I thoroughly appreciate all of healthcare workers in St Vincent Hospital with great and wonderful treatment and care. All doctors and nurses were so lovely, nice and wonderful. Lovely people indeed. Their care and treatment are so great and advanced. Thank you so much to neurosurgery, endocrinology, ENT and emergency departments. I had a pituitary adenoma removal surgery from Dr Rana Dhillon. The surgery went successfully without any problems. Special thanks to Dr Rana Dhillon. I sincerely appreciate it. You’re the best neurosurgeon. Thank you so much to endocrinologists who looked after my condition so well until I get discharged. I appreciate to ENT surgeon who worked with Dr Rana during this surgery. Thank you so much for great work and kindness, ENT surgeon. I also would like to express my gratitude to lovely nurses while I was in the hospital. I could recover better and quickly after the surgery as looking after so well from lovely nurse, Annie. You made me so comfortable and looked after me so well when I was in pain and unwell right after the surgery. Thank you so much, Annie. Also thanks a lot to great sense nurse, Susan who let me move to window side even though I didn’t ask to. She recognised that I like looking outside of the window to look at the great views from St Vincent Hospital. You have a great sense of making people feel so good. I could enjoy staying the hospital with the great views. Thank you so much, Susan. (I attached the photos of views from St Vincent Hospital) Good and fun energy nurse, Snow. I could laugh a lot because of you. It was fun even just hearing your voice. Thank you so much for helping me discharge smoothly, Snow. Also thanks a lot to looking after me so well throughout the night, night shift nurses, Steve, Emilee, Sophie. Hope your night shift goes smoothly without any code grey. I went to emergency department after discharge to check something. All doctors and nurses in emergency department were so lovely and great too. Thanks a lot for checking me so well. I had an amazing and wonderful care from St Vincent Hospital teams. My parents and I cried several times when we were talking about how grateful to all of your great treatment and sincere care. We thoroughly appreciate you. I left feedback on St Vincent Hospital after discharge but I was going to mention doctors and nurses names but I missed it. So I leave here again. Hope they can get awards or compliments from the St Vincent Hospital. I can’t express enough my gratitude with words to all of you. It was my first experience in the hospital but if I have to come back to hospital, I would like to come St Vincent Hospital again. I highly recommend the St Vincent Hospital teams and Dr Rana Dhillon. Thank you so much for everything. Hope all of you are well. Miss you guys already. Take care. :)

Arrived to the hospital with severe heart pain, waited 8 hours to see a doctor, it was 4am and still had heart pains. Saw the doctor an immediately talked about my physique, he continued to say "I don't want to patronise you" laughed and said "what do you do with your life if you don't work or go to uni." I am somebody who is recovering from mental health issues, he then proceeded to ask "who supports you" and I said my parents which he then laughed about. I was appalled that he could ask me such questions and blatantly be so disrespectful towards me. He then proceeded to tell me that antidepressants don't work and to try meditation and exercise. After seeing a psychiatrist for 6 years having this man demean my mental health problems was disturbing. He brushed off my heart problems and told me it was anxiety, and told me my results where "unremarkable." How the doctor brushed it off as my mental health instead of properly examining me to the point where I felt I was safe to go home. If you suffer from mental health problems you will not be taken seriously and be discriminated against. However, the first nurse I saw was lovely and a beautiful woman.

I went to the emergency due to an issue with my eyes. However they I had to come back home without seeing a doctor. I have waited 5.5 hours and I have paid 500$ upfront since I don’t have Medicare. After sitting there for 5.5 hours I went to the counter and asked the person there how long I have to wait to see a doctor because my eye is hurting and he said can’t tell. Simply that’s the answer I got. Worst place to go. This way of work should be change in all hospitals where emergency should treated as an emergency not as a friendly visit to a doctor.

