My beef is with the excessive surcharges, which just makes the pricing out of whack. I enjoyed the food and vibe. It's a 10% surcharge on the weekend, and they have a standing card surcharge, despite not providing an alternative non-surcharged payment option - which is cheeky. I think you should put more thought into pricing and increase your menu item prices appropriately, and maybe reduce others. My double espresso was like $7 lol. I get one every day in Brunswick East at an award winning roaster, pay with an Amex and it's still $4.60. Your menu prices become irrelevant when you have all these surcharges.

If you are here for the milk based coffee, I have to admit it is a bit of pricey, almost the most expensive coffee in Melbourne. But if you are here to buy their beans, it is a perfect place. The prices of the coffee beans are average among the specialty coffee roasters. And they do have some really good beans, definitely worth the price. I have purchased a few filter beans from here, so far so good. Very tasty coffee. One of my favorite roasters. The pic is their special release, very tasty. If you like fruity, sweet and sour coffee, this is it.

Chill vibes, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. This place is also dog friendly so it's a great place to bring your furry friend to have brunch with you at a place that has its own coffee menu for the coffee fanatics. We waited around 15 for a table outside and staff were very accommodating in suggesting we move the table onto the deck for a bit of shade which was a Lovely gesture. We went with the special ham hock Benedict and corn fritters with a side of fried chicken which was absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy as and really went well with the smashed pea, hummius and corn fritters. The ham hock Benedict was also a gorgeous palette. A variety of pastries and coffee beans were available inside for those who want something more. Would visit again and recommend checking this chill as coffee shop out.

A bit cold inside but nice vibes overall! They even have a filter pour over decaf which is nice to See and good for when you’re over caffeinated! Can highly recommend the maple blend they do on oat milk! Lots of vegan options including an XO mushroom dish and options to sub eggs for scramble tofu! Cute tote bags with espresso word on them! A couple of cute homewares including rhino milk jugs in various sizes! Friendly baristas! Justin even gave good recommendations of cafes to check out while visiting the area! Ming is also a lovely staff member who recommended 279, Path and Small Batch in Melbourne!

Super modern, spacious with high ceilings. Loved the decor and open kitchen. Great ambiance. Came only for coffee this time but will definitely be back for food too. The range of beans on offer for both espresso and black were impressive. The staff and service was excellent.

I will mainly focus on coffee as that is what I went in for with a very high expectations! Be open minded to coffee and the wide spectrum of flavours and aromas to experience besides the typical, chocolate, caramel & the "traditional" espresso flavour profile. You can get that but ONA is much more than that. Whether it is milk based, black or filter. You will be very pleased regardless. If you are intrigued by coffee and recently have been wanting to try other brewing methods of coffee, ONA is one of the places to check out. The prices can vary depending on what you'd like to try. Now, for food I was very happy whether it is lunch, breakfast or dessert. But that is also because I am very easily pleased when it comes to food. All in all, I would recommend! Thank you.

So glad to find Ona in Melbs! They're really busy on weekends but weekdays are perfect to slowly savour your coffee. Extensive list of coffees with detailed tasting notes on the reserve menu for true coffee aficionados. So many types that it's hard to decide!

A beautiful gem of a cafe on a back street in Brunswick. Got the chicken burger for lunch and the burger was juicy and delicious. The coffee was strong and well made. Interiors are very stylish and the other meals look very delicious so wanna come back again.

What a surprise finding this gem in Oven Street! The entrance feels like a coastal eatery. Once walking up the decking stairs covered with native grasses you enter a sprawling, airy and light-filled warehouse and are greeted by a waiter to take you to your seat. Service was cheery and friendly, we were temporarily seating in a waiting area whilst the staff cleared a table. We ordered coffees and breakfast. We agreed to the upsell coffees, one with a vanilla- cherry roast, the other a maple roast. In a cappuccino it was not much a difference for my palate. The food was well cooked and presented. I had Turkish eggs with a side of greens, my partner had an egg and bacon burger. Good sizes, and balanced flavours and condiments. Perfect umami and seasoning. I would recommend this for all kinds of breakfasts and lunches - with friends, as a couple, to bring tourists or family, kids will feel comfortable. Toilets are clean and well tended. I would definitely recommend and will be back!

