Great food!! Feed Me Menu was superb. Good and comfy ambiance. Real champion in customer service was the lady who assisted us at the outside terrace (curly hair, petite, forgot to ask her name!). We also learned something new - wine cap should not be left on whilst dining primarily because we might take away the wine bottle. 😅 First time to hear that it is actually a law! Ging Thai also takes precautionary measures when taking away your food (as evidenced in the last photo), which is commendable!

A bit of a regular here as love the school prawns (acquired taste!) and chicken cashew stir fry. We also ordered the red curry duck this time but duck pieces were a bit too big. Nothing interesting in the dessert menu..wish there was some sort of sago or mango or something nice.

Was looking to dine again at David Thompson’s Long Chim and was surprised to see it replaced with Ging Thai by Crown. It turned out good news for us diners. Still Thai yet more street vibes, grit, authentic and accessible dishes. Enjoyed all that was ordered. A highlight of Thai cuisine in Melbourne. Would go again and again and reasonably priced.

This place is one word - incredible! It is the best Thai restaurant I tried to date in Melbourne. The flavours are so fantastic and authentic that its hard to find the words to describe the combination of flavours and spices. I usually dont get dessert but the banana fritter blew me away. We had the prawn pad thai and the beef massaman curry. Both dishes were a 10/10, couldnt fault them and the portion size was very generous. The customer service is fantastic too and the staff really take the time to explain the menu and answer any questions. Lovely staff too 😄 I would recommend to make a booking because we tried to walk in 3 times and could never get a free table. The place is super popular and now I know why. Cant wait to go back already ❤️

Visited on a trip to Melbourne. The service was not the best, the staff were quite short and I felt like we were an inconvenience to them. I do understand that it was a busy night in a peak dining area of Melbourne, but still. The salt and pepper tofu was really jelly like a mushy, it was not nice to eat so we didn't. The yellow curry was delish and a good serving size. Likewise, the cashew chicken was nice and had a really delicious smokey flavour. I loved the pork belly bao but unfortunately the corn fritters were a bit too oily and weren't super flavourful. We ordered a cocktail & mocktail which were both really nice. Be mindful when visiting that prices are on the higher due to being at Southbank.

Good flavours and on the sweeter side. Noodles are oily and the tofu and veggies help balance the dish. The tofu was slightly soggy for the appetizers but overall the flavour was there

Food was delicious and so fragrant, spices were well balanced and I loved the prawn lemongrass dish. The yellow curry was creamy and yummy too! Service was nice and regularly checked on us. I also liked the crepe cake because it wasn’t so sweet and very refreshing.

I loved the vibe of the restaurant and the food was really good. The beef in the Massamun curry was just perfect. The crab fried rice was amazing too. Pad Thai was a bit too tangy for our liking and the dessert menu was underwhelming. The desserts themselves were very tasty, but was expecting more in terms of variety. Authenticity gets a 10/10.

Enjoyed both the atmosphere and the delicious food. The servings were surprisingly generous, so much so that I ended up with a takeaway box so full of massaman curry it was practically an entire meal. Speaking of the massaman it was perfection, a balanced amount of heat and the beef was both plentiful and succulent. The toasted coconut and peanuts gave it some textural crunch and every bite was thoroughly enjoyable. Working backwards we also shared some entrees the standout of which was the chicken satay skewers. Typically you find these loaded up with peanut sauce but these didn’t have excessive amounts of sauce but rather a stunning marinade that was utterly delectable. Thrilled with this discovery

I recently visited Ging Thai with my family, and we ordered a variety of dishes to savor the flavors of Thai cuisine. Overall, our experience at Ging Thai was a mixed one, with some delightful highlights and a few areas for improvement. Let's start with the positive aspects. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasing, with its traditional Thai-inspired decor and a cozy atmosphere. It provided a comfortable setting for a family outing, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Now, on to the most important part - the food. We ordered the Fried Rice with Vegetables, Pad Thai with Tofu and Vegetables, and Roti Paratha. The food was undeniably delicious, showcasing authentic Thai flavors that pleased our taste buds. The Roti Paratha, in particular, stood out and became an instant favorite for all of us. Its crispy texture and mouthwatering taste left us craving for more. However, one significant drawback we noticed was the portion sizes of the dishes. Considering the prices we paid, the quantity of food served was disappointingly small. It left us feeling slightly unsatisfied, as we had expected more generous portions to match the cost. While we appreciate quality over quantity, a more balanced serving size would have made the dining experience more gratifying. Moving on to the service, it was average at best. The waitstaff seemed a bit disorganized, and there were moments when it took longer than expected for our orders to arrive. Although the staff was friendly, their attentiveness to our needs could have been better. Improving the efficiency and attentiveness of the service would undoubtedly enhance the overall dining experience at Ging Thai. Ging Thai offers delightful Thai cuisine with a pleasant ambiance, making it a decent choice for those seeking an authentic Thai culinary experience. The Roti Paratha was undoubtedly the star of the show, leaving a lasting impression on us. However, it's worth mentioning that the portion sizes may not justify the prices, and the service could use some improvement. Despite the minor shortcomings, we enjoyed our meal and left Ging Thai with satisfied taste buds and a sense of contentment.

