Seriously, the nicest place I have stayed, including full hotels. I got a private room - it had AC and everything else you would expect at a hostel. The bathroom was very nice, hot showers, very clean. Drinking water was available, breakfast was good, and the happy hour was fun. The staff was all very friendly and the location is excellent. Will stay at again, if I find myself back in CDMX

This was the best hostel, hands down. Located in the heart of historic center of Mexico City, the hostel itself is surrounded by multiple street vendors and a quick walking distance to ZĂłcalo. The overall colourful design was mind-blowing, private and spacious 'the box' (room) was comfy and well-designed, and clean and ample toilets and showers were well-maintained and always available. As a non-Spanish speaker, it was a big challenge surviving this city for six days. The staffs at the hostel made the first approach to talk to me and they definitely made this trip easier and unique. For all the staffs and the owner of Hostel Barrio, you guys truly deserve high recognitions of the magic you've created. Muchas Gracias!

I'm not exaggerating. This is the best hostel in the world. Everything is new and clean. Dorms are very big and has locks for each bed and also there is safe box for inside the beds. First time I saw little space with hangers by the bed. Location is good and nice staff. Sheets and towel very clean. Simpl breakfast included 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

In terms of the sleeping arrangements, this is the nicest setup I have found in my 7 years of travel. Spacious beds with *locking* doors, shelves, lighting options, an electrical outlet, and even a safe. It’s literally everything you need. There are tons of events happening everyday and the group WhatsApp for guests is genius. I do wish there were enforced quiet hours, which I think would help with some of the noise (which primarily occurs with other guests who for some reason think it’s totally fine to talk extremely loudly on the phone/to each other late at night). Staff is super friendly and kind for the most part. Location, it’s hard to get anywhere better it’s a 10 minute walk to most major sites in the historical district. Also, impressed by the number of women solo travelers, I felt very comfortable because of that.

I really like it here. Super clean. The staff are great. Love the capsules. Excellent location. Not too noisy, there is noise, but better than some hostels. Oh, and Thomas's tours are fantastic. World class.

Been travelling for years but I can say this hostel checks all the boxes for what I am looking for. Value, Community and Style! It even has a coworking space, nice breakfast included and friendly staff. Number 1 place to go in Mexico City specially because of its proximity to the places you should visit.

Stayed in a fair few hostels but this one really stood out! Everything is brand new and so well designed. Super clean showers and common spaces. Dorms had several beds but each has its own locked pod, with space for your luggage and clothes. Not really a party hostel but there were plenty of social events and a nice rooftop bar/working space. Location was very central and walking distance to most tourist hotspots or the tube if you needed it. Only downside was the kitchen wasn't very well equipped so cooking would be trickier.

I booked a private bed in the female dorm the day of my arrival, it was easy to book and check in. The bed was in the coolest modern shipping container space (twin bed, closet, shelves and lock box with locking sliding door) that was just enough for my stay while I toured the city. After the included breakfast, I was happy to find there was a walking tour provided by the hostel one of the days I stayed, too!

Very clean. Loved the pod dorms. There is rooftop so you can chill. However I did not like the vibes. There were many volunteers and they were very loud and drinking at the rooftop or at the bar ALL THE TIME. They were just having fun. Not taking care of guests. There are activities everyday but almost no one attended. The guests were mostly locals and not many international traveler which makes it difficult for a non Spanish speaking traveler to mingle…

Barrio has been the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. I love the box beds that provide privacy and security and include a safe and storage for your personal belongings. The meet & greet happens daily at the bar on the 3rd floor and was a great way to meet others staying in the hostel, especially for a solo traveler like myself. I really appreciated the free walking tours and karaoke, and other events hosted (yoga on the roof) Jair was awesome! He hosted karaoke and led a fantastic tour of the historic district. I really wish I had stayed long enough to enjoy his bike tour. Barrio’s location is prime. Within very short walking distance to many cool sites, just a couple steps away from great food, and pharmacies/shopping. I will be recommending this place to anyone that tells me they’re visiting CDMX.

Kiwi checking in. My wife and I just spent 3 nights at Hostel Barrio. The place is amazing, really cool art work, beds were comfortable, clean facilities, nice bathrooms, staff helpful, and all around a real vibe. 10/10. If you are in Mexico City you can't go wrong here!

