This garden is located next the Queen Victoria Market, and it’s a lovely place to unwind from the hustle and bustle. During the evenings, there will be people bringing their dogs to run around the dog-leash area 🐕. If you are dog lover or simply want to meet new friends, this is the garden for you!

Flagstaff Gardens is an absolute gem in the heart of Melbourne. This urban oasis is a testament to the city's commitment to green spaces. I'm always delighted by the lush greenery, well-maintained lawns, and the beautiful variety of flowers that bloom throughout the year. Whether you're looking for a peaceful place to relax, have a picnic, or just take a leisurely stroll, Flagstaff Gardens has it all. The historic significance of this park, being one of Melbourne's oldest, adds to its charm. Plus, the convenient location near the CBD makes it easily accessible. It's a fantastic spot to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy a slice of nature right in the heart of Melbourne.

What a lovely day to have a pucnic in the gardens. Provisions from Queen Victoria Markets gave us a delicious feast under the shade of a gorgeous tree, sitting on lush green lawn. As we looked around, it was a park full of people with a similar idea... yet, it seemed like we were well socially distanced. There was a badminton game happening which was entertaining, plus cute pups on leads ( who entertained us). And a perfect day, did I mention, with only a zephyr of a breeze.

Just around the corner from my home is this nice place. In summer and winter you will find there singles, couples, groups and children enjoying their time. Have a picnic, take a walk with your dog or just sit down and enjoy the sun ... And if it is too hot you might prefer to sit down besides one of these beautiful trees.

Flagstaff Gardens is a popular place and a pleasant surprise - on this Sunday in the summer sun it certainly was. If you prefer a scenic route walk along the path through the middle and enjoy the trees and plant life. People took advantage of the grass for picnics or sleeping. Others used the 2 tennis courts. Kids enjoyed the play equipment. There are toilets here and across William St at the back end of the Vic Market. Flagstaff station is at the other end and trams can carry you here. All good fun

Open space, clean and plenty of open green space. Many local jog around and across the park, while others use the large grassy area to let their kids or dogs run around. This garden 🪴 does not have any playgrounds for kids but plenty of space to run around.

A great place to unwind and take a nice walk. Has some interesting history. There is a playground children, benches and a boule club. Also nice to go there when it rains, then it’s empty and you have the park all to yourself.

Grabbing some time with nature done easily here. Nice lawn to laze on, and children run around. The rolling hills give it a slight English garden feel, with some nice calm within the city centre. Good for a picnic or visit to the playground, also walking the dog (on leash).

It's a pretty big park for one so close to the CBD square. Facilities include playground, BBQ facilities, picnic benches though all of those are on the north east corner of the park. There's also tennis courts on the grounds which can be hired through Active Melbourne site. The park can also be booked for events and weddings outside of public hours - after 5.30pm. Some areas are overrun with seagulls and their droppings, but there's also corners you can find to pretend you're not right in the middle of the city. Overall glad to have this green space here.

Flagstaff Gardens is a beautiful city park with mini-Central Park vibes. There's lots of shade under trees on hot days. It's particularly nice later in the day and soon after dark, when the possums wake up.

  • 5/5 Andrew B. 3 years ago on Google
Nice looking place. Plenty of shade from some beautiful trees. Lots of grass to sit down on (and benches too), or even just throw a ball around. A playground for kids. Can be a bit busy at lunch time, due to location. But that location also makes it an easy place to get to and there is usually plenty around to do (atm it's covid season)

May be a good park (picnic area) but one of the worst sites to view New Year Fireworks behind the big trees.

  • 4/5 Joseph Lawrence L. 3 months ago on Google • 90 reviews New
It's a beautiful spot of green right in the middle of high rises. Great views from the gardens. Lots of wonderful flowering plants which make a colourful picture when in bloom. Lots of trees providing shade in the hot afternoons. We were there in summer and it was really pleasant walking on the paths and sitting under the trees. New Year's eve saw a fantastic fireworks display at the garden, with live music performances and food trucks.

Great park with different community recreational areas such as lawn bowling, tennis, and football which requires advanced booking. There are also beautiful trees and flowers based on the different seasons.

