After an amazing makeover, Melbourne's GPO, an iconic heritage listed building, is now a truly unique retail fashion, cosmetics and homeware shopping complex, with nice and trendy, mixed eateries in the adjoining laneway. On the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth Streets, it's at the heart of Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall. Truly a great place to visit if shopping or just wanting a quick bite or coffee in a trendy Melbourne area. Either before or after your visit, you must sit on the steps and listen to some of the best buskers in Melbourne perform. If you're new to Melbourne then Melbourne's GPO is a must visit. The buzz there is amazing!

Lot of history here. Granddad used to sort the mail in the good 'old days!

Melbourne’s GPO is an iconic building and a wonderful location in Melbourne to photograph weddings. The beautiful architecture of the building creates a stunning backdrop to photograph our couples!

Always a nostalgic building to see when when the cbd. Naturally renovated with great retail and surround food precincts. #tomekreviews

The building is gorgeous, although the H&M signage and fake greenery does it no favours. Also the interior, when it was still the actual GPO, was beautifully painted in period colours and now it's all just white 😔. The best of the GPO building now is Postal Lane and it's restaurants. Great eating but also a lovely Lane to walk through to Little Bourke St, with lots of little historic details retained, including the scrapes on the walls from cars!

Use to get stamps, send packages and buy commemorative stamps here. I didn't realize that this grand old dame had a big makover. Still pretty as ever with her quarterly hour and hourly notes still chiming.

A nice place to spend precious time for shopping. The place is no more known to be GPO as now H&M store is there. Situated in the heart of Melbourne city, this place is really nice to sit on the stairs and enjoy the beauty of city. The other outlets close to this place are David Jones and Myers.

Right in the heart of melbourne city. A lot of great cafes around and many other shops! Easy to find, access to tram easily and guess what? Free tram zone! Myer and david jones are nearby as well. For me, i love going to sensory lab and chill out after walk around the city. If you are coming to melb, then you won’t miss out this place.

Absolutely amazing. You enter through myers there's a suprise of 6 floors, with stuff from designer, not a too expensive collection, they have a display of unique custom dresses

This is old iconic building in melbourne. Major renovation was done here and the feel of it is great. Real high ceiling with good fashionable clothes on display. I'm not a huge fan of H&M However they did a fantastic job. It's close to Myers and there are great cafes in the lane way next door. Must visit if your in the city

Iconic building from the late 1800s which stands on the prominent corner of Bourke and Elizabeth. This building used to function as the general post office for the city, but now the space is occupied by a department store (H&M), and a variety of small retailers, restaurants and cafes.

So far, my only visits here have been to the Federal Coffee Palace and the restaurant Ca de Vin. I have reviewed both places and continue to visit them on an irregular basis. I doubt I will shop at H&M, the major tenant, as they don't stock my sizes, but don't let this put you off! It looks an interesting store.

Literally Iconic. Definitely a place if you are new here in Melbourne. Established in 1841, it is the former General Post Office for Victoria, Australia. Down along this path you would have the Federal Cafe (4.1 stars) opened from 8-3pm-3.30pm (depending on which day) P.s / It’s a great little walk or running tour 😉

Was a great shopping mall with plenty of variety of shops. The old building was an attention getter with classic style & design. Visited a few times to compare the prices

Great service as usual. A good selection of delivery options for your consideration. Australia Post are better in delivery of packages, then carriers (no time saving benefits to use of other, these days).

  • 3/5 Jono C. 2 years ago on Google
H&M decent value and quality but online sale items are full price in store as web and stores run differently and they have less bargain racks than other stores in Australia which is already pretty bad when compared to overseas stores

Great plague for wining and dining and cute shopping precinct. The only problem I have is that once you've shopping you can't get out full stop by the way there's a really nice little coffee shop just outside. And go there because they have great coffee and if you're a smoker they have designated smoking area. You'll feel welcome

Shop til you drop.. But stay away from Target. Profiling mofo Muslims make you feel really uncomfortable, like they suspect you of stealing when you try an item of clothing..I won't shop here again.

"I recently visited the Melbourne GPO Shopping Centre and was thoroughly impressed. The historic building has been transformed into a modern shopping haven while still maintaining its original charm. The selection of stores is fantastic, with a mix of well-known brands and local designers. The layout is well-designed, making it easy to navigate and discover new stores. What I particularly loved was the attention to detail in the decor and ambiance. From the elegant lighting fixtures to the tasteful displays, every corner of the shopping centre exudes sophistication. I also appreciated the variety of dining options available, providing a much-needed break during a shopping spree. The Melbourne GPO Shopping Centre truly elevates the shopping experience in Melbourne.

(Translated by Google) A building with many tenants. Very good access in the city. The tram has a free zone, and this facility is close to the free zone, so you don't have to worry about moving around. Prices are the same as in Japan, so it's safer to choose something that you can buy anywhere. Eating and drinking establishments are also near.