Think some nurses need to learn basic manners and respect here don’t they! Didn’t get the feeling of being treated politely here or well looked after!! Much better off at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Shame

Last week I had a heart scare and went to the Northern hospital where it was basically stand outside and wait behind the rest. So much for cardiac being important like it used to be. Decided to go down to Northpark Private ED. Yes I had to pay 280 but the minute I got there I was admitted and my partner could come in with me. (Closing down in 6 weeks...great another hospital option gone) As my HR was fluctuating dramatically and luckily caught on the heart monitor. The Dr on duty contacted the cardiac specialist on call and he advised I needed to go to a hospital that may need to perform a pacemaker procedure. The specialist tried from 5pm to 930pm to find a bed. None were available. I have private insurance. Nothing. Finally a call came back to say St Vincent's public had a bed. 1 1/2 hrs later an ambulance came to transfer me. We then waited 3hrs to actually get an ED bed...no wonder there are no ambulance out there, they are stuck at hospitals waiting for hours to hand over their patients. Shocking. Anyway I finally got a bed in ED and from then on I have absolute praise for the staff and their caring and professional manner. Best hospital I have been to where the patient was treated so well. All patients received great care. I was transferred to a ward the next afternoon and the staff their were just as efficient and caring. I was discharged to have follow up with the cardiac specialist after they had kept an eye on my symptoms. If you are told you are going to St Vincent's Public, relax as you will be so happy with your care

I have the highest regard for this Beautiful Hospital and it’s staff. My Late Husband spent many years being treated by the wonderful Nurses and Staff on 7 West. He couldn’t have had any better. Their care of him and me and our family was amazing. People have to realise that when they present at a Public Hospital, the wait can be long and arduous, however, the system is excellent where the most urgent patients are attended to as soon as possible and those with not as much urgency, do have a long wait at times. Please try and be patient, they all do the best they can. If you are not happy about waiting there is always the option of presenting at another hospital where the wait could be short or much longer! Don’t take your impatience out on the staff please.

Just had an emergency op here. The people working here, from the snr doctors to the nurses and to the men and women who bring the meals are friendly and helpful. Frankly they’re also trying to do a lot with little funding. Give them an upgraded building and the facilities they deserve.

This hospital literally saved my life. Every single staff member who works in the cardiac ward are out standing members of this community. I was transferred from a large private hospital in Richmond (Erin St) where the treatment was horrific. St Vincent's stepped up and my family are all so grateful for how well i was treated. Also, the follow up support from nurses, physio and other specialists has been fantastic. This other hospital only followed up for a bill payment :| pretty gross comparison. Public is way better than private.

I checked myself into the ED department in the early morning hours and was helped by wonderful staff: I found every interaction to be courteous, respectful and humane. Admission staff, doctors and nurses were great and put my mind at ease - I also had to see to the ED of the Ear and Eye where I had similar experience . I got the advice and care I needed to both address the issue and make me feel looked after. I feel thankful we have a public health system that allows that. Our health system deserves more funding and support, but I just wanted to shout out the wonderful staff of St.V's in this instance.

Got discharged from St Vincents Public Hospital on 31st Jan after having an angioplasty. I can not comment on the procedure itself, but experience after the procedure is pretty poor. Firstly, they are in a rush to get the patients out of the system asap, and you can feel that rush in the convos. Secondly, the caucasian Dr did not have potineness or cultural sense to talk with people. My wife asked if I will be ok and if diet & exercise will help, he said its all genetic as Pople of south asian heritage are most likely to get it and exercise and diet has a 10% to 15% role only. Alluding that it will be inevitable in the future. This freaked out my wife. Then, they just give a booklet and brief non customised high-level talk, which was not helpful at all. There is no practical guidance on what to expect after getting home in the first few days. They just talk about the future appointments with GP, cardiac rehab, etc, which will happen only after 1 or 2 weeks. Intention seem to pass the buck to GP or Cardiac rehab. Lastly, they slept on my case and didn't forward it to Werribee Heart for EchoCardio, IPC health for rehab, and even worse, they didn't send the discharge summary to my GP even on day 8. I am unable to book a GP appointment as my GP is super busy, and her schedule is booked out for 2 weeks. She can only book an appointment earlier if they receive a discharge summary from the hospital. My wife is on call with the hospital multiple times, and the Caridac nurse contact number is not reachable. Overall, the hospital is not up to the standard expected of a public hospital in a developed country and a world-class city like Melbourne. As a patient, you are grateful to be treated, but the incompetency and laxed attitude of the hospital staff can cause a lot of distress and feeling of being forgotten.