Flagstaff gardens has got nice vibes and has very convenient location, train station and metro station is just outside of the park. We were there for NYE fireworks. But I think from Dockland or from some other place we get better view for fireworks. Preparations , security, services were very nice. There were food trucks and lots of toilets, to avoid any inconvenience.

This like all of Melbourne City's gardens is a green oasis with its own character, Victoria is 'The Garden State' for good reason. This one has an historical bowls club for community use & a nearby sport friendly open area, play equip & BBQ's. It is picnic paradise, soft lawns shaded by old growth native trees located next to Queen Vic Market for fresh supplies. A smaller garden it is a safe space to walk & meet at night with good lighting/visibility & conveniently close to Train/Tram/Bus for transport home.

Fantastic park fits for any activities with your loved ones. — Great place for a picnic, walking dogs or cats, friendly playground for kids. Except there are lots of irresponsible dog’s owners letting their dogs off-leash in designated on-leash area (yeah there is a sign which people refuse to read). Actually entire Flagstaff Gardens is on-leash area.

Fairly decent park in the western end of CBD. While not as exciting as the botanical gardens or the Fitzroy gardens, this park has plenty on offer including wildlife, spots for picnics, benches and BBQ. They even have a bowling club in there. Very easy access to the Victoria Market and public transport too...🌞

A relaxing well cared for small public inner city garden with park benches, flowers and well established shady deciduous old trees and neat trimmed grass that is very inviting. Next to train station and Queen Victoria Market. Nice to stroll or relax in, or bring a rug to sit, like on, gather with friends. I saw a few dogs being walked here. Meandering paths add to the charm of this little park that is blind by busy main roads in all four sides.

Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens would have to be one of the hidden gems of the CBD Situated just outside the huddle grid near Flagstaff train station and running along the William Street. Train line is a dedicated full-size city block park. One of the oldest in Melbourne. The park has tennis, courts, playgrounds, alone, bowls, club with bar, toilets, and some amazing views of the CBD skyline. A popular spot for picnics with the Vic market only a quick, five minute stroll away for grab a drink and enjoy the break from city.

It’s a beautiful garden with beautiful trees. It’s not very big but you can easily enjoy your quiet time with the sunshine in sunny days. If you are a dog lover, come in the afternoon for you almost can see all different types of dogs.

Fantastic park with beautiful grounds, wonderful views of the city, right next to Queen Victoria Market, and lots of playground equipment and other amenities for the visitors.

The only large park on this side of the CBD. Worth a visit in the area if you're a worker or simply passing through. It's no botanical gardens, but a pleasant place to walk through. In the night time the brush tail possums come down looking for food from people in the park.

Great events and beautiful garden. Park far and get the tram. Otherwise it's $16-21 for parking on weekends.

Flagstaff Gardens is a hidden gem in the heart of Melbourne. Nestled between the bustling city streets, this park offers a tranquil oasis for locals and visitors alike. The lush green lawns and well-maintained flower beds create a picturesque setting for picnics, leisurely strolls, or simply unwinding in nature. The towering trees provide much-needed shade on hot summer days, making it a perfect spot to escape the sun. One of the highlights of Flagstaff Gardens is its rich history. It's the city's oldest park and features historical monuments and plaques that tell the story of Melbourne's past. It's a great place to learn about the city's heritage while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. For fitness enthusiasts, there are walking paths, open spaces for sports and yoga, and even a small playground for kids. It's a versatile park that caters to various interests. However, the park can get crowded during lunch hours and weekends, so it's advisable to visit during quieter times for a more peaceful experience. Additionally, the public facilities, such as restrooms, could be better maintained. In conclusion, Flagstaff Gardens is a wonderful urban oasis that combines history and nature, making it a perfect place to escape the city's hustle and bustle. Whether you're looking for a place to relax, exercise, or learn about Melbourne's heritage, this park has something for everyone. It's a must-visit for both tourists and locals.

One of the best fire drills I've had in a long time. It's good to see all the people from our 570 Burke Street at Flagstaff gardens. Glad it wasn't raining
