I'm not one to expect 5 star quality from a budget hotel. Things like chipped paint don't bother me. The room was reasonably clean. I wasn't afraid to sit on the floor. But the safety violations were APPALLING! Our room didn't have a smoke detector. We stayed is a 3rd floor room. The window was unlocked and it didn't have a screen. A small child could easily fall to their doom. There was a car parked in front of the front door in the drop off/pick up area that was blocking through traffic and emergency vehicles. The service was great either. The only luggage cart had a flat tire. And we never got our requested wake up call.

Hotel itself was great. Clean room, beds and bathroom. The 1am check in was a bit slow, but there were 4 people trying to be serviced, so i was understandable. There was a rude customer that came in after i did and was VERY impatient, but i told him to zip it and go the the Motel 6 because the front desk woman did not need to deal with his mouth that early in the morning. Breakfast was so-so. We didn't get down there until late, so there were very little eggs and no meat available. There was another guest that was filling up plates with a ton on food to take upstairs, so that pretty much cleaned out some of the options that we would have had. Checkout was pretty easy, but the price that i was given that night was not what was charged. There was an extra $15 due to tax (partially my fault, i should've asked). When giving a room price in the future, please include the tax. I did get to meet the owners and they seemed very nice. ** I told them that there was a difficult customer at the front desk, and they immediately went to deal with the situation. I'm not sure what the outcome was, but that right there tells me that they care about their staff. **

I gave it 4 stars based on the service from the lady at front desk alone. After I had a disastrous mishap at another hotel (thanks to priceline), she was kind enough to give me some tips for booking next time and made me feel at ease. The hotel lobby is small but clean and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. It felt so nice to take a hot bath and relax. Even after my 4 year old locked us out of the bathroom, she came up to help us get it opened. The breakfast could have been better but for the price, I was happy. I felt a lot safer here and more at ease. I would stay here again.

save your money - DO NOT STAY HERE. roaches all over the bathroom! didn’t notice at first bc they’re nocturnal but they come out at night. went and reported to the front desk and the man was incredibly rude! he said i should have noticed them earlier and refused to give me a full refund. he was extremely confrontational and did not even apologize for my poor stay. horrible service, dirty room, and the elevator was terrible. do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. i will be escalating for a full refund

COCKROACHES, CHUNKS OF DIRT IN BED, HAIR ON EVERYTHING. We tried three rooms, since it was non refundable, we had to pick the best of the horrible options. No bites from bedbugs, but there were splatters from dead roaches clinging to the walls. How on EARTH did this place get more than 2 stars at ALL. I've stayed in weird accommodations all over the planet, and I've never seen a place that obviously doesn't care on this level. Even the desk person was seemingly embarrassed by the conditions. I'M embarrassed that I paid money for this, but I was stuck with it.

Save your money and just sleep in your car!!!!!! Unless you like a cigarette smelly room with worn out mattress that'll fold like a taco, moldy bathroom, and interstate noise . The window second floor completely opens...1) with nothing to keep you from falling out.... or 2) if your not wanting to take the sketchy elevator. Reviews are one thing...but pics don't lie.

After An extremely long day of traveling my husband and I checked into this hotel. Quality inn with the expectation that it would be in fact, quality. To our surprise and dismay. We discovered the bed linens were disgusting. Grossly dirty/stained duvets the pillow cases and sheets were dirty. I was devastated. We were told there were no other rooms available and offered clean sheets as it was almost 2am we accepted the sheets and returned to the room only to discover several roaches in the bathroom tub. We were then offered an "available" luxury suite. But the room was equally filthy whirlpool tub was obviously not cleaned and dirty linens again. We checked out at 2am.Sad!

I am not too pleased with this hotel.. first the room I stayed in had a dead roach in the microwave, also the fridge was not clean, the sheets was not clean either it had blood stains on it.. the pool area is not safe it’s so much water on the floor. the kids kept falling, the toilet was so nasty how could anyone used that bathroom.. I will not be patronizing this location again.. the phone in the room didn’t work.

