The worst emergency department in Victoria. Do not waste your time. My girlfriend collapsed out the front suffering extreme nausea and chest pains. Absolutely no nurses or doctors helped, another patient waiting ended up bringing out a wheelchair to help me bring her in. Once I checked he in at the front desk not one nurse or doctor came up to ask I'd she was okay despite her being in obvious distress and pain. After 4 hours of waiting in an empty emergency room from 2am to 6am we left. Not one nurse or doctor came to see how she was, take any tests or show any type of care what so ever. Pathetic excuse for a hospital and all the reviews about the staffs lack of care are 100% accurate.

Been here for 6 hours, dreading to leave but won’t until me and my unborn child are checked.. Triage nurse had checked my blood pressure 4 hours later, have notified her of lower back pain and was told I’d get pain killers but 2 hours later still nothing, I’m still sitting here pains in my back and tummy pain beginning to hurt more. What do you do! Seeing people come in before me and getting checked before me, makes me think is my life not important.. If I had a choice I’d go to another hospital but Frankston Emergency is the closes to me.

Came here twice in January as I’ve been ill since Christmas and still ill now. First doctor I saw was very nice and helpful and the nurses in the waiting room were very kind and empathetic both visits. On the other hand the second time I came here in January the doctor I got and the nurses in the emergency didn’t want to listen to anything I had to say and just wanted to discharge me. Told me I was fine after an ultrasound and would not listen to me and left the room before I was finished speaking. Told me off for “double dosing” on my antibiotic and left before I could explain that I was in fact taking them as I was meant to and also would not listen to me when I told them I didn’t just pee before my ultrasound and had in fact gone to the bathroom in a lot of pain 5-6 times over the course of an hour or so. I am now seeing a urologist and thank god he actually listens to me, after an ultrasound at capital radiology I was told I have inflammation in my bladder, bladder infection and infected urine. I have now had a another ultrasound 6 months later as I am still in a lot of pain and have been told I have large kidney stones. The doctor and nurses in the emergency room were incredibly rude to me and missed all the obvious symptoms of kidney stones and wanted nothing to do with me. Very glad I now know what’s wrong and can finally get surgery with a urologist at a private hospital. Do not go here.

Very poor service and slow . I’ve being sitting for over 4 hours no doctor ever check me. I had nausea. After 4 hours I went and say I need help then the receptionist gave me a tablet for nausea. Why couldn’t she give as soon as I walked in. Terrible experience. . I returned home .

Went at 2:30am on Monday morning, for a x-ray on my shoulder as I had dislocated it on Saturday and wasn't feeling right (was told to go by nurse on call) I was seen straight away and all staff were very friendly. Got the x-ray by 3:40am or so and was allowed to even look at them (they didn't give an opinion just let me look) and I was out in a room at about 9am and the radiologist gave a review by 10:30 am. Was I there a long time, yes. Was everything clean, friendly and seemed like they were trying to get me seen. Total time 8 hours Time to see 1 hour Time to room 7 hours All things considered I was not an urgent patient and I'm pretty happy with service, I would have liked a little more investigation into why I'm still in pain but its nothing my GP can't help with