CASUAL CHILLED OUT BRUNCH SPOT Great spot in Brunswick for coffee and brunch. Interesting menu with some Asian influence. I ordered the white coffee in Raspberry Candy, one of the signature blends from ONA. SO GOOD. Food was amazing too, I got the Bibi-bowl (like a Buddha bowl but with Korean ingredients) with fried egg and fried chicken. The fried chicken so yummy and I love the Asian spiced batter. I also enjoyed the interior by Breathe Architecture Will be back for more food and coffee

Great little coffee shop tucked away in Brunswick. The coffee is so good! I had the iced long black with maple beans. We also got the cheese toastie & chia pudding (the chia was pretty average).

I paid $15.92 for an oat magic and iced decaffeinated almond latte. Pretty ridiculous prices. Both our coffees were decent, but definitely not coming back due to these ridiculously expensive prices for a “decent” coffee. Fix your prices. Cheers.

Staffs are always friendly. Not much table service because they dont directly take our order. Ice coffee is delicious to me but hubby wasn’t happy with his flat white. The food is decent, just a simple good brunch and carefree vibe. I like their banana bread though, simple and super delicious

Didn’t get a chance to go to Ima because there were too many people, but thankfully we bookmarked Ona and it was a wonderful choice! The hits are the prawn brioche , beef benedict and the cured fish, not so great is the Ube French toast- not a huge fan of the texture of the toast and the weird Sandy meringue bits and the ube flavours were too prominent. What I wasn’t super happy about is the table we were given. The seat looks stained and no one bothered cleaning it, which is really disgusting

This is a great place, the coffee is amazing and the variety of coffee available is quite unique. the service has been outstanding every single time i have been there. The food is usually very good, out of the 5 or 6 times I have eaten there only once I was disappointed. It was the most recent one, the granola. Otherwise I loved their porridge and the eggs and other things they had on their menu. Also they regularly update their menu so it is not because I was displeased once that I won’t give it another go. The outside area is really nice to sit and have a coffee, always can grab some bread from the bakery across the road on the way home !

We loved our experience here - best coffee we've had in a long time, incredible food and amazing service. When we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, we were even treated to having the song from our first dance on the playlist. Thank you to Glenn and all the wonderful staff there, we'll definitely be back!

Good vibes, nice coffee! I'd recommend Black Betty hot coffee if you like coffee that taste like chocolates. Hotcakes with extra bacon also good combination. Staff were friendly but maybe they're too busy cause they forgot my waiting queue and one of my order.

Order the Chilli Egg. It's the best scrambled eggs I've ever had!! Jam packed with flavour and just melts in your mouth. They use some pretty dope beans too. Long black went down so well.

Came to ONA coffee this Saturday for brunch. Was impressed by their coffee menu which is clearly their speciality area. Unique blends and concoctions, many of which are presented in a wine list style hardback book. Coffee prices are on the high end with a regular blend oat setting you back about $6-$6.50. The wine/coffee list options upon glance were about $12. I wasn't feeling bougie enough for that. Had a maple iced oat which was flavourful. Partner got a gateway oat which he felt tasted quite average. The food menu had some great sounding options. We opted for the corn fritters and the green chilli scrambled eggs. Overall on a baseline the dishes were good however tended to be on the dry side and were hungry for a bit of sauce or moisture filled veg to balance it out. The fritters did have some smashed peas and hummus on the side however both of these dips err on dry rather than moist. Both dishes were topped with a concoction of herbs and leaves. Nice upon the first few bites but was a little overkill particularly with what seemed to be chamomile flowers which really disturbed the taste buds after a few mouthfuls. Staff were extremely lovely and decor was good. Nice for a couple of special coffees and perhaps a try of that chicken burger and French toast next time. Edit - came back for a second round and loved the Turkish chilli eggs and a sneaky bowl of chips for brekky. Chilli eggs were perfectly balanced with house made flatbread that was divine. Chippies were so fresh and scrumptious - must try! Coffee minimum price is $5.50 (regular or skinny milk). Thanks ONA for an awesome breakfast 👌

In my opinion, this cafe is one of the best coffee shop in Melbourne. We can choose the bean among a couple of kind of beans, I chose the one the staff recommended. Its fruity coffee smells and tastes so amazing!

My favourite coffee of all time, I always go for a flat white but I wish there is a consistency in the amount of coffee in it. Sometimes it’s perfect and other time it’s milky

  • 5/5 Faisal A. 3 years ago on Google
Great and excellent coffee. The place has plenty of seats. The options of coffee that available is great. You won’t stock to one or two types of beans which is excellent and quite rear to find in other coffee shops. Especially a well-known roster like ONA you wish to try few beans before you buy any of them from the shelf. Also, as they are an incredible coffee roster doesn’t mean they don’t have great options of foods and sweets, which they do and you can enjoy your excellent coffee with good choices of food as well.
