Upon entering the gym (of which I've been a member for almost 7 years) very few of the members are wearing a mask. But I'm told I have to wear a mask while I'm doing a cardio workout. Seems like they pick and choose who should wear a mask. The staff are very unprofessional, repeatedly remind you to pull your mask up over your nose even if you pull it down for a minute to breath. They are asking for a lawsuit if someone passes out on a cardio machine for being forced to wear a mask. I canceled my membership and I'll be calling their corporate office monday.

People using the "do not use social distancing equipment" and the workers do not care. Told me I couldn't bring my bar bell pad out on the floor but they dont provide one. They dont have sanitize stations you carry your own bottle and I saw some people not sanitizing. Do not recommend worst pf ive been to, not profesional. On a good note good equipment and very big space.

Great place to work out but the time schedule on the weekends SUCKS not open earlier and close to earlier, and taking money out of your account regardless if you was available for the use of the place.

I was a member at another big gym in Melrose Park and their showers were always gross. I am very impressed with how clean the showers are in PF. The staff is always very nice, the gym is always clean, they provide each member with a bottle to disinfect the machines b4 and after use!! Looove that! All the positive quotes around the gym. Everyone complaining about this gym, go to the other big one in Melrose Park and see how quick u come back to this location!

I really like Planet Fitness in general. My go to place to work out, judgement free. I felt very confident going on different machines despite not feeling like a gym “person” if that makes sense. This location in general was good. I prefer early morning as crowd is low. Weekends the crowd changed a bit and didn’t love that vibe. Generally very clean location and visibly see staff deep cleaning machines but people often left the brown paper (used to wipe down machines after use) at the machines. Like in the cup holders on treadmills. Which I didn’t like. But there are so many machines so I just chose a different one when that happened. I met with a trainer for 30 minutes one day and got a personal plan. that made me feel more confident knowing which machines to use. Overall I like the staff and machine variety.

Place is recently renovated. People are super nice. Clean and has great equipment. Best gym in the area that is affordable. Beats charter by a million

The staff routinely cleans the equipment, floors, materials, and restrooms. The staff are very friendly and greet you, and are totally cool with you asking them any questions and for help. Pricing is great.

Love this gym. I was not expecting of how nice and complete exercise equipments they have. I thought to start here before i go to more expensive monthly fee gym, but after 3 months of exercising here, i think I'll stay longer. Many if not all, sanitize the equipments after use. And i feel so comfortable of the vibes of the members, they are seem friendlier and kinder feel than the gym members i used to go too.

When you go in a/c on very chilled to work out both of fans all speed.i veen told that both fans need to be on it was policy so iveen coming sometimes they got one on the other on dosent make sense.

Personally its a good Gym, no one gives you grief about anything regarding on your performance, however there is one problem that is unsettling for me. Its the employees that gave me some doubt on this location. How come PF's slogan is "judgement free" yet you ask them a question they would snicker behind you back? This needs to change please.

I love coming here because I can just be myself and be comfortable. The staff is very welcoming! I recommend this place 100% it's a very positive environment! 💪💗🤗

This review is from a guy that’s been coming here for 9 months now, so I know what I’m taking about. If you are wanting to use the treadmills then they have plenty, but if you are trying to bodybuild good luck, the only times they aren’t crowded is in the early morning (before 11am) or late night (after 10pm) try to work out there at any other timeframe and it’ll be overcrowded. The bench press/deadlift machine is never free and the workout beds are also never free. Meaning this is a wait to workout gym. (Perhaps since this is my first gym my expectations aren’t in line but I assume that waiting for extended timeframes isn’t the norm.) This location has too few machines and too many people fighting for them. Not only that the people will constantly be dumbbell hogs with one person taking 3-4 sets of dumbbells for themselves or hiding them somewhere. The bathrooms are well maintained though, and I doubt there are any thieves you need to worry about. The crowd is mostly Hispanic with a few black and white people, but most of them are kind, the staff aren’t knowledgeable but are nice and do a decent enough job keeping the place tidy. Weekend crowds are SLIGHTLY lighter but still heavy. When I say the gym is overcrowded I’m not referring to the place being packed like crazy (unless it’s at 6-7pm which is peak hours) rather I’m talking about all the body building machines and any equipment needed to build muscle is ALWAYS taken and you’ll have to wait to do anything from 5-25mins, if you have a series of 5-10 different workouts to do you’ll be there about an hour longer than if it wasn’t crowded. This gym is for people who are patient, like to workout mornings or late nights, or who only do cardio. For anyone else I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU COMING HERE! Also the crowd meter in the app is not helpful, anything above one notch means a wait ESPECIALLY for the bench press/deadlift machine, which is always taken! Keep in mind that this is a beginner gym, it simply isn’t equipped with the needed heavy weights for powerlifting or advanced body builders. The stronger you become the less useful this gym is for you. You will see 97% of people with average to decent physiques and 3% with impressive physiques. The variety of equipment is decent but not great. Lastly, half of the entire gym is taken up by cardio machines, there’s too many cardio machines and not enough bodybuilding machines. There’s been atleast 3 occasions where the crowd was so heavily crowded that I just left out the gym without even working out. The nickname for this gym is planet wait-ness, because you’ll wait about 25-50% of your time here during crowded times. DONT BOTHER COMING WHEN ITS CROWDED.