I am appalled at the service I received at the Frankston emergency department. I went in at 2:30pm with severe stomach pains. I couldn’t walk or talk, my partner had to help me in and do most of the talking. I have chronic back pain from a broken back that I live with every day, so when I say it was severe pain, I mean it was SEVERE! I was in a ball crying. I was given pain killers, then told to wait in the waiting room. I waited 2 hours before a nurse saw me. She then put a cannula in, and I instantly knew it was done wrong. I said to her “it hurts a lot” she said “they’re uncomfortable, that’s to be expected” I said “no, it really hurts I’ve had them before but this one is sore” she did nothing. I then waited another 2 hours until a doctor came and saw me. He didn’t look at me once whilst talking, only talked to my partner. I asked him twice to please look at me when talking about my issues, he ignored me. He then took us into a room, where he examined the painful area. He started to raise his voice at me, and I got upset, as I was in pain, and he wasn’t listening. He was pressing incredibly hard on my back and asked “does this hurt?” I said “yes because…” he interrupted, “how about this side?!” My partner said “she broke her back, you need to be careful!” Mind you, we had told triage and the nurse about this. It would have been on my chart. He continued to talk to my partner, I asked again to look at me when speaking. He ignored me. I then got upset and said firmly please look at me, this is my body, my issues, and my decisions. He didn’t listen until my partner said can you please look at her and speak to her. He then said that there was no option for an ultrasound as it was to late in the evening, but we could do a CT however he didn’t want to due to the high volume of radiation I would be getting. By this point, after being there for 4 and a half hours with no treatment but pain killers, I had had enough and just wanted to go home. We then waited another 40 minutes for him to give me a referral for Monday for an ultrasound and a script of pain killers. This doctor gave me a script for 6! Pain killers. Tell me how that Is acceptable when I had had 3 whilst in hospital over 5 hours. How on earth were 6 suppose to get me through 48 hours when I was in excruciating pain. I will never ever be going back to Frankston Hospital. Their lack of care is disgusting. I have bad bruising 2 days later on my arm from the nurse who did my cannula, and it is still getting worse by the hour.

Avoid going to this hospital's emergency. Hospital staff have no sense of urgency or concern. Waited from 10pm to 3am bleeding, before they took me in to have a look. And even then, basically shrugged and waited for a doctor to arrive at 7am. Worst staff. I wish this happens to one of their families, see how they take it. Maybe, and just maybe, they would understand.

I went there by ambulance and only had to wait in the corridor 30 minutes before getting blood tests, an iv and seeing a doctor. I was in ct machine after 3 hours but, there were alot of bad traffic traumas coming in, and strokes. I was in a room 1 hour after being there. And the ambulance staff and doctors and nurses were all really lovely and kind and caring. The emergency department definitely needs more room. the doctors were run off their feet seeing so many patients at once. I feel so bad for them.

Waited in emergency for 4 hours , with 6 others , not one doctor in site. At least let us know what's going on. Frankston Emergency needs a major overhaul, it worked better 20 years ago. I was forgotten about 10 hours in emergency they wanted to admit me. When I was finally admitted I asked to go home. Goodbye frankston hospital, hoping never to return.

Wouldn't even rate this 1 star to be honest. Worst hospital I have ever experienced in my life and I have been here several times unfortunately. The waiting times for serious incidents are absolutely ridiculous 4+ hours on a non busy day. Front nurse staff show no empathy or care at all and are rude. Staff are useless here don't bother coming to this hospital I have been misdiagnosed several times, if you care about your health go peninsula private they are excellent or go to Monash hospital if you can't afford. Don't waste your time.

This emergency department is over run with patients and not enough staff. Now patients can bring someone in with them as this is no longer policed. Everyone sits on top of each other no space between people a covid outbreak waiting to happen right there. More seating needs to be brought in and more space between patients. Patients who get sent home early still sick should not have to represent to emergency for help and wait all day. Instead like the ward says they will take you back but to busy to pick up phones. So a week later l am not recovered or any better than how l was sent home What is our hospital system becoming not a great place to be

Waiting in emergency for 12 hrs! While I was waiting, parents with babies and children were waiting for prolonged times with them crying. I was shocked to see this elder lady who was in her late 90s sitting in the same seat waiting for the same amount of time as I had. No staff had checked in on her or asked if she needed help going to the toilet. She was falling asleep on her walking stick. No one assisted her and I noticed she looked cold, so I gave her my blanket to keep her warm and made sure she was okay even though I was in a rough state myself. I asked the desk if they can prioritise this elder lady as she could barely speak and she wasn't attended to until 1.5 hours later. I know the staff numbers were restricted and under pressure as well as beds were all taken up but to not have vulnerable people looked after is disturbing.

My wife was Waiting more than 12 hrs to be seen for an hour and a half, then send home with painkillers. Doctor told her to come back if no improvement. So yesterday she went back, after waiting 7 hrs she asked how long she had to wait and was told at least 5 hrs. So all I can say is if you're in a hurry to be helped DON'T go to this hospital.