This place is disgusting, I should’ve know when I had to use the bathroom upon checkin and there were pubic hairs on the toilet seat. The hotel reaked of cigarette & weed smoke. We checked in early & paid $20 for an early check in & then went exploring. Came back around 3pm & then decided to go swimming, I noticed mold growing on the walls in the pool. I had enough, I went to the front desk to see if we could get out of the room & get a refund. She agreed and even gave me a “receipt” for the refund, since “getting my refund” my card has been debited 4 times!!! I am beyond frustrated and I’ve reached out to corporate because I can not even begin to deal with this level of stupidity.

First off to start even though the price is decent the hotel should at least look decent there is drawings and writings on walls and elevators doors a lot of water damage it seems that could of been fixed new paint or at least washed walls to give it that clean feel, also the carpets in the hallway is half vacuumed. My bedroom bathroom had mold on the shower curtain the refrigerator was dirty filled With crumbs and spilled liquid there food or liquids stains on the wall Also lint and dust around the whole room especially by the refrigerator and the iron board lining looks very dirty I feel like this hotel could have so much potential but lazy workers Fr and poor quality service but other than that the bed comfortable

The worst night at the worst hotel choice!! The room wasn’t clean, everything is sticky. The TV table has something to hold it as the pic. The toilet was leaking after flushing and that gross water spills out of the bathroom. The lights are broken, fridge and microwave were both having very bad smell. Check in was after 10pm. The lady took my complaints about the room. And she offered a full refund to leave the hotel (that was at 11pm). I asked to talk to the manager, and she promised he will call me at 7am. 8am I pass by front desk to talk to the manager, there was a very rude guy there who was aware about my issues, and he told me the manager isn’t there and the lady offered a refund that I didn’t accept. While talking he start shouting and asked me to leave front desk (his office) and he holds the phone, I think trying to call the police! Without more arguments I left to the worst room until 11:30 am then I pass by (his office) front desk to give him the key cards. He took them and say thank you! Here I wrote to advise ppl about this hotel, where I can easily reach out to the Choice top management about my concern being threatened at their property.

Room was very dirty. Sticky floors, scuzzy mirrors. There were stains on bedding, chairs, walls and floors. Broken cloths hanger and no screen on the window. Very poor air quality because the fresh air vent was plugged with dirt. The AC unit itself was noisy and had very low airflow so it turned on and off a alot

I was pleasantly surprised. I’m a bit if a hotel snob. Location is good, outside of building a bit drab: glad they added some color to liven it up. Inside the lobby they had cool mid-century modern pleather sofas. Bubbling 5 person hot tub cascades into a fair sized (10 person) pool. Rooms properly appointed but some elements a bit dated. Overall clean and comfortable and a 5 star value for the money. Best value in Merrillville. Family friendly. Breakfast is included.

Room decor has been updated however decor is from mid 2000”s. Sleeping area had some cosmetic blemishes. Bedding was clean. Heating/Cooling unit needs replaced as it did not function properly. BATHROOM that’s another story- clean outdated. Rusted light fixtures holes in the wall and extremely small. Not worth the nightly price charges. Check-in was quick, good location. Needs a cosmetic and functional upgrade

Staff was super nice and friendly. Room was not in great shape. First room on the ground floor the window did not have a screen and the lock was broken. Got moved to another room on the third floor and same issue with the window.

I stayed in Quality Inn at this address - 1350 83rd Avenue, Merrillville, Indiana 46410, United States I called hotel just to confirm my stay before i reach, manager was literally abusive and very ill mannered, my whole stay was hell and when we reach there i saw bugs in my room i do have the recording of it and after complaining he was saying you can leave hotel and the amount which you paid will not be refunded. I want you to take strict action against the manager, i will never recommend anyone to book hotel with you guys.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL, First off the rooms are infested with roaches, they say when you book you are offered a full breakfast in the morning but they only always have spoiled milk and old biscuits. The hallways, elevator, and rooms stink really bad the sheets were filthy and itching. The staff is extremely rude especially the bald guy with the missing teeth. I truly believe they are running some kind of Illegal Indian camp here. Do not stay here you would be better off going to portage I will be going to higher ups to make a complaint as well.

