A 13th century Scheldt-Gothic church. Architectural style Scheldt-Gothic actually originated from the Scheldt river and shows specific features such as a long tower and the use of blue-green stone blocks collected from the river. It’s been demolished and renovated over the years. The church is known to be one of the most common spots for merchants and marketers in the history. Completely free to visit and I would definitely recommend.

Saint Nicholas Church is yet another beautiful work of art in Ghent. The entry is free and the church is open until 4pm. Please note that the tower is not above the entrance, it is said that the tower used to serve as some sort of a natural lantern when light shines through the tower.

This is not a review of the church, it is a review of the "Inside Dali" experience. Please, do not waste your hard earned euros (€12.5). The whole experience consists of: - A wall of narrative as you enter - Giant slideshow within the church ruined by light leaks - A mirror room

Bonus points: very quiet, had some beautiful glass windows, the ceiling and the opportunity to buy and light candles (big and small ones) But my experience was bad when a very aggressive lady from the church came to me when I was lighting candles. I didn't saw the sign of how you light a candle (it pretty simple right?). But you have to use an other candle. Okay my bad and sorry, but the way of pointing and speaking loudly in a church was awful and disrespectful. Certain to other people who were praying at the moment. Lady of the church: I pray that your frustrations will be gone, good?

Stunning cathedral, one of the main attractions of Ghent. Both exterior and interior is so stunning, was really surprised that Ghent would have such a cathedral, the alter is a true work of art. There are some renovations taking place currently, so parts of the cathedral are closed but can see it through glass.

St. Nicholas' Church is one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks in Ghent. Begun in the early 13th century as a replacement for an earlier Romanesque church, construction continued through the rest of the century in the local Scheldt Gothic style (named after the nearby river). Really interesting and one side of historical is the use of blue-gray stone from the Tournai area, the single large tower above the crossing, and the slender turrets at the building's corners. Built in the old trade center of Ghent next to the bustling Korenmarkt (Wheat Market), St. Nicholas' Church was popular with the guilds whose members carried out their business nearby. The guilds had their own chapels which were added to the sides of the church in the 14th and 15th centuries.

(Translated by Google) Powerful and magnificent building. How many churches in Europe have been built for centuries. From the 11th century, there were, according to legend, some chapels or churches, and at the beginning of the 12th the first building was reliably built, which was then upset, absorbing various architectural styles from Gothic to Baroque. The building impresses with its high arches and a combination of ascetic medieval walls and bright stained-glass windows with Baroque decorations, including an altar with huge marble figures. During services and Sunday Mass, visits to tourists are limited.

Not sure if it's worth the price; you're just sitting in a simple church looking at projections of art from Dali with vague music in the background. It's fun for a couple of minutes, but tends to bore quickly as it's rather repetitive. IMO not worth more than 10 bucks max.

A good place to visit! Impressive from the outside and lots to look at on the inside too. Entrance is confusing though, at the top of the church is entry to an unrelated exhibition, entry to the church is from the side that is on the road.

View of Saint Nicholas' Church "Sint Niklaaskerk" and Ghent city skyline seen from the Belfort tower, Ghent Belgium Another one of those places that win whether you go inside or don't. Great inside but don't miss the outside architecture from up top of other buildings surrounding it, especially from top of Belfort tower. St. Nicholas is one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks in Ghent, Belgium. Begun in the early 13th century as a replacement for an earlier Romanesque church, construction continued through the rest of the century in the local Scheldt Gothic style (named after the nearby river). Typical of this style is the use of blue-gray stone from the Tournai area, the single large tower above the crossing, and the slender turrets at the building's corners. The central tower, which was funded in part by the city, served as an observation post and carried the town bells until the neighboring belfry of Ghent was built.

Sint-Niklaaskerk is one of Ghent's oldest Catholic churches dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra. It was built in the 13th century. It was built in the Gothic style from blue suprascald stone. It has a 76-metre-high tower at the intersection of the naves. The church reflects the history and culture of Ghent. The church contains works of art and a historic organ from the 19th century.

Sint-Niklaaskerk (Saint Nicholas Church) is a landmark in the Historic City Centre. It is located amongst many important attractions, making it convenient to visit when in Ghent. Opening hours are 10-5pm (Wed-Sun) and 2-5pm (Mondays). Here you find a beautiful building Scheldt Gothic in style, dating back to the 13th century. The church is constructed from stone from the Tournai area, giving it a blue-grey tinge. I really like the slender turrets, a really nice dimension that adds something of a fairytale quality to the church exterior. The interior is rather simple but has some nice things to see including the historic and important organ made by Aristide Cavaille-Coll of France. I also like the Baroque altar, which is beautiful to view from front and back. There are nice wall frescos and stained glass windows to see as well. Given the convenient location, it is easy to include a stop at Sint-Niklaaskerk for 15-20 minutes while sightseeing in the Historic City Centre of Ghent. The church is free to enter and visit but do consider giving a donation to help with the ongoing restorations of this important historic building.
