We just finished our Market immersion tour with Gabe. What a fun experience! We visited the Jamaica, Sonora, and the Merced markets. Sampled many local foods and even learned how to make a lunch time snack. We feel blessed to have be able to spend the day with Gabe who has grown up around the markets and knows so many people there. My favor stop was to visit the artist Amimal Sagrado. He is responsible for the beautiful murals that Grace the outside of the Jamaica market. We can’t wait to return and explorer one of the other tours available.

Ale was a great host, very personable. We did the Xochimilco Chanampas tour and I'm so glad we went with Mexico Underground instead of the thousands of party boats aka tourist traps. The canals themselves were so serene and peaceful and our tour was private and intimate with our party of 4. We saw an Axolotl farm, Nantli Farm with lunch, and island of the dolls (which..was not our favorite thing). The history and current situation of the waterways brought to our attention were very informative and good to know. We met locals / farmers. Such a special experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Three of us took a private tour to Teotihuacan with Ale, and it was fantastic. She was a really knowledgeable and fun guide. We started the tour at Teotihuacan and then drove to visit a family obsidian workshop. We tasted some pulche there as well as mezcal and their homemade jams and products, and then we made our way back to the city. It was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the incredible city of Teotihuacan and its history. We loved every minute of the tour!

We went on a tour of the Mercado with Ubish, and it was fantastic. Ubish knew lots of people, took us to eat at some great places, answered all our questions and was very easy to get along with. Before we even met him, he asked questions about what we wanted and was able to tailor an experience just for us. Bonus, we had our young son with us for the tour, and he accommodated him wonderfully. He might be Ubish's biggest fan. Highly recommended.

Mexico City wouldn’t have been the same without Mexico Underground’s late night taco tour and exploring the floating gardens of Xochimilco. Thank you Ubish!

The market tour we had was incredible! We will recommend it to all of our friends. We had so many experiences that we wouldn’t have been able to have on our own. And Ubish was very knowledgeable and friendly. We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our day

I loved this tour and had the best night! It was lovely to visit a very local neighborhood that I would not have otherwise discovered. All of the stops were incredible, so much delicious food, along with interesting stories about CDMX history and culture from my amazing guide. Highly recommend this fun experience.

Upon arrival, Ubish mentioned our names and offered us a cup of coffee. We felt welcomed and with such a friendly atmosphere we had a fantastic start! Ubish was extremely knowledgeable about Mexican culture and cuisine, and he was very flexible (appreciate this!). We are so lucky to have found him. He is an excellent guide, taking us to places we would not have seen without him. He took us to a magical place, "the real Xochimilco" ...away from the noisy tourists. We spoke to local farmers, ate tlacoyos with them, and experienced the real life of the natives who still live and farm in the chinampas. After this we visited the beautiful market of Xochimilco. The atmosphere with Ubish is so special that it really felt like home to all of us. All respect for Ubish who does a great job there; an excellent tour guide!

The Downtown History and Food Tour with Evelyn and Alejandra was outstanding and highly recommended! Their knowledge of the history of Mexico City was excellent and their excitement in sharing the food and culture is evident.

This was a wonderful tour! Our guide Ale was welcoming, knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable in an unfamiliar place. We learned a lot and got to experience an integral part of Mexico City life we would have otherwise missed doing the usual tourist things. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our tour of xochimilco with Ader. He enthusiastically showed us the canals, a farm, the island of the dolls, among other things. The area is very interesting and an important part of Mexico City. I highly recommend!

We did the Xochimilco tour. Our daughter flipped for the Axolotls. It was a special treat to visit a family trying to preserve these very endangered creatures, and fascinating / frustrating to hear about how their habitat was disrupted. We also visited a farm/ranch and enjoyed a beautiful farm to table lunch. The Island of the Dolls was more of a curiosity than something substantial, but it was fun, too. Ale was a phenomenal guide, and pick up / drop off at our place in CDMX was a snap. Highly recommend.

Mexico Underground is an amazing tour company! Ubish and Indrani lead us through La Merced, Mercado Sonora, and Mercado de San Juan on a delicious food adventure. We tried everything from eyeball tacos, scorpions, deep fried tamales, and more! I had some of the tastiest birria from our whole Mexico trip on this tour! They make it extremely customizable to your group's interests and food preferences. If I'm ever back in Mexico City, I'm definitely going to be an experience with Mexico Underground!