On the whole, it is a good hospital with caring doctors and staff but I am just confused with a policy with regarding asking for lunch at the hospital. I have been there a few times and from my understanding, they usually do provide sandwiches if they are running very late with appointments. However, I do remember vividly that one of the staff did mention that we could also have a sandwich if we ask for it. On most occasion, it was a great service and I was looked after by the staff but today, I was told that they don't offer sandwiches anymore in that manner. Would appreciate if someone could reply to me about this? I attended the Blue clinic...Would appreciate if a staff member could reply but since as I am confused about this.....

Really fantastic care and treatment. Emergency was busy but still felt well and promptly cared for, nurses both in the emergency department and the hospital ward itself were friendly and kind, and the doctors were informative, reassuring and flexible when I was quite anxious about my treatment!

I can’t speak highly enough of this hospital, the care I have received is unbelievable. From the triage at emergency department to the nurses n doctors of that department deserve all the accolades that may come their way. I read another review from a patient who attended Northern hospital first then decided to come to St Vincents. I had a similar experience with Northern hospital where I was referred to the respiratory area due to my chronic emphysema, it was like I am a number to them. Treat the St Vincents staff with respect as they are the ones trying to help you

Yesterday, l was admitted to St Vincent’s public day surgery unit. The possibility of staying overnight, post surgery l was able to be discharged without staying overnight. The staff, including office, nursing staff and doctors were kind, caring and professional. I could not fault any aspect of my care. Also thank you to security who walked me to the appropriate entrance.

I had my second baby here and cannot fault St Vincent's maternity ward. Our midwife Carrie was amazing, patient, kind and a great distraction. The ward was wonderful. We were lucky enough to be moved to the Park Hyatt and it was such a treat. Would highly recommend. I returned 3 weeks after baby was born to see lactation consultant, Elizabeth was able to fix our problem within 10minutes! Very impressive services

Extremely rude person on the phone with no empathy towards a previous patient of the hospital in a difficult situation. Not a good look for a health professional working in a hospital in the front line speaking to patients and family members. Extremely disappointed. Such a let down by front line staff who are a poor representation of the other staff working in the hospital.

Have been attending outpatients for the past 12 months. Have also had two admissions during that time. I’ve been to nearly every hospital on the eastern seaboard, from Cairns to Hobart, and none can compare with St Vincent’s. Fantastic staff across the board, and they’re all happy to be working there, which speaks volumes for the administration, training and culture. Outstanding in all respects.

My sister-in-law was involved in a car accident were she was t-boned by another car and crashed into a parked car, air bags deployed and all, later that day had a seizure. My brother called an ambulance and she was sent to St Vincent’s. she was treated horribly. Because of her mental illness They completely dismissed everything she was telling them and telling her that she was over exaggerating and making it up. Even dismissing my brother who told them what had happened. They dismissed her that night with no aftercare instructions or pain killers to manage the pain. She is still in a lot of pain and is now having to go to her GP to pursues her care further as the hospital failed to treat her. In future she is going to Austin hospital where she will be treated professionally and without obvious prejudice by hospital staff. The hospital staff behaviour was abhorrent and unprofessional and prejudice. They should be ashamed.

Just been discharged today from St Vincent’s after a week in care. The nurses were all so caring and attentive to both myself and the other patients on my ward and the doctors all very friendly and explained everything clearly every step of the way. Have never had to go to hospital for surgery and always dreaded the day but the care I received from the amazing staff has completely changed my outlook. Thank you so much!

