(Translated by Google) I found it very interesting. The tour includes pieces of the history of the city. The section that I liked the most was that of the colonial period. It is worth taking some time to visit this museum. (Original) Me pareció muy interesante. El recorrido incluye piezas de la historia de la ciudad. Interesting museum. It is small, but It is in a beautiful building. It lacks some context and information. I would have loved more background on the maya communities that lived in merida prior to Spanish colonization and they really glaze over slavery in their descriptions.

Free museum in the centre of Merida. The first floor has informative exhibitions about the history of Merida and Yucatan. The second floor has the arts related to this region. The third floor displays paintings of old Merida and some other art works. A must to go if you want to know Merida in one place.

It’s a beautiful museum to visit to learn about Merida history, culture, and impact. It’s in a beauty building of a post office and near the markets. Perfect for a rainy day too!

Interesting exhibition on the past and present of the city of Merida and its rich Mayan heritage. Highly recommendable also for non-Spanish speaker. Entrance is free, but keep in mind that opening hours on Sunday are until 2 pm.

Gives a nice overview over the city history. However, not the best museum in terms of curation. Moreover, the expositions are a bit old and grubby.

Mixture of engaging local city history with notice boards in Spanish and English with really good art. We actually spent about an hour here and were well impressed. Worth a short walk from the zocalo

For being a free museum I thought it was great. Not a ton of stuff but you can learn a lot about Merida history here which was cool. The market outside that everyone else mentions is also really cool too! Bring cash so you can shop around before or after the museum.

Nice little museum that has a lot of great artifacts of Merida's rich history. It had a nice mix of ancient items as well as modern ones. The building is clean and you can tell it's upkept. It is free to the public so you have no reason not to go!

(Translated by Google) The museum is very nice, it is well organized and divided into two floors of exhibitions, I do not put the 5 stars because its exhibition is very small, I do not think it exceeds 200 items. Still, I think it is worth going to visit, especially because it is free and you can learn a little about the history of Merida.

(Translated by Google) Interesting, but there is a lack of information, hopefully they publish a booklet with more information about the pre-Hispanic people of Mérida, about the conquest of the place and about the museum's headquarters building. Located in a busy part of town full of locals and vendors this museum provides a welcome respite from the heat and the noise outside. The first thing you'll notice about it is the air conditioning. It feels spectacular! The second thing is that no one will ask for a ticket as the place is free to tour. Nice! Then as you wonder about inside you'll run into some neat exhibits and especially nice models of old Maya city of T'hó and Merida itself. There are some English signs but, I must admit, the English needs some corrections, still a nice little museum.

A great place, has 3 floors and completely free, was a little hard to find the entrance. You have to write your data down in a big notebook at the entrance.

  • 4/5 Tam F. 1 year ago on Google
Good, small museum with some interesting history of the city. It doesn't really flow together but I learned a few interesting facts. The art galleries on the 2nd and 3rd floors are more impressive so definitely go up to those if you like painting and illustration.

Left the door open. Went in an was received by the angry greetings of Don Gilberto telling me to get outside of the building because it is 8:59 on his watch! Not a good morning or welcome. After waiting till the minute passed, he finally let me in, still no welcoming greetings, sign there! Wow...CS could be improved.