Hands down the best tour. Eve is an outstanding guide that goes above and beyond to provide you a memorable experience. Take the “immersion” part very seriously and prepare to dive deep into all the ins and outs of the markets all while enjoying delicious food, perhaps even cooking your own. Come curious, come hungry, leave connected.

We had an amazing tour with Ader doing the market immersion tour! He was friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and knew all the best spots. Our tour with him was a great way to experience CDMX! This was my second time doing a tour with a Mexico underground and I cannot recommend them enough!!

My husband & I recently had an amazing experience with Rodrigo and driver Robert visiting Teotihuacan site. (For transparency the tour was booked by my husband and is under his name) Rodrigo is a knowledgeable guide and made the experience so much more in depth and truly shared insights into the history and cultural heritage. He went at our pace and spent time on our questions. His knowledge and authenticity made the experience so much more meaningful to us. Not only that day, but informed our independent exploration of Mexico City after the tour. I highly recommend this company for a fun and in-depth tour if you’re visiting CDMX!

Rodrigo was an amazing guide. Our trip was aimed at finding out more about our Mexican heritage and he absolutely delivered. We toured local spots, stopping by various markets and streets catered toward specific needs. The places we ate were definitely authentic in presentation and flavor. This was the real Mexico! Rodrigo seemed to know everything and made us feel comfortable the entire time. Gracias amigo!

Ubish and his team were absolutely amazing! We had the best taco tour with him, trying a variety of amazing food and learning a ton about the city in the process. He also helped me to organize a private dinner and going out for a large group (13 people) and went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best time. I cannot recognize Ubish enough! he is the best!!!

My tour with Rodrigo to Teotihuacán was life changing. He brought the spirit, complexity, mystery, magic, and spirituality of the ancient peoples alive for me all in a style that was engaging, instructive and interactive from start to finish, plus he’s a lovely person! I couldn’t recommend Rodrigo and Mexico Underground more highly. The trip to the nearby Obsidian wood worker, Miguel, was no less magical as he taught us the incredible medicinal, nutritional, practical and spiritual uses of the minerals and plants in his backyard. As a New Yorker form a major city it was astounding to see how people past and present live close to the land in ingenious and creative ways.

We had an amazing time on our Tacos at Night tour! All of the tacos and other dishes we sampled were amazing and delicious. Ale's descriptions of the history behind each dish was fascinating and made us appreciate them even more. We would highly recommend this tour!

You won't find a better tour guide than Evelyn with MX Underground. Our Markets Immersion Food tour was well worth the price -- do not hesitate, the value is amazing. Evelyn took us to over a dozen different market vendors by paths only locals would know. She showed us to incredible food, delicious beverages, fascinating shops, city history, and the way of market life. We even got to cook on a comal with her family who run a fantastic restaurant, Huaraches Ramoncita (Loc 47)!!! The food was incredible. When you're drinking "chelitas" talking about life with a local in the sunshine while watching the Mercado de la Merced come alive, it stops feeling like just a tour. It was an amazing time in an amazing city. Thank you Evelyn and MX underground. We'll hopefully be back again.

Amazing tour with our guides today! Such an informative and fun tour. Our two guides made us laugh, answered all our questions, and brought us to the best mom and pop taco shops. My favorite was the first stop, which is the family establishment of of our female guide, where we made our own huaraches with grilled cactus on top. It was interactive and we all got aprons and formed our own corn huaraches, stuffed them with beans and grilled it on a stove. It was a great way to start our tour and all of us really enjoyed it. 10/10 would recommend! $75 USD is to totally worth it considering the time and variety of food choices.

Our tour with Evelyn was one of the highlights of our trip. I requested more of a custom itinerary to try and include Coyocan and UOM and they were able to build a great day for us. We started out early morning driving to Xochimilco and we were immediately impressed by how in depth Evelyn's knnowledge was. She filled the drive with incredible history and local facts. The entire reason we signed up for this experience was to have a more authentic experience and less conventional and we definitely got that. Our first stop on the trajinera in Xochimilco was Chinampa Nantli farm where we were given a welcoming ceremony and made a hot breakfast all with items grown on the farm. They made fresh herbal tea for me and coffee for my husband. It was an incredibly memorable meal. Overall, the day felt incredibly special and made us want to return to sign up for more.

