You’d be hard pressed to find more friendly and welcoming people that run a bar than here. Add to that an excellent tasty well spiced daily stew and a beer for 50 pesos. I went there 3 times and each stew was great. You’ll be looked after here - great cantina.

Great cantina and local hangout with excellent botanas. Actually, the food offered is more substantial than typical botanas. It is like getting a full lunch for the price of a beer. Definitly not on the tourist trail and not likely to be given its location and unpertentious exterior. Although, a few do find it, like me. Everyone friendly, great service. Family run and family orietnted. This historic cantina has been run by the same family for over 100 years.

I met Pueblo Nuevo in its first location and it was a pleasant surprise to see all the dedication they put into the new place where it is located. I describe this place as a must-see in Mérida, if what you want is to know what local people visit as part of our bar culture. Pueblo Nuevo is in a house in the historic center, so you can see its masonry walls and beamed ceilings. It has a jukebox where you can find old cumbia and rock (it's my thing) and the latest ones. The tables are classic white plastic ones with colored tablecloths that stick to your skin almost all year round due to the characteristic heat of our land. That same warmth, along with the welcome of those who work there, is what gives you the pleasant surprise of receiving a very cold Chela and delicious dishes of varied food that the owner prepares with his characteristic seasoning and love (habanero in everything). I recommend preparing your stomach for this gastronomic experience if you are not a local. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

El bar -cantina- luce de mala muerte pero el servicio y sobretodo la botana son muy buenos!. Los baños pa' llorar.

Obligadamente tienes que pedir otra cerveza para que te den más botana aunque no te la hayas terminado, no es fluido el servicio aunque tengas intenciones de pedir más.