Absolutely disgraceful! Took over 2hrs for my son to be seen by the initial doctor in emergency. Still waiting on results from the doctor for his xray. When asked nurses how much longer is the wait, they replied "there's so many emergencies coming in so we can't say" mind you I have been sitting with my son in emergency for nearly 6hrs and counting. Such a disappointment.

Avoid this hospital like the plague, absolutely disgusting care.. my partner went there via ambulance due to chest pain and lung disease. Once arriving the Ambulance expressed that I would have to wait in the waiting room, at first I was understanding even though I was crying in so much pain, I sat in the waiting room for 4 hours in this time no one had seen me, no blood work no check in absolutely nothing. I ended up going home.. This hospital is the worst place I have ever been.. There care factors are zero.. To anyone who needs to go to hospital go to another one.. I have a letter from my GP to attend the hospital for medical intervention I will be driving to the Monash for the help I need

While on the way to visit Mornington this morning, we needed to make an unplanned stop at an emergency at a hospital for our 8 month old. We could not speak higher of the staff who looked after us, from the receptionist, to the triage nurse, nurses, and doctors who saw us, while treating our baby girl in record time, and with respect and kindness (Half an hour in total, which is a record for us) To name a few names we recall, thank you to Madeline, Sony, Chloe, Dr Hina & Dr Mohan for giving us a memorable experience.

I just want to thank all the staff who looked after me, came in after a fall. My shoulder was dislocated and broken. My nose is broken and I look a mess. I found the waiting time reasonable as I understand I was not the only person needing help. They were kind, helpful and supportive. I have read reviews of others judging others from a far oh they didn’t do this or that for someone, but unless you are that person or was with them we have no place to question. You are not seen in order you arrive, it’s to do who needs the treatment before another.

Ignore all the bad reviews…. These keyboard warriors clearly have no idea how hard each and every member of staff are working!! Yes you may have to wait a while, but everyone working here is doing everything they can. Cannot commend the receptionists, nurses and doctors for their kindness, professionalism and compassion to me not once but twice that I have ended up here. Keep up the good work, there are many of us who appreciate you insurmountably!

To all people who come into Emergency. I know it is scary to come in with a child at night because you can't get into your local doctor's; or to come in with really bad pain or nausea; or after having an accident of some kind BUT believe me the staff and doctors are doing their very best to triage the number of people needing attention. They are trying to decide who to treat first. Sometimes they may make get it wrong because they are under extreme pressure due to lack of staff, sick staff who suddenly can't show up for their shift or whatever BUT THIS IS NOT THEIR FAULT. The biggest problems are lack of beds, broken machinery that they can't get fixed in a timely manner and understaffing. These problems can only be fixed by the government of the day, whoever that may be. My personal experience here is as a cancer patient and l can promise you that every doctor, nurse, cleaner, office staff member l deal with are very kind and caring. I will agree that many of the processes and procedures these people have to work under do need a major overhaul. There is a lot of inefficiency and waste evident but the staff themselves are wonderful!!

Must be severely understaffed or underfunded (likely both), been waiting over 6 hours and haven’t seen a doctor. Arriving in the very early AM on a Thursday, with a half-empty waiting room, really don’t know what’s going on. Just awful.

Came in after our GP sent us straight to hospital after my husbands appointment. His pneumonia hadn't improved and he fainted at home. Receptionist was polite and efficient, triage thorough with questions and a nurse taking my husbands vitals while I gave details at the triage counter. Some young lad threatening to attack staff in the corner while his mother just sat there! Don't know how staff deal with this behaviour on a daily basis. My hubby was taken in quickly ( 20 mins) to a cubicle, then resus and finally ICU. Was told he might not make it but due to all the outstanding care he will be out of ICU tomorrow hopefully. Long way to go yet but at least my hubby is alive to do so. We have attended the ED before and waited 11 hrs, but that is the nature of ED. Someone dying takes precedent over a twisted ankle, if you can't deal with it then Train to become a nurse, doctor or politician to help improve the system. Don't leave a negative review as the staff are working to the best of their abilities under stressful conditions. Ask yourself "could you do the job?". I know I couldn't. My family appreciate everyone at Frankston, from the cleaners to the ICU Consultants and everyone in between. THANK YOU 😊

