I currently compete in a Men’s Division on a week night. I’ve played in this association for approximately 5 seasons and it has gotten worse and worse. We were placed in a division with a refs team (which is fine) and were advised that because the association has insufficient ref numbers that the ref team would play their games 6:30pm at Nunawading. The rest of the league are forced to play at surrounding suburb stadiums (either 8:30/09:30pm) which are sub par at best until a sufficient amount of refs can be organised, meaning the rest of the league only play at Nunawading once every 5 weeks. It’s since been 17 weeks within the season and nothing has changed or been communicated, the ref team still solely plays at Nunawading at 6:30pm! My frustration boiled over completely when the association was advised by multiple teams throughout the leagues that the basketballs being used are of low quality. They took on this feedback by asking teams to pay $8 extra in fees in order to purchase more basketballs. Although $8 is not much I’m dumbfounded how incompetent/oblivious this association has become and start to wonder where our registration fees go, because it doesn’t go to improving ref numbers or new basketballs. Before this season we were advised Team turnover was a concern coming into this season and can tell you that won’t change any time soon and that they can add one more team to that turnover list too.

Sent my son to the holiday camp, picked him up 1 hour earlier due to diff appointment. Noticed super loud environment. Coach was talking through a microphone. It was soooo loud, even for my ears. Around 100kids were sitting on big stairs and only 2 were playing. Looked like a competition to me. My son attended soccer camp and tennis but basketball was our least favorite one. Loud, crowded and it felt more like quantity over quality to me. My son wasn't impressed either after I asked him how it went. Wont attend again

I’ve been playing at this stadium for over 10 years and each season I ask myself why do we bother. The quality of refs and admin staff is beyond a joke. I don’t think they understand they are at a workplace, so unprofessional. If your looking for somewhere to rock up & play a good game of ball this is not the place, go to ringwood or Knox. Also, to the management team, replying to an email or query once in a decade would be nice. P.S the womens toilets are rank , we’re living in a Covid world now, cleaning them up should be on the top of your too do list daily.

Since the pandemic, the standard of reffing has dropped significantly. Instead of acknowledging this the “supervisor” sits by the court and does absolutely nothing, making your team feel like you are the problem. We had one of our players foul out last week before the entire other team even had one foul. The attitude here feels agist. The coordinator, Andrew Cavlock, doesn’t want a bar of you when you email to ask a question or make a suggestion. He replies pretty much suggesting you play elsewhere, which I would recommend you do as it’d be better than here. I’ve played for 24 of my 30 years here, and I’m done. It’s no fun anymore. Well done, Nuna.

A good basketball sports stadium, several courts, bench seating, amenties and a good canteen. Plenty of parking and easy access off Burwood Hwy.

Looking to play senior domestic competition here? Don’t even bother. As other comments mentioned, referees are a joke. Inexperienced kids having no idea how to ref, you’re basically paying to train them. Have something to complain about? Don’t bother too, all the response you’ll get from management is go play elsewhere.

If you're looking to register a team here, don't! Everything about this place is a complete disappointment. The facilities in summer are a joke, we pay pretty high fees and they installed aircon, however in my 12+ years playing - NEVER once has it been turned on (apparently has to be over 38 degrees outside to turn in on, which is never the case by 630pm at night, however the hot tin shed, which has been heating up all day and is about 40+ degrees inside... still doesn't mean they'll part with the small cost to keep their paying 'customers' happy. You'd be cooler and better off running around in a sauna for 40 mins. The refs seem like people who are genuinely unhappy in their lives, theyre unwilling to listen, they are on the defensive if you ask a single question and its rare (pretty much impossible) to find a good one who can ref a fair game with good calls. Oh, and god forbid you email them, prepare to wait forever for a reply... dont bother stepping foot inside this place for any reason

My team currently plays for the senior domestic basketball division on Sundays. Half way through the season and after fixtures have been made we received an email stating new teams have entered and fixtures have been changed and to check again to see adjusted times. After receiving this email my team and I checked the fixtures on the day and the next day and our next game time had not been changed. But because Andrew Cavlock a new and inexperienced manager had not updated the fixtures as he stated in his email forced us to miss our next game and won’t listen to reason, my team living fairly far from the stadium all showed up for our game but got told we had to forfeit as it was 45 minutes earlier. We got told the association will sort it out and we won’t have to pay. After back and forth emails all Andrew could do was quote the by-laws instead of apologising for his incompetence. In 6 seasons we have never forfeited nor missed a game and we have always paid for our games. Only since Andrew Cavlock had taken over management of the senior basketball division have we been treated like this and forced to pay double for a game that we did not play. We love the sport and we will keep playing but I am really disappointed with the association.

Great place to have a shoot, can't wait for the big renovation, adding more courts, and have had great refs and games there

With a child who plays basketball all across Melbourne, and so having been to many, many stadiums, this has to be one of the worst stadiums by modern standards. Whilst the courts themselves are in reasonable condition, the seating for spectators is almost non-existent, and is so close to the court markings that you could high-five a player running past (or trip the coach over as they pace up and down the sidelines). Incredibly loud (yes I know, it's a basketball stadium, not a library), scorers bench has no room for more than two people (in rep, there must be four). It feels like a 1970s school gym. Lift your game.

My 2 children went to multiple basketball camps at this stadium and they came back very happy kids. Management has been very helpful in organization and the coaches has been extraordinary. They made sure all children are looked after and they learned a great deal. Thank you so much!! What a wonderful experience.

Had an exchange with some SEDA students. I was doing casual shooting but The students were swearing loudly near my kid. I went up to the SEDA kids to tell them to please stop and go onto another court but they proceeded and continued to yell and Curse Purposely absolutely disgusting

For future reference and advice for the stadium, put your referees through some proper training before letting them do a game. These 14 year olds that want to backchat and give bad calls are no good. On the good side the courts are decent

Have been playing here since under 12s- that's over 15 years, and in the past couple of years the standard of reffing has dropped dramatically. We have walked off with scratches and bruises from the other team with not a single call made against them. There are a handful of good refs here but unfortunately they are the minority. Something needs to be done because nobody is enjoying the games anymore.
