A very small place where you can find simple dal chawal or roti sabji that tastes like it is cooked in Bihar right here in Porur! Don't ask or expect anything fancy, this is home food! And don't ask who Neelam is. No one knows! But you can come and eat here every day and your stomach and your wallet will be safe!

Ordered Dal tadka, it was old that was reheated and served. Could have been better foe the price. **Update: Based on the response (comment) by the owner, I see that the Dal is cooked and kept for the day and not done when you order. It's just seasoned at high temperature when you order and then served to you. That's make it commercial.

Taste of North by Neelam's Kitchen has a good mix of snacks and savoury items. The parathas and fulkas/rotis are indeed good. The superhit items are litti chokha, samosa, lemon tea, chicken gravy.. I am yet to try all the items but definitely in Chennai getting another option for North Indian food at a reasonable rate is a relief for me. My best wishes to the owners to make it a successful food joint. Cheers!!!

This gem of a place for authentic north indian food is located close to DLF. The restaurant folks are all north Indians, so you get the authenticity. On a day before ordered for Aloo parattas and I was served with two huge ones. The highlight was their mint chutney which came along with it. The next day , tried out their pooris. They were delicious with their subji served. It's a must try place for those who are looking for real north indian cuisine. The shop is clean looking as well. The only negative being the poker faced restuarant people.

People who want to taste north indian food visit this restaurant. Very tasty and hygienic. I choose phulka with chicken gravy combo, aloo Paratha with raitha, chenna, green chutney. Very tasty and yummy...even kids can enjoy to eat bcoz of less spicy. Reasonable rate. Recommended to try the bihari special..

Served hot and fresh. Gobi paratha initial few bites was good but felt little hard towards the end. Served with Chutney and Dahi. Overall good taste.

Very small restaurant, with a good service and good food. It is more like a place to take quick bites than a place to enjoy north Indian food.

One of my colleagues recommended it, calling it one of the best places to eat authentic North India food in Chennai. Must say I am not disappointed. It is indeed one of the most affordable authentic North Indian kitchens in Chennai. My recommended food item would be litti chokha. It's a must try.

Mine was a take away 3 months ago. Dhal fry was so watery and smelt bad. Jeera rice combo was bland. Quantity was less plus dhal in combo was just water. This was my first and last order. Quality is zero. Road side dhaba food tastes yummy than this food.

Neelam Kitchen Restaurant has truly mastered the art of authentic Indian cuisine, and their Litti Chokha is an absolute revelation. This traditional dish from the heartland of Bihar has been elevated to new heights, creating an unforgettable dining experience. The moment the plate arrived, the aroma alone was enough to transport me to the vibrant streets of Patna. The littis were perfectly golden-brown and had that ideal crunch on the outside, revealing a soft, flavorful center. The accompanying chokha was a symphony of roasted vegetables, mashed to perfection and bursting with earthy, smoky flavors. The attention to detail in the preparation was evident - from the freshly ground spices to the expertly balanced blend of flavors. Each bite was a journey through a spectrum of tastes, with hints of cumin, mustard, and garlic harmonizing beautifully. The heat was just right, adding a gentle kick without overpowering the dish. The dish was served with a side of tangy tamarind chutney which complemented the robust flavors of the Litti Chokha impeccably. The contrast of temperatures and tastes made for a delightful palate dance. The portion size was generous, ensuring that even the heartiest of appetites would be satisfied. The service was prompt and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. In summary, Neelam Kitchen Restaurant's Litti Chokha is a culinary masterpiece, a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity and quality. It's a dish that lingers on the taste buds and beckons you to return for more. If you're seeking a taste of true Bihari cuisine, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Yesterday, Had a wonderful experience here. The ambience was too good. Well air conditioned with clean tables and floor. Had chicken tandoori and Chicken fried rice. The quality and taste of the food is too good. Worthy for every penny you spend here. For a balanced diet go for their rice thali (veg/non veg). You can get carbs, protein and fibre in a meal. Special mention for their hospitality πŸ’•

My first visit & it was a pleasant experience. We ordered Paneer Tikka, Phulka combo & Stuffed poori combo. Food tasted great and service was also good. Stuffed Poori was unique & surprised us. Paneer Tikka was a bit spicy for my kid & the host said we can always ask for lesser spice levels during order. They have quite a few Bihari specialty dishes, which I’m looking forward to have in my future visits. πŸ˜ƒ

Good for everyday eating. Reasonable prices and authentic if you stick to traditional North Indian food. But if you try anything fancy not good especially fried rice which was too spicy by any standards. Jelabis in the evening are too good to resist.

I had parathas over here. Parathas are nice and you will like the parathas over here. Sandwiches are not at all good. If you want to order sandwiches try from other restaurant as it is not at all good.
