Makoto,
nestled
in
the
upscale
Bal
Harbour
Shops,
offers
an
excellent
dining
experience
that
merges
a
stylish
ambiance
with
top-tier
Japanese
cuisine.
While
some
might
hesitate
at
the
idea
of
a
restaurant
in
a
mall
setting,
Makoto
stands
out
as
a
delightful
sanctuary,
perfect
for
a
gourmet
break
in
a
day
of
shopping.
The
meal
commenced
with
an
outstanding
serving
of
Brussels
sprouts,
paired
with
a
glass
of
Sancerre
that
was
as
crisp
as
the
conversation.
The
tuna
crispy
rice
followed,
setting
a
high
bar
and
easily
ranking
as
one
of
the
best
I’ve
savored.
The
cucumber
seaweed
salad
was
a
refreshing
interlude,
with
a
vinegary
zest
that
cleansed
the
palate
beautifully.
The
vegetable
fried
rice
was
competent,
though
it
didn’t
quite
dazzle
amidst
the
other
standout
dishes.
A
slight
letdown
was
the
cucumber
roll,
which,
while
fresh,
was
too
sparing
on
the
cucumber
for
my
liking.
Service
throughout
was
efficient
and
unobtrusive,
encapsulating
the
high-quality
service
that
enhances
the
dining
experience.
Rating
Makoto,
I’d
say
it’s
a
solid
4
out
of
5
on
food
for
its
mostly
impressive
offerings,
a
4
out
of
5
on
ambiance
for
its
chic
setting
despite
the
mall
location,
and
a
full
5
out
of
5
on
service
for
the
attentive
and
professional
staff.
In
summary,
Makoto
is
a
must-visit
for
those
seeking
exquisite
Japanese
cuisine
in
Miami,
with
a
few
minor
tweaks
away
from
perfection.