I just witnessed a bloke be held against his will and taken advantage of because the nurses seemed to think it was best. What they really done in my opinion was heartless and cruel, they belittled the young guy and wouldn’t even let him walk to the rehabilitation center. They called all sorts of codes and twisted the situation to make him seem unstable and violent but all I could hear from the man was worry and uncertainty because no one was letting him do anything. Anyway when I saw the person be escorted from cubicle 3 ( in a wheel chair as it is apparently procedure and the only way someone can be transported as I heard them in there defence to his begging of just to walk over) my heart broke because he was just a young kid which you could see was scared and I have personally witnesssd a patient be walked over with just one security as well as myself. It was disgusting to see him not be taken seriously and made to be taken advantage of especially when nurses took turns to have a giggle then go back to boss him and strip him of his self worth

I came here not too long ago with severe pain & basically not able to function as a human being. The front desk was very nice & and kind, but I was mistreated by the emergency doctors . They didn't listen to me at all & was very disrespectful about my pain. They said it was all in my head when, in fact, I have a chronic pain condition. They didn't have any specialists on hand to even help me or even provide pain relief even though I have been puking, not able to eat, barely able to drink fluids & in so much pain I can't sleep. DON'T COME HERE IF YOU HAVE A CHRONIC PAIN CONDITION!

The Sisters values are compassion, integrity, justice and excellence. And this really shows from the care you get from the staff. This is the best Hospital in Melbourne and if i could give it more stars i would because it well deserved. Thank you sisters for creating this wonderful hospital from the bottom of my heart.

My GP sent me to hospital today. I've been in many hospitals over the last 3 years. I was in quite a lot of pain. From the moment I entered emergency I was treated so very well by everbody I came in contact with. The male nurse was fantastic, really showed concern & understanding of my situation. The Doctor Who attended me was fantastic, clearly very competent, Dr Maddy Bangham really understood I was very anxious (worried about the possibility of testicular cancer). Even the pharmacist was great, showing real concern & making clear my course of treatment. I've given very positive reviews of st V's before, and am very happy to see the same level of care being given by everyone who helped me. Brett Salwin.

I could not be more appreciative of all the care, support and dignity that the staff from 1C gave my daughter and family through such a challenging time. Every staff member was just amazing in the care they provided us from clinical team to catering and cleaning staff. You do such a wonderful job providing more than just care but the little things that made us feel welcomed. I must say, it's pretty swanky for a public hospital compared to sunshine hospital, Lovely hospital staff who do look after you and will leave you alone when you need your privacy. The meals are not like how back in the olden days of the dull boring hospital food, these meals are nutritionally delicious and quite yummy! I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 night stay here on the tenth floor, giving me the best city view from my window, it's a pity I was too lightheaded to enjoy it, but other than that.. I loved it there, even throughout the COVID Lockdown.

My father was admitted at this hospital and after 4 long hard weeks, he passed away. His admission was during covid where no visitations were allowed. After many attempts to see our father as we could see his health declining we got no visits on compassionate grounds whatsoever. Nurses and particularly doctors on the renal department should be ashamed with the lack of information and when provided information it was mis-information!!! Different stories from different doctors. After several requests for a family meeting, we were ignored. We finally got a meeting 2 days before my dad’s death telling us there was nothing more they can do. I’m writing this as I wish this upon no family to go through what we went through.

I am disgusted by the way they treated my grandfather who is non speaking english. I heard it over the phone it was absolutely atrocious, yet to hear him struggle and understand what the doctors and nurses were saying. The hospital had stated him as non speaking english patient yet not once did they provided an interpreter to voice his concerns. As his beloved family we tried to voice our concerns, and they did not show any compassion and would often hang up on us.

Took a friend to the emergency department for a pretty deep knife cut. He was left there waiting for over an hour and half while blood dripped from his palm. All he was offered was a tissue for the bleeding. Barely 4 other people in the room. I don’t get the point of an emergency department if you’ve got to wait for 90 odd minutes to get yourself checked.

Today I travelled to Melbourne to take my sister for a review at the Red Clinic at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne. I would like to thank everyone there, it was such a positive experience. From the time we arrived to the time we left. The clinic was well organised and the staff were just wonderful. I came away confidant with the advice we were given and had a full understanding of future interactions.

