A very nice memorial right in the heart of the Deco District. You can hardly walk the area without crossing paths with the memorial. The area is safe and well traveled. During the day it can be crowded but the crowds move and flow well.

Who was Barbara Capitman? She was an inspirational American community activist, author and preservationist. Her passionate efforts enabled the protection of Miami Beach's iconic art deco architecture, and the founding of the Miami Design Preservation League. In honor of her dedication, a historical marker, memorial and statue stand on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida. To appreciate the beauty of her legacy, take the time to visit her statue and remember what she achieved.