The new way the emergency room operates is fantastic and super productive. A lot of the preliminary information needed such as blood pressure, blood work, urine samples is done while you’re in the seated waiting area. So you now no longer need to wait hours, then finally get through to a bed only to just start those processes and the wait again for hours. The blood work came back super quick while I was in the waiting room and I was seen by a Dr there pretty quickly, then moved into a bed. From arrival to a bed was about 2 and a half hours - with all preliminary testing and convo with Dr during that time, I only spent about 15 minutes of actual ‘waiting’. They had an cannula in me straight away and IV antibiotics sighing 30 mins of being in the bed. Ultrasound scan took a while though, wasn’t until another 4 hours and a push from the regular Dr and emergency Dr, and a CT scan took another day which could’ve helped identify the issue sooner meaning earlier surgery. Other than that the experience was so much better than I expected, the nurses were amazing in all sections and all Drs really thoughtful and friendly. Really great improvements to Peninsula Health (Frankston Hospital) emergency department. Well done team, very impressed!

Like all places it has good and bad staff. But the amount of people that are returning in pain or unwell that were sent home earlier the same day is bewildering. The wait times can be a while and you keep hearing people say it as they check in. I don’t know why this is, but it seems like it makes things a lot worse as people clog up the inbound process again. As the peninsula grows we need a better resource or managed ( I don’t know which ) hospital.

When you get seen to, ok. To get there is a freaking nightmare. Also urine and urine samples take longer than 6 hours to get any results. I concur with the horrible wait times, low staff numbers and general chaotic service. Saw a kid with a gash on his forehead that needed at least 15 stitches, he arrived at 6pm. I went into emergency and left at 6am the next day, guess who was still waiting with blood on their face?

Arrived with nose pouring blood due to a fall legend I landed on my nose. 76yo female. Registered but not given an armband. Advised the person both on registration and triage that I was taking blood thinners. Given tissues to control bleeding. Triage did not really do anything, but told me to continue with tissues and that I would be having a blood test. That did not happen. I was in shock and shivering. Many hours later I had a CT scan. When I finally saw a doctor many hours later I had my blood pressure taken for the first time. He said that the CT was clear. I asked whether my nose was broken and received no answer. He did not appear to understand English very well. At no time was my nose examined. I was then sent out to the waiting room again. My blood pressure was taken again because it was not recorded on the system by the doctor. The person who took my blood pressure wanted to give me a COVID swab, but I refused as I did not want to risk my nose starting to bleed again. I was then discharged. I was very wobbly on my feet, and dizzy. Nobody even cleaned the grazes on my nose from where I landed when U fell, and I still had no answer as to whether my nose was broken. On Saturday I went to Casey Hospital ED, where blood tests were done as well as an ECG. I was admitted to a bed. The consultant checked my nose, and told me that because the CT scan was clear it meant that my nose was not broken. I was given the option of staying overnight but because I did not feel it was necessary and the bed could be used for somebody else in more need, I said I would go home. I was also advised to get my GP to follow up.

I had a very disappointing experience at Frankston Hospital tonight. I noticed a spillage of coffee on the floor and alerted the nurse at the desk. However, she failed to address the issue, which was a safety hazard for all patients. What was even more concerning was the treatment of the elderly man who was dropped off by an ambulance at 8pm in pain and was left unattended until on an uncomfortable chair for hours. No one checked on him for hours, leaving him in distress and uncomfortable. Furthermore, my husband was in unbearable pain. We arrived at 6.30pm but left there for hours after asking numerous times at nurses station only to be treated like we were a bother. The lack of care and professionalism from the staff was appalling, I would not recommend Frankston hospital to anyone in need of urgent attention. anyone in thisanyone in need of urgent medical attention.