I had a 3 night stay at St Vincent’s after a trip to the emergency room and I could not recommend this hospital more highly. The doctors and surgeons assigned to my case were fantastic, but the nursing staff (especially those on level 7) we’re literal angels - so attentive and caring. It’s never nice going to hospital, but this was definitely the best experience I’ve ever had.

I was allocated this hospital for a procedure and must say that right from admission to discharge , all was above my expectations. Rosy , my nurse was super attentive and caring and did her job in a professional way. She was an epitome of what a caring nurse should be . Thank you Rosy . Almost all of the staff were so polite, attentive and did their jobs so well in the festive season, and I commend them for it .The food was excellent and I cannot complain. there were choices available. I am not sure why people complain about hospital food. All my surgeons were excellent and answered all my queries and performed my surgery well. Thank you St Vincent's staff

Emergency department. What was that awful chemical smell in the waiting area . Doctors, nurses, patients breath it in while sitting in the waiting area and with the masks there is nowhere for that smell to escape. Not good for asthmatics at all. I had to endure it for a few hours I feel for the workers there having to endure that stench on a daily basis all behind a mask. The triage nurse nearest the emergency rooms was lovely. The nurse who called me in was just as lovely. The young lady at x-ray was also lovely and the nurse taking my BP the same. The doctors congratulations you were amazing. I saw how calm you all were under pressure and you were absolutely amazing.

I love the staff at St Vincent’s, the last attendance there was at emergency clinic and the staff were excellent. Whenever I have to have any tests etc I ask my doctor to refer me to St V’s because I’ve always had the best treatment. Thank you to all staff and Doctors who do such a wonderful job for us in Melbourne.

Was very well taken care of by all staff here the entire time. This culture is set very effectively and taken seriously by the nurse unit manager. Full credit for this. Felt I was in incredibly safe hands during my timeki time here. From the nurses, to patient support and meal services. Top marks guys and well deserved I say too!

While my surgeon and his team were fantastic and I’d happily give them 5 stars. The after care of the hospital and the facilities were below par for a private hospital. The tv didn’t work in my room. The aircon didn’t work it was like an oven in my room all the time. I was supplied a useless fan which didn’t work. The staff I mainly dealt with were rude and disregarded most things I said to them. It felt like I was loaded up on pain killers and sent out the door asap. Pretty disappointing to be honest.

I cannot express enough how important it is to ensure your belongings are either handed to a family member / friend or locked away. A family friend of mine had been staying here. Whilst the was room he was staying in was being cleaned, the bedside table where his wallet was stored was moved into the hallway and left unsupervised. During this time, he had roughly $600 stolen from his wallet by an unknown individual. If you're staying here, please ensure your money or possessions are secure or otherwise handed to a family member. Otherwise, my family friend had received great care from the nurses and doctors during his stay.

The worst attention I’ve ever had. I waited one hour to get into the emergency room. After that I waited 4 hours to get the attention by the doctor, until I dressed up and ask to the nurse to takeoff the canula, the doctor came apologizing them but at the end I got 3 pain relief and I told them that I was leaving that hospital. I would never EVER recommend this hospital.

In my opinion this is a good hospital and great for international students and temporary visa holders. There won’t be any out of pocket cost for them when using specialists or other services if you have private health insurance. I am not sure about admitting to hospital but all other services are great. Thank you all for your services dear staffs.

Heartbroken in the emergency department. My partner tried to commit suicide and my parents called the police. They took him here. We waited 3 hours til 1am when the doctor saw him and said “you seem fine” and gave him a number to call when he feels sad. Didn’t even ask what was wrong My parents kicked him out and he had no where to go and when he asked for help they showed him the door Do you have to sl1t your wr1sts for them to care???

The staff is highly attentive to your need and concerns. Had a fracture wrist four weeks ago and have been treated very well so far by this hospital. The finance staff is also very sharp, able to aid the documentations you need to make the claim, providing great assistance and guidance along the way. Couldn't rave about this hospital enough!