I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Mexico City! I took the markets tour and genuinely felt like I experienced life from the point of a local. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made this tour unforgettable. They also went out of their way to recommend other places in the city. I’ve done a tour of most major European cities and this one in Mexico City blew them all out of the water!!! Make this your first activity in Mexico City and you will have the best trip.

Ubish is the best tour guide I’ve had. I’ve done two tours with him for La Merced in Mexico City, Mexico. Both times, he was able to take us to food spots that not only were delicious but highlighted the culture of Mexico City. We tasted a ton of delicious street food, saw the culture of the city, and learned quite a bit of history about the market and the historic area by Bellas Artes. 10/10 would recommend. Can’t wait to see you again Ubish. ¡Hasta luego!

We went to Teotihuacan in the early part of a Friday with Rodrigo and it was such a powerful and deeply moving experience. Rodrigo was extremely engaging and a knowledgeable tour guide which made the experience unforgettable. His clear passion for the Teotihuacan culture and it's connection to the present-day community and Mexico as a whole was an experience that cannot be manufactured. His knowledge of MesoAmerica and guidance of the pyramids and their relationship to the past and present made this a can't miss experience.

I had a great time touring with Ubish through the street markets and trying different foods. A safe, entertaining, and delicious experience overall that is sure to give you some of your best memories of Mexico City. Ubish speaks excellent english. Although my spanish may be passable, I found myself speaking to him in english because of his expertise.

Food Tour: Centro Historica We spent a fabulous day with Ubish doing a street food crawl around the San Juan Mercado. Ubish is the perfect guide. He is knowledgeable, passionate about food, gracious, with a touch of humour. He tailored our day to our requests. With Ubish, the market was a visual feast with explanations. Seeing the graffiti art was a bonus. Mexican food is big now. Tourists are coming to Mexico with their curiosity and their appetites. Ubish makes it easy, fun, and safe. In short: The romance without the heartache.

Ubish showed us an amazing time. We went on a street food tour and he took us to the most incredible little places that we never possibly could have found on our own to share dishes we have never seen before. Drawing from his childhood experiences, professional education, and network of relationships, Ubish curates a delightful journey of traditional fare and unique local ingredients. Even more fun for me was how much he included local history, highlighted interesting art and architecture, and taught us about the culture in between bites. Tours aside, Ubish is also such a pleasure to be around. His enthusiasm, knowledge, passion, and humor are wonderful. I highly recommend spending an afternoon or evening with Ubish for anyone visiting CDMX.

We had an absolutely amazing time exploring Mexico city with Ubish! Indeed we had such a great time that we did two tours with him! We ate an absurdly delicious number of tacos in an evening food tour (I think I counted consuming 12 tacos throughout the night), and then did a colorful multi-market day tour, which also consisted of many delicious food stops along the way. Ubish is incredibly knowledgeable and deeply passionate about food, cooking and the communities he explores with you. Everywhere we went, people knew him, which made our experience all the richer. He was generous, thoughtful and really helped create a wonderful experience - helping us to see a part of Mexico City we would have no access to on our own. We absolutely recommend signing up for a tour, or two, or three!

I cannot overstate how amazing our tour with Mexico Underground was. Ubish took my wife and I all over town, to three awesome markets and to more food stops than I can even remember. Ubish is super knowledgeable about the city and, of course, its food! He was incredibly flexible throughout the day, making sure we got to see and eat what we wanted. The best meals we had were either with Ubish or from recommendations that he gave us. There is zero doubt that when we return, we will be meeting up with Ubish for another tour. If you're interested in stepping a bit outside of the typical places you'll read about on trip advisor, learning about the city, its history, and its people, and spending the day with an all around cool person, definitely book a tour with Mexico Underground!

We had an incredible time with Ubish during our Jamaica flower market tour last month. We’d stop at different locations throughout the market to sample amazing food. My personal favorite were the Esquites. He’s very informative and takes the time to explain the processes used for the food and history about the market. I can’t wait for my next tour with him when I’m bad to CDMX.