Only 4 stars for food, because of some very dry, hard, overcooked salmon that appeared in a salad. Otherwise the rest of the food was DELICIOUS and properly spicy! Great cocktails and mocktails list too. Service was great, friendly and fast, and they were kind enough to remove the salmon dish from our total bill. Would be happy to go there again.

Ging Thai is my favourite Thai restaurant. The ambience is vibrant and the food, consistently exquisite. Dishes are well balanced and full of flavour. Staff are friendly and attentive, making great recommendations. They’re also great at helping navigate through people’s spice preferences. Winning dishes; Entrees - charcoal grilled chicken or pork skewers, mieng kam betel leaf and King fish ceviche. Salad - the grilled salmon salad, Mains (to share) - chicken and cashew stir fry, barramundi fish curry, green chicken curry, red duck curry, Chinese broccoli with pork belly. If having a curry, order their delicious roti. For dessert you can’t go past their tasting plate.

Dined at Ging Thai last night for the first time. There was a group of four if us so we decided to order the set menu. We also ordered the fish cakes which were amazing and we had received prawn in betel leaf which was divine. We had the beef dish in then set menu replaced to a chicken salad. The food was great, not too spicy and very filling. The staff were very attentive and the ambience was great.

We had dinner at Ging Thai on a Saturday night with friends. Our table was available when we arrived at our reserved time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, service was great and the setting is very pleasant. We chose the set menu which provided a nice variety of dishes. The food was good but we all felt we had experienced better Thai food elsewhere. Despite that, the whole dining experience was very enjoyable.

My wife and I highly recommend this restaurant. We decided to go here for our anniversary, and we were not disappointed. There was a minor issue with my meal, but the staff immediately fixed it and provided extra food to compensate us. The food was exceptional! Incredible flavours. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I especially recommend the Pad Thai as it was the best I've had in Melbourne.

The food is great and kid friendly. We were seated outside so my 2year old had the freedom to run around on the grass infront and come back to dinner with us as he wanted. We ordered the pad Thai, fish curry and duck fried rice which was all so good. Pricing is abit more pricey compared to other similar places and they did not have any peanut sauce on the menu - everyone loves a chicken satay/roti bread with peanut sauce hence the 4 stars.

My favourite thai restuarant! Service was great. Green curry was spicy but delicious. Best roti bread. Save room for dessert - the banana fritters were the perfect ending to the meal.

A fantastic restaurant at the Crown riverwalk, which stands out amongst the many other restaurants in the same area. Great tasting dishes that have high quality ingredients, perfect balanced flavours with an authentic edge. The service is also very good too. This is one of the very best Thai restaurants in Melbourne.

This place is truly a hidden gem. Seriously one of the best Thai food places in Melbourne.. Their food is delicious, love their spiced chicken wings with mint sauce and it was delicious! I love their corn fritters too (absolutely delicious) !! Well, I ordered Stir fried (chicken cashew nuts): which is the best and loved the flavours of sauces in it. The staff was really nice and I never get disappointed at this place. Beautiful ambience and colorful plates and glasses for serving.. The location is in a busy spot; and I believe they their is enuf parking nearby and crown premises. Will definitely be back again!

Cons: 1. Ordered a Vegetable Yellow Curry - gave us chicken. 2. No water bottles on the table, but no one refilled our glasses either, except once. 3. Asked us if we were ready to order, we said please come back in a few mins, never came back. Eventually, we physically had to get up to get their attention because no one would come this way. 4. Dad (foreign citizen & no Crown rewards card) paid, so I gave them mine and they refused to scan it saying it was loyalty rewards fraud and couldn't do it. No one has ever cared/checked before in the last 9 years! Pros: Food was good, but nothing special.

Fantastic venue on the riverbank. We were seated promptly and didn't wait long for drinks and food order. Food came quick despite being a busy night. The food was incredible, bao buns, massaman and flat noodle stir fry. Staff were very efficient and friendly.

A perfect place for Thai Cuisine. There are many in the CBD doe Thai food but they all serve the regular Tom Yum, Pad Thai...well, this one goes one notch above them. The service, the food and ambience is sooo amazing. It's a must visit if you are craving Thai food. The cocktails and mocktails are great as well. Highly recommend!

Decided to check out Ging Thai as it looked a little different to other Thai places I've been to. The atmosphere is relaxed and has more of a Thai street feel which is just fabulous! The staff was very accommodating as we did not have a booking and true to their word had a table ready for us in 20 minutes. Service was excellent, with staff observant and prompt whilst maintaining a friendly and relaxed approach. Hubby and I ordered a few different dishes to share and all were delicious as were the cocktails. The only thing I could fault was that my glass was filled with ice and not enough of the drink I ordered given that it was $24. Definitely would come back and try other yummy dishes.

