A great way to spend an hour or two if staying in Merimbula. The boardwalk starts at Merimbula bridge and stretches for a few km along the lake and through the mangroves and bush. The water was so clear that we could see plenty of fish and even a couple of small rays.

A great experience to walk as it wraps around the lake and the cliffs. There are 8 sections of boardwalk connected by either narrow concrete, one section of road, or dirt track. Mostly the track is narrow, only allowing space for two people to pass. Total length of the track from the carparks at either end is 2.15km (4.3km return). Easy flat grade.

Has a good amount of car parking space. We did the walk in the afternoon on a hot day but it was shady along most of the boardwalk. There are a couple of benches along the way if you need to rest and relax. There was a drinking water fountain as well which was convenient.

Boardwalk is narrow (for social distancing) but lovely with shallow water for fish sighting along the edges and in mangroves. There are walking tracks that continue at the end for further walking if desired. Boardwalk approx 600m great view of the bridge and bay at the other end

Wonderful little walk. Get to see some Oyster farms and lovely river views. Around 4km. 1 hour. A good local walk starter before heading out.

Really cool boardwalk. I found the tiny crabs especially fascinating. Even though the weather wasn't particularly amazing we had an incredible time. You'll walk past oyster farms, beautiful houses, funky wooden benches, abandoned boats β›΅, heaps of vegetation and even a jewelry store 🧐 Lots of good places to take photos with the water

Highly recommended... The Merimbula Boardwalk is popular: we enjoyed it too. During our visits to Merimbula, we have driven past many times and there has always been people out walking. We joined them today and walked most of the course. The walk has a mix of boardwalk, gravel and concrete and takes you alongside open water and oyster farms, through mangroves and coastal vegetation. There is a variety of birdlife including bell birds and eastern curlews.

It’s an epic boardwalk to walk. It’s pretty quiet and nice. It may take about 1.5 hours to go and return. That would be great if walking back and forth in the morning or evening.

Walked along the Merimbula boardwalk - it was ok. There wasn't really a great deal to see - oyster farms, mangroves, little crabs and lizards. Good if you want to just take in a bit of salty fresh air and exercise.

Serene place to get one's steps up while filling the lungs with fresh air and taking in the breathtaking beauty of the environment. The varied colours of the dusky sky are reflected in the still waters. Parents keep their kids entertained by observing tiny crabs scamper and hide, the boardwalk keeping the mangrove safe from human interference. A must-do in the area.

One of the best places to visit in my list. I want to go there more. Refreshing place for walking. My daughter likes to touch water and play with small fishes.

If you enjoy a wander, I'd highly recommend this boardwalk. It is well maintained, and is an easy walk. Beautiful views across the lake and of (gloriously clear but oddly named) Boggy Creek. I walked from my accommodation on the Fishpen side to Sunny's Kiosk (where there is boardwalk parking and toilets) then back and the round trip was just over 6km. There is also parking near the bridge on Market Street.

A wonderful way to take in the natural beauty of Merimbula Lake. A relaxing 20 minute walk each way, passing oyster beds, reeds, bird life and on low tide you can watch the scurrying soldier crabs.