Terrific clinic. I've seen several doctors and all have been extremely helpful. Great system with walk ins with a high number of doctors. I have found 1 specific doctor who I regularly see now who is fantastic. Terrific on-site nurses and very helpful receptionists. (Juliette is so lovely!) Very helpful having so many on-site services with Pharmacy, Radiology and Physiotherapy, all of which have been excellent. Highly recommend!

My brother was in St.Vincents from last night, he just finish his surgery. All the Doctor's and nurse's was very kind, friendly, also very professional. I was going home to pick up some things. And mums looking after my brother, the nurse's can tell she has anxiety, and they offer to get her some drink and tell my mum not too worry. We are very appreciate the excellent customer service and all the help from St. Vincents hospitals staffs. They are lovely peoples with good hearts. Their family's should be proud of them. God bless them and their families!!!

Nice hospital but had a bad experience. Nurses didn't respond quick enough when patient was trying to inform about his worsening condition. Patient condition got worse and then staff took him seriously. In charge nurses shamelessly appreciated her nursing staff that they picked up about his deteriorated condition. Patient and family should be included in treatment and decision making.

Aside from having a broken nose, I had a great experience - and this is the weirdest thing to say about a hospital. All nurses were super friendly, caring and with a great sense of humour, which is impressive considering we are talking about an emergency department during a pandemic! Doctor Sarah Simons was gentle but assertive, which was reassuring and calming. I was quickly in and out.

I was astonished at how caring and expert both the night and day shift nurses and doctors were. I'd always had a bit of negative association with hospitals but my short time at st vinvents blew this out of the water. Consider that with some of the negative reviews that people have to be prioritised, that you get heart and other monitoring, and there's always resources to manage but clearly they do an amazing job. Our tax dollars couldn't be more wisely invested.

I am so upset unhappy on the St Vincent hospital treated my Grandfather. I am disappointed from no phone calls coming our way and no communication form doctors and nurses.😡 my Grandfather was in pain and did not get treated. He could not speak English as he was Greek and could not get a translter to come and help. The doctors failed him in so many ways. He was strong as a rock he had it in him to fight the infection he had. A couple of days before he passed we had a family meeting that they couldn’t do anymore to treat him. He could have been living his life but the Saint Vincent’s hospital let him down. NOT HAPPY AT ALL! 😡😡😡

Extremely unhappy with the way they treated my father. In particular a Dr that had zero compassion nor empathy towards my father.

  • 1/5 Helene P. 2 years ago on Google
There is more to the healthcare profession than just the medical aspect. A health care professional requires certain values of humanity such as care, empathy and uphold a nurturing persona. Unfortunately my grandfather did not experience any of this in his time at St Vincent’s hospital and that resulted in his recent passing. My grandfather is the strongest person I know. He was labelled on multiple occasions a priority and was stated he needed urgent treatment yet was neglected and pushed aside. He spent his last month on Earth in hospital alone. It was not his time, yet the lack of care for his needs resulted in this. I have worked in care settings myself and can not fathom how care etiquette is not a priority in this hospital. Where is the humanity and respect the elderly deserve?

Been in line for the fever clinic for a covid test over an hour and havent moved. There is noone managing the ever increasing line or letting us know what is going on. It makes me wonder what kind of capacity they have. There are people in line that are elderly and sick standing this entire time in the cold.

  • 1/5 Rowan N. 2 years ago on Google

The evening of March 9th, 2022 I presented at St Vincent’s Melbourne ED with a swollen, non weight bearing injury to my ankle. The doctor and nurses made fun of the boot and crutches I had immediately given to myself as I could not weight bare without them. They sent me to X-ray and I was told nothing was broken and I should leave the boot off. Returning to Sydney SIX days later, I visited my GP who did an X-ray, and was sent to ED at Royal North Shore Hospital where they diagnosed breaks in my lateral malleolus and the posterior malleolus of the tibia and the head of my fibula with some ligament tears. My Orthopedic Surgen wanted to know how they could have not seen the breaks. Shame on the doctors and nurses at St Vincent’s Melbourne. Perhaps you need to go back to school. However the administration staff in ED were wonderful, caring and compassionate.