This was the best hostel I’ve ever stayed out. The rooms were clean, the bilingual staff were friendly, and each private pod LOCKED. It was perfect as I prefer having all my things in one space when traveling and getting a top bunk and wanting to lock your things is sometimes a pain.

Very close to CDMX main attractions, with a nice coworking, hangout/bar and live music area, it was a good place to stay. Can be noisy for light sleepers, but I tire myself by exploring the area, so no problem with that. The rooms have sort of pods with wood sliding doors, with safety box, and a lock key to the pod. Overall, excellent in regards to privacy and safety. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly. Nice Internet, same SSID works in all the areas, quite convenient. Extra points for that đź‘Ť

Stayed there a full week while visiting CDMX, and would recommend. The amenities (shared bathrooms and other common areas) are clean and not overcrowded, the breakfast is very nice (and many different options to choose from), the room was small and windowless but 1) we were aware of it when booking so it’s fine ! 2) there’s good lightning in the room so it doesn’t feel dark 3) the mattress is comfortable and there’s a cupboard and safe to store your stuff Some caveats though : the staff speaks no English (even asking when was checkout time was complicated, and we couldn’t communicate problems or questions we had), the keys kept dysfunctionning. We booked an excursion, and they cancelled it but didn’t tell us until it was time to go… disappointing ! Most of all : the rooms on the 1st floor are located near the front desk, and you get woken up all the time by the bell (the night guard has to open the door for the guests during the night - it’s pretty annoying), this was frustrating. Overall good experience but bring air plugs, don’t count on their excursions (they can happen, or not) and it’s waaaay better if you’re speaking Spanish.

The best hostel I have ever been to, everything is new and very clean with unique design, third floor is bar and balcony where you can chill and drink, fourth is the rooftop and you can do yoga, enjoy the fresh air and chill on hammock! They have daily activities and meet and drink events which are the good opportunities to meet new people!

I absolutely loved my stay here. everything was lovely and there's really nothing I can fault. the staff was amazing, everyone from the reception to the bar and the volunteers. there's plenty of activities but it doesn't get too wild, so it's still pretty quiet at night while being super social. the pod beds are GREAT. the cleanliness is fantastic; sincere congratulations to the housekeeping team. I've stayed in over 200 hostels and this place genuinely impressed me. and the price is nice, however, I'd recommend booking ahead to get a better deal.

It's a great place for solo travelers. The staff are amazing people and every day/night there are some plans and events you can attend. The rooms are also clean and comfy. The only thing is that you can't get much sleep due to the noises of CDMX, which is a part of this city that never sleeps!

Soulless and staff are reserved, polite enough i suppose. If you want to be completely isolated and have a comfy bed/ room it's perfect but most people go to a hostel to meet other travellers or at least have some human interaction. I feel like the hostels set up makes it impossible to make friends the bar and rooftop are silent! Like people were working in the bar in the evening sometimes. I regretted it personally but it might suit u if you want zero human interaction.

Staying here at the moment in my own private room but have seen the mixed rooms and they are at such a high standard, so happy i found this place. Been doing the free walking tours + yoga every morning. Makes being in a new city so much easier. Thank you! Will be back again :)

Amazing hostel in CDMX. Stayed for 6 nights in a private room and it was great. Perfect location, AC, activities ran by the hostel, great social spaces, always clean, brilliant WiFi and very kind staff. Would recommend to anyone if they are coming to Mexico City- great value for money.

Okay, just wow! We got here a few hours ago, it is incredible. Haven’t even slept yet, but the dorms look sooo cozy:)) You get your own individual key for the cabin, which has light, a lot of space for bags/clothes and shoes. There is a save, you can charge your phone and it is all made out of beautiful wood. The barrio is very nice, loads of restaurants, bars and stores. You can walk around with no concerns about safety. The building feels very safe as well, it is built across multiple levels, which have a balcony, a bar, a rooftop with a small football field, comfortable chairs and a nice atmosphere. Perfect place to meet other travellers, the staff is beyond nice and i already want to stay here longer than the two nights we booked. Also, the prices are very, very reasonable, great beer and there is a happy hour with margaritas that will knock you out of your seat (maybe even literally;). Recommend this place 100%, can’t wait to discover more of it. Thanks!

This was definitely the coolest hostel I have ever stayed in!!! Loved the dia de muertos decorations. Very clean and new facility. Everything from the rooms, bathrooms, rooftop, drinks, food, I loved. Great customer service! I can't wait to stay here again, until next time. I will definitely be back. Next year.