My husband and I had the most amazing day with Ubish! We went on a private tour with him to three different markets. Each market was completely unique and going to all three and a few other spots in between made for an awesome day. First, Ubish is extremely knowledgeable about the city, the places and areas that he took us, Mexican culture, and, of course, Mexican food! Second, he's just a pleasant person to be around, which made the tour much more like exploring the city with a local friend as opposed to a rigid organized tour. He was super adaptable to our particular interests (for instance, adding an excellent carnitas spot to the tour on the fly because we hadn't had any on our trip yet). He was gave us awesome recommendations of things to do and places to eat in other parts of the city, all of which turned out to be amazing. When we return to Mexico City, we will most definitely book another tour with Ubish, it was definitely a highlight of our trip.

If you are planning a visit to Mexico City, a food tour with Ubish and Mexico Underground is a MUST. Both my husband and I work in the industry (he's a chef, I'm a food & travel journalist) and not only did we get to eat amazing food that we never would have found on our own during our time with Ubish, but his unending knowledge made it a learning experience every step of the way. And not just about food, but about the city's culture, history, etc., which made the experience unforgettable. Definitely the highlight of our trip.

Ubish is an amazing guide - he took us to all of the best spots for tacos and other delicacies and we had such a great time touring the city with him! He is so knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations for activities, restaurants, and bars all around CDMX. Could not recommend more highly!

  • 5/5 Imai Thomas W. 5 years ago on Google
Ubish was absolutely amazing in creating a great tour for my first time in CDMX! Bouncing between tacos, mezcal, pulque, fresh fruit and market tours, he was able to integrate CDMX food culture with commentary on street art and the ways of Mexico City. And to top it off, we both found ourselves at the American Legion in Condesa at the end of the evening listening to stand-up comedy! If you're looking for a great (and educational) tour with a very friendly guy, book Ubish!

  • 5/5 Brittney S. 5 years ago on Google
We had such a wonderful time on our tour with Ubish! He is an expert on the history, food, and nightlife in CDMX. Hanging out with Ubish felt more like hanging out with a friend - he is thoughtful, kind, and funny. We had so much fun and learned so much about the city. We highly recommend booking a tour with Ubish during your visit in CDMX.

Ubish was an incredible guide. We got a great mix of some architecture, history and of course lots of food. We had an incredible time trying so many foods. Excellent Taco Food Tour with Arturo. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and knows all the great spots. Food was plentiful and even a few drinks were provided. Definitely worth a visit for some great authentic Mexican food, history and stories. Do this tour if you're looking to eat like a local, sorry no taco bell on this tour!

Such a great, intimate and personable experience. If you want a tour that is not a party boat this is the one for you. It was educational and felt very calming. It was great to hear how the community is working to preserve so much of the Axolotl’s, the Chinampa land and the environment. Our guide Ale was super accommodating and gave us a great tour and translation. Highly recommended!

Rodrigo took my family and I on the Xochimilco experience, and it was absolutely amazing! One of a kind tour of a chinampa with an amazing lunch made from farm fresh ingredients grown right on site. Rodrigo is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and Mexican culture in general. Highly recommend!

This is the best Mexico City experience there is! Our guide Rodrigo was truly passionate and super knowledgeable about not just the markets but the history and culture of the city. If you do one thing while in Mexico City, take the tour with these guys. O, and the food was amazing! They know all the best spots. My life changed after eating the green chorizo. I will be forever grateful for that experience.

We enjoyed the tour very much, especially the visit to the axolotl farm. Ale was a great guide, and we felt very comfortable and learned a lot. My kids loved the animals at the farm chinampa where we had lunch, especially the rabbits and cow. The visit to the Isla de Muñecas was creepy but also interesting! Highly recommend this tour, especially if you would like to avoid the crowded party boat area and learn about the history of Xochimilco.

Adriana did an amazing job being our guide for two days in a row. The first day, she took us to Teotihuacan and brought the place to life. The second day, she took us to Coyoacan and we got to visit the Museo Frida Kahlo. She was informative and on time. She took great care of our large party, which included younger kids. Would highly recommend Mexico Underground Tours -- ask for Adriana (she's awesome!).
