried had a delicious blue cheese flavour to it so I had high expectation for 100 days. Unfortunately the 100 days ribeye did not meet those expectations. The steak was tender and juicy but there was no funk. It had that familiar "beefy roast beef" flavour of dry aged but I'd say this experience was no different to a 42 days dry aged steak. I also tried the steak tartare which was good. Overall the steak was perfectly cooked but for $100 I was expecting a lot more flavour.

My girlfriend took me there for my birthday last year. It was the most amazing steak, for both me and her, that we’ve ever had! We both left there having have had an out of body experience and laughed after we left because we both agreed it was orgasmic…that lasted for two days… Great service, nice, calm and open ambiance. Food is amazing and well thought of in how it’s prepared. I’d recommend this masterpiece to both the unaware and the connoisseur! Definitely am going back soon
