WOW… what happened to El Floridita? As a UM student living on campus years ago, this was my favorite restaurant to take my out-of-town friends to. Any time anyone was in the mood for seafood, I encouraged them try this restaurant. The food was always so fresh, flavorful, and the portions were more than worth the prices. My favorite was the appetizer sampler, El Combo Floridita. It had the perfect mix of seafood and Cuban-style sides. It was enough for 3 people to share before their meals, and also good enough to BE the meal. I went back today with a coworker who had never been there and ordered to-go. I hadn’t been there in about 2 years and was excited to return - oh man, was I embarrassed that I even chose this restaurant. The sampler is now completely different which wasn’t really the issue, although I do feel the original combination of items was WAY better. First of all, the portion sizes are RIDICULOUS for the price. I swear it had like 6 small calamari rings, a couple of shrimp, and 3 small chunks of fish. This photo was taken without taking anything out. This was all that was given. The fish and shrimp were tasteless, like they fried some frozen fish from Walmart. The fish croquetas, which I used to say were the best fish croquetas in Miami, were extremely BLAND. The ONLY thing that made the food taste better was the dipping sauce they gave with the food, but unfortunately they only give you one small container. I kept saying “sorry, this wasn’t like this before!” to my coworker who was also disappointed by the food after I raved about this restaurant. I don’t mind paying high prices for good food, but this was such a disappointment that it felt like a complete rip off, like paying $10 for a McDonald’s burger. Needless to say, this is my last time going here. This is just yet another restaurant that used to be amazing that has now sacrificed taste, quality, and decent portion sizes.

I come here all the time, and it’s my favorite place. Food is great and so are the workers. It’s very affordable if you plan on coming with a lot of family and are on a budget. The inside is decorated nicely and it feels cozy.

What wonderful experience we have every time we come to this location. Rey, a true professional, always makes sure to make us feel at home. The ambiance and presentation of the restaurant is quiet, peaceful, and private. The walls are decorated with fish species, angler trophy pictures, and more. The wine offered on the menu is great and for every budget. When you leave you will realize that you were not at the Florida Keys, but in Kendall. A true gem in Dade.

I really liked this Miami Suburban Seafood concept. Nice limited Seafood menu, affording the restaurant to focus rather than offer everything that swims in the ocean. Service was both hospitable and expeditious. Strong demand for seating in a relatively limited capacity restaurant. Again, I really like the menu and a couple of choices that focus on a more economical offering (combo plate with soup, entrée and dessert or coffee) in addition to serving high-end Seafood. Worth a visit!

Being a long haul truck driver, I don’t often get the luxury of dining out. My company has a regular drop in this area. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there. I was looking for something to eat, and I walked a short walk past 4 different food trucks, but really wanted something new. Even though they have two other locations around Miami. Walked up to the carry out, and was greeted with a huge smile, and a friendly lady working the area. I noticed that the menu was not quite the same, as the one from the menu photo, so that means they do things seasonal. The whole area from the large patio, to the sidewalk area and the parking lot was immaculate. All of the staffers that I talked to, were friendly and smiling. The inside was warm airy and inviting. The bathroom was sparkling. I ordered lobster bisque, mind you I only order seafood when I’m in an area that is near the ocean. The soup was fantastic, it was perfectly seasoned, the right amount of thickness, the base obviously had been made from lobster shells, with small bits of lobster, just the way it’s supposed to be made( sorry lobster bisque is not made with chunks of lobster), with a touch of sweetness. There was no grittiness at all. I had taken a large bite and absolutely loved it, after that every bite I took was a small one, so as to savior every bite. The blackened mahi-mahi tacos were excellent, perfectly seasoned, the fish was moist, and the sauce was just enough. Served in flour tortillas, it was not short on ingredients and flavor. The potato chips were cooked perfectly, no greasy spots or flavor at all. I can’t express my delight with the whole experience. I wished that I was eating there tonight, but life on the road doesn’t allow.

The food is delicious but the atention is not good. It is unrespectful hurry the costumer when they finished to eat. Or not to offer the split accounts when the table is big.

On a Wednesday night, I ordered the octopus (appetizer) and the paella. The octopus was so great, that I wolfed it without really stopping for breath. I appreciated that the waiter asked me whether I liked paella “soft,” or relatively more cooked. The paella was fantastic! It was extremely rich, and full of delicious sea creatures, chicken, and chorizo. The (2-person) serving size was huge. The greater part of it was boxed up to go. I threw it deep in ice in a marine cooler, and didn’t finish it until Saturday, three days later. And it was just as good on Saturday as it had been on Wednesday. Exceptional restaurant! En serio.

After a hard day of working and dealing with my car getting towed this place helped ease the tension between my husband and I lol. The service was great! I was surprised the restaurant wasn’t busy. We were seated right away and our server was quick and friendly. We had the lobster bisque soup, which was creamy and delicious. We shared fish croquettes, they were really good. My husband had the fried fish and I had the lobster ravioli, both dishes were excellent. We finished off with crema catalana, it was small for two, but I guess it’s God’s way of telling watch your weight! Lol This was my first time coming here and definitely won’t be my last. I’ve gone to their original restaurant off of bird with my grandma many times and it’s never disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant. Sorry for no photos….

Very delicious! 😋 I found the fish spread a little on the salty side, but not fried roe or the whole fried snapper, which was spectacular. Fresh made lemonade was a nice touch, too. Service was excellent, well worth the drive to the 136th Street location.

First and foremost, I have to say, the food was really deliciously cooked and high quality. The portions are fair, not large but fair. What makes this a 2 star rating is the fact that this restaurant charges YOU, for using a credit card. They tried charging my friend too who paid in cash. This is extremely rare for a restaurant to do this, it is a cost of business and for the customer to pay these fees on top of pricey food, and tip just ruins the experience and makes it more of a poor business transaction. For that reason, my friend and I won’t be dining here and we recommend you don’t take your business here either when 95% of the restaurants around don’t charge ridiculous fees.

Great little find as visited for the weekend from Canada. Stayed at a local hotel and found this place quite by accident. Sunday brunch/afternoon is a time for locals to visit. Mostly church goers it seemed. We had dinner plans that night so we only ordered 6 oysters, shrimp with tostadas, and mussels. We washed it all down with a nicely priced bottle of champagne. Server was fast, staff were pleasant and polite and food was awesome (the oysters were organic and too large for my wife but I managed to get them down!). The shrimp was spicy and the garlic butter mussels were to incredible. What a nice find for about $100. Thanks!!

I love their chicken soup. It was the main reason I went because it was getting a little cold out. (In Miami? Yes it happens from time to time!) Ham croquettas were a little on the salty side, but soo good. The bread was amazing and warm. The fish sandwich was really good. The bun complimented the fish and the chips were fantastic. The server was a little impatient with us - not sure if it was because we didn't want to drink alcohol. I don't remember his name, but we did have to wait a decent amount of time to request our bill. Little details here and there that could be improved on, but I love this place and we definitely will be returning.
