The Kanteen staff and food are great!! The moment you walk in , you get a smiling face (through a mask) always looking to help even at busy periods. The vegan meatball baguette is divine and the coffe is awesome. Americano with coconut milk give that strong coffee flavour with a sweet spike to it. The cleanliness and disinfection between customers is really thorough and you can see the staff want to make sure everything is right. We will be back again soon. Thanks guys 👍🏻

Five stars from me for being an excellent example of what it is, a snack and coffee bar catering primarily for surrounding workplaces, with attractive and nicely served food, some quite adventurous, choice of settings to sit in, to eat and to linger. A good place for small informal meetings, and to read or work. Child and family friendfly

FOOD POISONING A group of 4 of us went to this restaurant in December 2022. 3 of the 4 of us got food poisoning. I was very sick for several days. The one who didn’t get sick was 8 months pregnant so this was a very near miss in that it could have caused a stillbirth. I provided information to the management and they said they would look into it with it 24 hours. They did not do anything and have stopped responding to my messages. Avoid this cesspit at all costs.

Ordered coffee to drink in waited over 10 minutes and had to go till to remind them of my order. At that point too late. Generally service could be impoved its my second negative experience here. Didnt review first time wanted to give another.

Hidden gem in the square adjacent to the Custard Factory, I popped in for breakfast on a sunny Thursday morning and received a warm, friendly and inviting welcome. Their breakfast/brunch menu offers a range of omnivorous, veggie and vegan friendly dishes freshly prepared in the kitchen. From Simple Porridge (£3.50) to the signature Kanteen BLT Paleo (£7.95). Fentimans & Frobisher juices and like-minded cold drinks complement standard fare hot drinks. My Flat White was perfectly foamed, decorated and delicious (£2.40). There's also a selection of pastries, filled and unfilled croissants to enjoy. Soulful music creates a relaxed and pleasant ambience - and great to listen to the staff happily greet and chat to their customers. A really nice place to be. Recommended.

Been here in the evenings when it’s serving tapas so thought I would give the place a late breakfast. Really good quality produce used, ciabatta bread really nice. Good section of refrigerated drinks. And the white chocolate and raspberry cookie was out of this world.

Epically awesome place to eat & relax. An amazing array of foods for herbivores & carnivores. This is Birminghams best and the coffee is truly inspiring . Love this place! The staff are just passionate about their work and truly enjoy talking to their customers.

What an amazing place, the food here is delicious. In the week you can order vegan food as well as food for omnivores. The staff are wonderful and the service always speedy with a smile. It's the best cup of coffe and food you can get in the custard factory by far!!

Unimpressed. Sandwich was almost thrown at me. Upon opening the bag, I had asked to eat in but still got a take out bag, the filling of the supposed sandwich was all in the bottom of the bag.

Really like this scandi-designed coffee shop cum good work lunch venue in the heart of the custard factory. They serve a number of different delicious sandwiches and two different types of mains everyday. Limiting the selection of mains has really helped them to make them both really tasty and affordable. The service is kind and considerate, once when the card machine wasn't working they let me eat my food and then retry at the end of my experience which I appreciated. I would suggest this place for a working lunch or just a nice quick catch up with friends. It's comfortable and affordable.

Absolute chaos! Came for veggie & vegan breakfast on the basis of reviews. No breakfasts available, but stayed for a quick bite as we were starving. Very limited choices of what to eat and they still managed to bring the wrong thing, then argued over what we'd ordered! Confused staff and it wasn't even busy. 2 stars for decor and ambience, null points for service and (lack of) food.

First time here and loved the feel of it. The character of the place is vintage. I only ordered a latte and it tasted OK. I was meeting a friend for business. I love latte or any hot drinks and always keen on independent coffee shops. The location is within the custard factory and a bit out of the way for me as I work in the city centre but if you happen to be in the area then this must be your number 1 place.

I visited on a busy Digbeth weekend, Kanteen had closed their kitchen for the weekend - I assume because they knew it was going to be busy and couldn't be bothered with the stress. (The kitchen was full of staff though? Doing what I will never know?) Nevertheless, I ordered a coffee and a croissant, they said they'd bring it out to me. After 20 minutes, I went back inside to ask for my croissant which had been forgotten about. Coffee was okay, atmosphere in the place nice, shame about the closed kitchen.

Fantastic service. We arrived with a problem in that due to an evening appointment we had very limited time. The woman who served us was enormously helpful, explaining which meals would be quickest to arrive at our table. And once we'd ordered she prioritised getting our food ready. Great service and good food. Thank you.

Lizzie, Emily and the rest of the staff were so accommodating when I visited Kanteen last week. They allowed me to spend most of the day working here with my dog (not many pet friendly cafes in the area atall)! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was just right. :) Thanks, will be sure to visit again if I'm in the area!

After walking into the door hard thinking it would open and venting my feelings with a swift kick to the door, I treated myself to a pork belly meat bagel and oh my days it was succulent juicey and very tasty! The bread/bagel was very fresh and so nice!

We had a delicious meal at Rico Libra. The food was so fresh and service friendly and speedy! Really recommend the prawns 😋

Went in this morning and asked if they had iced coffee, the woman said yes and we spoke about some of the iced drinks (hence three stars as she was knowledgeable and did answer questions) however after waiting to be served for about 5 minutes she served me and then when I ordered the coffee she told me the ice machine was broken and couldn't do any iced drinks. I've been here before and it was good but honestly I would hesitate to come here again as she could've told me when I first asked about the iced coffee that there was no ice and I wouldnt of wasted my time hanging about for a drink I wasn't going to get. I know it's not their fault the ice machine was broken and it was only 10 minutes wasted out my life but it was a situation that could've very easily been avoided by simply thinking ahead.

Very cute place. The food looks and is amazing and there is a great tea and coffee selection. Can recommend the apple spice tea. The atmosphere is welcoming abd so are the people working there.

Really nice staff members that are willing to go out of their way to answer your questions. Very flavourful and healthy food at a reasonable price. Theres plenty of seating both in store and outside, the general square is especially full of life and I would chose to sit out there every time.

Nice eatery in Digbeth, good quality for the price although the menu could do with a little bit more of variety. Also, usually too much "generic salad" is served with the dishes.

Where can we begin ?... The price were very expensive, not a lot of food to eat. My girlfriend take Linguini's with clams. It was extremely spicy (without warning), she can't finish her plat. The same night she has a sort of indigestion, she vomited 3 times during the night and a very strong diarrhea and stomach pains. I too had some stomach pains but I didn't eat the clams. Maybe it was too spicy to hide unfresh clams ? We had it for 21 £ for two drinks and nothing much to eat. We had to go somewhere else after... In short we will not return and advise it. The only thing positive was the waiter at the beginning who find us a table very quickly even if it was full..(we didn't had a reservation)

I liked it 😁 We have tried the other cafés on Gibb street and they were either hideously expensive or completely terrible 😞 So walking back we spotted the sign for Kanteen and we were pleasantly surprised 😁 We did not have anything to eat but the food looked delicious and you could see through to the kitchen so nothing to hide We had the coffee and it's very good, not what I would call a cappuccino but the coffee was really smooth It's in a nice spot also so if you happen to pass by then stop in I recommend it 👍

High quality food food for both vegan and meet eaters served here. A good range of cakes, coffee and tea and dairy alternatives . Service is nice and the place is cozy. Highly recommend