Will pull the bait and switch. When I enrolled last August, I explained I would be moving in less than a year and wouldn't sign up if it was a contact. I was assured I would not be under contract. Flash forward 5 months later, I was assessed a $58 buyout fee for canceling. When I asked an employee about it over the phone, she said the promotions between contracts and no contracts change so much, she wasn't even aware when each promotion was active. Between that, and the number of people that don't wear masks or even wipe down their machines after use, signing up here is not recommended. Update, response to the owner: what questions would I have? I explained the situation in my review. If you wanted to make it right, you would contact me. Stop with the cookie cutter response you give to everyone.

I'm very surprised this location only got a 3.8 rating, tough crowd. I travel for work and go to Plant Fitnesses all over the country so for this area and Chicago (I'm originally from here), this location so far is the best I've been too. For various reasons; such as, the first time I came here I forgot my gym lock and the employee was nice enough to hold my bag behind the counter for me so I wouldn't have to run back and forth out to my car in the cold. Also, the layout here is open and well laid out. I like how the equipment isn't cramped together. Plus the equipment is nicer than other locations, now don't get me wrong I realize each PF is privately owned. It's very clean here, all the employees were cleaning during my entire hour and a half workout. They're very polite and courteous as I've mentioned earlier with my bag. And the best part for me personally is the lifetime fitness Stnrgy 360 multiple workout cage (training zone) There's kettle bells and ropes perfect for those wanting a little extra in their workout and CrossFit individuals. I know this location is far from the inner city but it's so worth the drive. I honestly couldn't ask for anything more from a PF location. If you haven't been this is definitely a location to check out! Keep up the good work guys!! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town!

It's always crowded at the Melrose Park Planet Fitness. I don't think they have enough machines for the crowd they get. It's hard to get on the Smith machine. There's always a long wait. The gym etiquette is bad here. People use their phones while they operate a machine. Or they pause a long time between sets. Usually I walk out and never get a chance to use the Smith machine.

The club has updated machines, Is large and therefore you have access to the machines and free weights you need. It is clean and bright inside.

When are you guys opening back up?

I perfect PF over any other gym. The cost is more reasonable in my opinion and I like how you can bring a guest.

Great gym to get a good workout at. Their motto of "Judgement Free Zone" is true. Everyone does their own thing in whatever they want to wear and at their own pace. You will feel very comfortable here. Safety protocols are in place.👍👍

I wish I could shoutout specific employees, but I do not know them by name. Instead, I know them as the smiling faces that welcome me and my dad to the gym everyday! We have gone to several locations Forest Park, Schaumburg, and Hickey Hills to name a few, but the Melrose Park location has them beat! All the employees are super friendly! Each facility is very clean! However, there is not a day when I don't see an employee cleaning at the Melrose Park location! The MP location is definitely our favorite! (Not to mention that prior to joining Planet Fitness, I was a member of XPort, also in MP, and there was no sense of comradery.)

Cleanest gym in the area! Still fairly new but the equipment is always clean and the staff is very friendly; Plenty of sanitizing stations to go around. Clean locker rooms and bathrooms as well. Starts to get busy after 3pm.

Staff was super helpful in getting my phone app set up so I don't need the badge anymore. Facility is very clean and well kept, good equipment availability. Other patrons are nice as well.

My son and I are regular there and always have a good experience. There is plenty of variety of machines and they are always in good working order. Also, the staff is very friendly and do a great job of keeping it clean. So I feel safe there working out.

Cancelation process is horrible. When you move you still have to come to your home club to cancel the membership. I don’t recommend planet fitness. It’s the worst gym ever.

The coaches were really awesome and the community was so inviting! Loved being able to drop-in while in town. Would definitely recommend!

I've been utilizing this facility for about half a year now and I have to say it's my favorite PF location in Chicagoland. I usually work out early in the AM when there's less people and the gym is often clean 1st thing in the morning. Staff has always been welcoming, curious, and professional.

Great place for a 10 20 30 or whatever time you want put in. I like how the club is handling the pandemic. Was just there for the first time since March. Felt safe. Of course there will always be one or two not following rules but you can't blame the gym. Place is kept clean and sanitized each person gets their own sanitizing spray bottle and of course staff is always courteous and helpful.
