El Lagarto de Oro

Restaurant Bar

👍👍 Lagatos de oro - a proper vibe. Locals meet other locals here but welcome strangers. Through the saloon style doors and the curtain, the courtyard after dark is hot and noisy, but the walls ring with laughter and clinking glasses. Everyone is beautiful. Complementary tacos and chips with speciality... People often mention service, Great, great, music,

We came here upon recommendation of a friend. At first, we weren’t sure we could even find it, but so glad that we finally did. Upon arrival, we were very impressed with the atmosphere that El Lagarto de Oro emitted. It came across as our kind of place. We received very prompt attention and we were able to get a drink immediately. We needed more time to review the menu, so thank you for your patience. They also brought to our table three different salsas accompanied by these little twists of bread and tortilla chips. The three salsas were unlike anything we’ve ever had. Delicious!!!!! We share most dishes when we eat out,and always pick out two featured menu items that compliment each other. We finally ordered: Quesitos Rellenos con Longaniza and an order of Tacos de Camaron Cremosos. I don’t think we could pick a favorite. Both dishes were outrageous!!!! During our visit, the service was impeccable. Our server, Erika is a Saint. 😊 Various others kept coming up and asking if we needed anything. Marlen and Mariner were very pleasant. Great presentation and very mild mannered. They were extra help to us because they spoke English and were helpful in relaying any questions we had for El Lagarto de Oro.

Lagatos de oro - a proper vibe. Locals meet other locals here but welcome strangers. Through the saloon style doors and the curtain, the courtyard after dark is hot and noisy, but the walls ring with laughter and clinking glasses. Everyone is beautiful. Complementary tacos and chips with speciality dips before you even order a drink this place is where you’d take visitors in your own city (get the Mezcal de Jamaica, it’s like drinking a Mexican campfire).

We're a 75 year old couple, and we visited Lagarto de Oro last night. It was a hopping place with a great DJ and excellent service. My mezcal cocktail was very good. I had 2. The restaurant and patio are very nice. The music was a bit loud, but we enjoyed being there. It isn't a romantic place where you can talk.

AMAZING PLACE! Great ambiance, lots of details in the decoration, extraordinary yucatan food, with a modern hint. Don’t miss out on the filled Xcatic Chile Tacos, the castacan guacamole, and the Queso de bola buñuelos. Great service, and of course great music. Make sure to visit the 3 areas (main room, patio, and speak easy “bodega”.

New favorite bar in downtown! Brand new furniture and great prices, everything has a lizard on it, even bathroom locks!!! Totally cool and affordable prices on beers (cocktails are somewhat expensive, didn't try any). Great place for hanging out with friends, very nice decoration and cool music! 10/10 would return again

Incredible place go for table in the garden the setting with an abandoned house is amazing one very bad point is that the music is very very loud and it not in fashion any more to give such headaches to customers…

A very lovely place, to Meetup with friends. Unfortunately the music is way too loud. We had to shout at one another just to have a conversation. If they took this into consideration they'd be a 5 star eatery.

Service in the back was great. When I moved to the front bar, I ordered drinks and they never came. Told the bar waiter and he said the bartender didn't believe me and that I was just trying to get free drinks for the ones that never came. They then refused to serve me and tried to say they were closing soon meanwhile everyone around me was receiving service.

Excellent kitchen and kind service (thank you Marcos). Went early and sat outside on the Patio. They were very accommodating to my dog and baby. Turned to a cool adult vibe once it got a little later.

I went with my wife, and she was not so sure of what to expect as we crossed the dark curtains to a... Great place! The food and the drinks overall. The snacks have chef quality prep and presentation. Ildefonso took care of us. Great people!

Found this place randomly, from the outside looks like any other building. One inside the atmosphere is great with food to match. Far nicer than I would have imagined and even has a large outdoor area that has live music on the weekends. Also very accommodating to my weak Spanish. Make sure to ask for Diego the manager if he is in. He is geat and super nice.

This was the third time that we had dinner is this unique restaurant with wonderful food, great atmosphere and incredible service. Diego, the host, and the rest of the staff were always in attendance to answer our questions and make recommendations (plus translate). Our favorite dish was the aguachile with shrimp but all our choices were great. When you walk through the door and through the velvet curtains you will have the feeling of dining in an old ruin.

What can I say; 10/10 for trying the hipster industrial style and clothing of the bartenders. Sure a sensational concept that turned out pretty decent. Bouncers outside are a bunch of ‘tarados’ though

A good place. Even for an old guy from Canada. Cold beer. Good service. I will return.