The rooms are dated and need to be remolded. We came as a group for a death of a family member from out of state. We were there for 3nights. While there one couple found a bed bug in their room. Pills were stolen out of another room. My coco chanel perfume was stolen. This was a totally bad experience to add with why we were there. I would not recommend this hotel for any reason. Management and the owner were not helpful at all.

I normally don't give hotels bad reviews. But this one had bad roach problem and a bad sink drains. When I went down to the first desk to ask for a another room it got more crazy. The young lady at the front desk asked why didn't we come downstairs after we noticed the roaches and sink not draining correct. I informed her that it was already last and decided that they should be able to block us another room. After talking to hotel agent, she said that we should have çome down when we noticed the problems. I told her that it was to late to come downstairs and you was fully booked. I also show her the pictures of the roaches. The agent told me to come back after 230 pm, because the hotel was fully booked and she didn't have any clean rooms. After coming back after 3 pm. It was told that the hotel was fully booked and didn't have any rooms. I will never booked on website again and asking for this hotel to return the night stay cost.

The room itself was fine; a clean and comfortable stay at a low price. The hallway smelled really weird, like overcooked cabbage, but that is probably due to a guest cooking in an extended stay room so I can't blame the hotel. However, the amenities were a huge letdown. We booked here specifically because it advertised guest laundry, but most of the machines had clearly been broken for a while, and the front desk had no quarters for the single one that was working. Breakfast was terrible; I'm fine with limited options but the eggs tasted bad and both the waffle batter and orange juice had been watered down -- literally, with water -- to a level that's practically a parody of business stinginess. And there was no coffee at all! We checked out and left hungry and disappointed wearing dirty clothes. One bright spot: the gentleman who checked us in at the front desk was WONDERFUL, and his friendliness definitely improved our stay overall. (I'm sorry I forget his name! We talked about deep-fried Thanksgiving turkey while I checked in! Thank you for being so nice, turkey guy.)

The worst management I saw in my life. We spend there one month as company left around 5K$ for 4 rooms and last day front desk guy say us never come back here cause we left luggage carriage outside not inside hotel. Housekeeping never map and vacuum floor only trash removal. If you company better choose Extended stay across the street.

Disgusting, filthy, hazardous DUMP! My Father came in from Wisconsin and booked 2 nights here. The building is falling apart. There's holes in the walls of the room and in the halls. The carpet in the room was gross, there was a big sticky spot by the night stand. The furniture was tilted due to unlevel structure. There was food debris in the air conditioner unit. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED.

The common areas are nice looking, but the rooms were a bit dirty. It was quiet which was great. The price is very affordable. All in all, it was ok, I just wish it had been cleaner.

This is my first time staying @ Quality Inn for the price I think it's worth it but when you advertise breakfast and a pool they should be accessible. Also, it seems as if there going through some renovations but one of them has to be replacing some of the old furniture in the bedroom. Overall I enjoyed my stay that's why I have give it 3 stars very clean place. Room service was available every day. Breakfast and pool service would have earned another star.

The only reason you guys are getting one star is because it won’t let me give zero! I stayed here for two nights wasn’t even in the room 5 mins and my fiancé found a cockroach and killed it thinking maybe it was one from a traveler nope our whole stay consisted of roaches this used to never be a roach infested hotel before I am very disappointed with my stay I went downstairs to complain to the bald gay dude working the front counter whom has the hots for my fiancé everytime we come there and always asks us if we are going to bring him food to eat my daughter forgot her 7 cans of spaghetti Os in the room came back for them and he hands my fiancé one can and says this is all that’s left I’m sorry so obviously he ate my kids food and couldn’t even replace what he ate that was not his to be eating. A call to the local health department will be made to report the filth and roach infestation of this place when reported the guy felt so offended that he felt some type of way each time we came in and out everything from an attitude when he was spoken too to dirty looks either way money is owed to me for your guys employee helping himself to my child’s food and I will not be staying there ever again due to your guys pet roaches in every hotel room it was so bad I went to take a bath and one was in my bath water never I mean never again!?!