Absolutely appalling treatment in day procedures clinic by admin and screening staff upon arrival. Very unprofessional and rude. Also the Barbara Walker Clinic is disgraceful. 2 different areas I’ve been a patient in this public hospital and both were awful experiences. There needs to be emphasis on respectful, professional care/treatment and communication towards patients. Staff training is vital and should be reviewed.

I was admitted here 2 nights ago after passing out on the toilet at home alone due to constipation...(yes, so embarrassing) due to strong painkillers from my ACL surgery in kew on 25/2. Ambulance came in 20 mins. I was told to wait in the waiting room whilst I wait for a bed. My blood pressure dropped and my stomach pain was 8/10 and was trying not to pass out. I was seen in 30 mins. The only mishap whilst waiting, there was a woman laying on the ground in the waiting room screaming in pain (i think she had a miscarriage) but the receptionists just told her to wait rudely (will never forget what I saw) I was treated and kept overnight. The nurses were lovely and kept me out of pain and really looked after me. Thank you Joanne, you were amazing. The paramedics even took the privilege of driving me home as I'm on crutches and my apartment removed its wheelchair access. Very caring

This was my first time attending the ED at this hospital. I was blown away with the level of care I received. The staff were friendly, attaintive, extremely caring and really listened to me and my concerns. Dr. Alex took his time to ask me about my symptoms and my past medical history. Given that we are in the middle of a hospital/ambulance crisis, this was not felt today as all staff were still putting 110% into their jobs. I would like to thank all the staff who helped me get on the road to recovery. In particular I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Alex, Dr. Peter, Nurse Lindsey and Nurse Linda. We need more doctors and nurses like you.

Visited Emergency Department Due to severe low back pain. The night administration staff was friendly and was very happy with the service at the start. The issue was the long waiting after registering the information. You can find yourself waiting from 9:30 pm to 3 am just to get into the room for the nurse to check the blood pressure. Then after addressing the problem with the nurse He took the blood and went off for two hours then came back with the result and keep saying the doctor will need to see me and waited for another 4 hours then the doctor came just to discharge me at 9 am then Emergency Alert service Counselor came without informing. So if anyone has a child or children with them at the hospital they will find themselves with an Emergency Alert counselor asking a series of questions about family situations and living stands such as housing and concern. So if you don't want to find yourself being suspicious and don't want to share about your private life with them if you are the primary carer for your children it's best to leave your children with families or friends who can mind your children while you are in the hospital.

I am amazed about the professionalism and patience of the staff in this place. They have been very detailed in what I had to go through and what was the cause of my pains. Could never thank enough the doctors and nurses to help me getting out of the situation I was having. They were really good in what they were doing. The only thing that I would point out is that I had to wait 14 hours before an operation. Although I can totally understand it’s not that easy to treat a lot of people at once in the emergency and do all the necessary tests.

The worst experience I’ve had till yet. Been there around 3-4 times all during midnights due to chest pain and shortness of breath. Literally, no one assisted (no triage nurses or staff at the front desk most of the time) for the first 30 mins; then kept waiting for my turn after admission for another 1.5 hours. When the doctor came and assessed; didn’t do much and simply ran a test or two. Their final words were ‘you can be assured you won’t die tonight; we can’t figure out the rest. Visit OPD for more info’. Neither the doctors nor the nurses paid much attention. They were completely negligent and the standard of care is in negative.