Date/time of visit: 18 March 2023 @ 18:45 (approx) We arrived just as the restaurant was filling up and managed to get a table. We did not have a booking and were seated in the casual dining area outside. One of us had a chair, one had a bench without back support. Other people arriving after us were offered bar-type seating - high chairs at high tables or benches. One older couple decided not to go with that option. Indoor dining seemed a little more formal (formal casual) and IMO had a better atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful - keeping water bottles topped up, providing fresh cutlery as required between courses, and reading my mind when I was about to order another drink. Food was great. The white fish ceviche was refreshing, fresh, having great texture and flavours. The dipping sauce for the chicken tenders was interesting, different and good lemon grass flavouring. Beef massaman curry was rich and filling (even though the serving size may look small). And the salmon salad was excellent. Quality felt better than your standard Thai takeaway; prices reflected the better quality and also the location (we also ordered wine, soft drink and a cocktail). We were very happy.

Food served here at Ging Thai is quite good. We had entree; satay chicken and pork, minced vegetables and for mains; fried fish with sauce, curry duck, pork with vegetable and for dessert, vanilla ice cream with glutinous rice. They were all delicious. Would definitely be back again.

Authentic Thai cuisine with great texture and flavor. The staff is friendly and polite, and the service goes smoothly with no issues on time. Quiet interesting menu with average size of meals which is great. Thank you, Ging Thai team, for your good work!

Food was great just chicken wings a bit too dried. Fresh oysters, salads was delicious and meat was tender for beef curry.o lol

The food was delicious , good deep flavours and beautifully presented. We were definitely eating with our eyes. Our waitress unfortunately was the only negative for the night. Was very stubborn, no smile and pretty much just gave us the menus, water before walking away. The rest of the staff were more friendly and pleasant to deal with.

ORDERED: 🍢 Charcoal Grilled Chicken: with radish pickle, sriracha dipping sauce ($12.00) 🥣 Tom Yum Goong: with Prawns, chicken broth, lemongrass, fresh herbs, chilli ($26.00) 🦪 Freshly Shucked Australian Oysters: with green nam jim ($5.50) 🍲 Fish Curry: with Snake beans, chilli paste, lemongrass, coconut milk ($31.00) 🍲 Massaman Beef Curry: Sweet potatoes, peanuts, shallots, toasted coconut ($30.00) 🍞 Roti bread ($8.50) 🍚 Thai Jasmine rice ($4.50pp) 🥗 Som Tum: Fresh papaya, chilli, snake beans, heirlooms tomato, peanuts, dried prawns ($21.00) REVIEW: My favourite was the massaman beef curry. For thai restaurants, I always like ordering the massaman because it's a stress free meal. The beef falls apart at the touch, with its tender and soft body that's aromatic. Accompanied by rice, it's a match made in heaven. Fish curry was an interesting take, but was happy to fall back to the massaman when times got tough. Could've gone without the satay skewers though. To me, they were overly cooked and dry. Not the best I've had. Service was friendly, although not attentive. I think we were helped out by the manager; she had a lot on her plate. For instance I just ended up getting up and serving the water myself (even after I had asked her) - name me something that feels illegal that isn't?!

I’ve always wanted to thank Ging Thai & its dedicated staff for their great food & hospitality since Melbourne lockdowns. For those who live across Yarra River nearby, Ging Thai is honestly a respite amid difficult times throughout the then never-ending COVID-19 lockdowns for some delicious dishes at the most reasonable prices in town (Crown Melbourne). Trust me, that Ging Thai dishes still taste good even for takeaways during lockdowns (we weren’t allowed to dine in anyway) so you can rest assured of the food quality. And we don’t have to worry about booking any table way in advance simply because we’re always being well-fed shortly after we arrive at their doorstep. Their staff do take care of us, & I’m sure likewise to all the rest too.

Came here for lunch. The staff didn’t know some details about the food but was very attentive and professional. The food was amazing especially the crying Tiger beef salad. The fried rice had generous amount of crabmeat. The mocktails were very tasty too.

Fantastic thai cuisine that is more refined than others I've had. We ordered the green chicken curry, red fish curry, oysters, shrimp on betel leaves and prawn cake. All superb.

Some of the best Thai food I have ever had. The pad Thai noodles with prawns was delicious, along with the pineapple and mint mocktail on the side. Service is very quick even when busy and the price is very reasonable.

Ging Thai caught our attention as we wandered along the Yarra looking for a quick dinner. The decor is bright and colourful. The scallop entree was truly divine; both in presentation and flavour. We shared a Chicken Pad Thai, which was great and the Beef Salad, which was a little lacking. We would love to return for the tasting menu.

Wow! It was our first dinner out since lockdown and Ging Thai didn't let us down! The food was amazing, to the point that we knew we were too full but kept eating because we didn't want to waste any of it. The service was fast and friendly. We can't wait to come again :-)

We have been going to this restaurant from years now.. the taste have not changed, the hospitality and the service has not changed, the quality and quantity of the food has not changed. It was and has been excellent. Watermelon ginger lime and chilli mocktail is a steel!!