Well I never thought I'd write a review like this for St Vincent, but here we are. St Vincent used to be my safe space when I was psychotic or suicidal from my drug addiction. But I've now been told that the nurses in ED are starting to get frustrated at me not because of my behavior or attitude as they've always said that I am very well behaved, kind, respectful and polite but due to my frequency of attendance (I won the award for most frequent ED patient, literally the main nurse told me I'm the most frequent patient) and essentially I've been told to cut back on presentation or better not present at all. Knowing full well I have borderline personality disorder and knowing how it affects my mental health and thinking this was devastating to me to hear. I had one safe space left for when I was suicidal or scared in psychotic episodes and now its gone. I guess next time I'm suicidal or in a psychotic episode I'll just let nature take it's course, unfortunately the consequences of that will be fatal, or at least devastating as I almost became paralyzed on my last suicide attempt, I did fracture my spine in two locations, when I jumped off the bridge. Well maybe next attempt I'll end up in st Vincent morgue. To the nurses I've frustrated, I'd just like to know what I have done, did I say something or do something. I don't understand what I've done to be told I'm no longer welcome. Well my heart is broken To the nurses that still like me, thankyou for trying to save me, but this new news will be the end of me.

Very disappointed with organisation at hospital. Was called day prior to day surgery for a biopsy and advised to be at hospital at 6.45 which meant leaving home at 5 am. When early time was questioned was told I was 1st op for the day. I was prepared for surgery at 8.30 am. At 12 o’clock I was still waiting. At 3pm my husband came to ward and complained nicely and was told half an hour (everything is half an hour) which didn’t happen. At that stage I wanted to leave but was convinced to stay and eventually got into surgery around 4.30 meaning I had waited over 10 hours and reason given was it was a “busy day”. No reason why I was shifted from 1st to last procedure for the day.

Had a 3 hour wait to start with. Then spent 4 hours with staff twiddling their thumbs, doing nothing more than giving me an IV for rehydration. Not even pain meds or anything for my issue. Ended up going home exhausted, just as sick and in pain as when I had arrived.

Drilled into my finger at work and needed to go to the ER. Patient drop off area was easy to access. ER triage put me through quickly, the staff were attentive, highly professional and patient. Needed to stay overnight for surgery. Bed 7 East 15:2 was comfy with a nice window view of city lights. The nurse on duty, Angela did a great job communicating to the patients and making everyone feel comfortable and looked after. The patient in the bed next to me was in a pretty bad way and seemed overwhelmed at first but became noticeably calmer and at ease with the caring attention from Angela, Ella the other nurses. Snacks were surprisingly tasty. I recommend the shortbread. Thank you to all of our wonderful public health professionals. We are truly lucky to have you.

The worst and most biased public place I have ever been to in Melbourne. They asked for my religious beliefs and then made me wait for 2 hours before taking my blood samples and then for 4 more hours before I could see a nurse. Upon asking I was told there are more serious patients who by the away arrived after me got treated and even left before I could even see a nurse. Doesn't even stop here. They took my covid test despite I have no symptoms at all. Then they isolated me. 2 different nurses tried their best to convince me that I have COVID eventhough i had my condition for last 13 days. They told me I had fever my temperature taken thrice was 37.2, tried to wrap me in a blanket when I was not cold and even didn't ask for it. Didnt even bother to pay attention to my real issue. I walked out after wasting my 7 hours. Doctor never had the time to see me after being 30 mins inside the department. Cherry on the top was their pathology lab's text saying I was covid negative. Worst experience for a sick person.Their only concern was to add a plus one in their CoVID list.

Nothing against the hospital. Tried to call the specialist clinic and there was a long wait time, which is understandable, but when the phone was picked up I was met with the rudest person ever who rushed through the phone call and spoke over me many times before hanging up abruptly. We missed our phone appointment with our doctor and the receptionist called us back saying the doctor wants us to reschedule the appointment. We say ok that’s fine, expecting the receptionist to help us book another appointment or at least transfer us to the department that handles bookings. They hang up on us again. I am on the phone to them now and have been waiting over 30 minutes to get through since I had to wait in the queue again. Horrible service and not kind to patients at all, making us feel stupid.

Many thanks to all staff, from front office, through theatre and the wards, for the outstanding care you gave my daughter during stay for emergency surgery. My endless interstate phone inquiries were always met with the perfect level of clinical efficiency, kindness and clarity. Thank you. Deb Felton

My brother was only at St Vincent's for a short time in the emergency department, but in that short time the attention and care that was shown by the nurses and doctors here was outstanding. A big thank you to all.
