Usual excellent fare at the Star. We went for the sharing Sunday lunch which came with a good portion of the three meats together with all of the accompaniments Well cooked and the Rev James gravy tops it all off. Only thing didn't quite go right was that we ordered a pint of Rev James shandy but a pint of Rev James Bert arrived. When this was pointed out it was immediately put right. Servers are all attentative and friendly so no complaints from us

Booked a table for 7.00pm and ordered a selection of starters and then 2 desserts. Staff were all polite and professional. The food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious! The prawns and the crownie were stunning! Thank you.

A nice pub/restaurant tucked away in a quiet location. Bay windows that overlook the street life.A mix of ales to satisfy all tastes,mine being S.A. I opted for cheese, leek & potato pie for my main meal.No chance for desert,I was sunk.Overall,highly recommended & at reasonable prices too.

Deceptive large pub. Nice old pub feel. Food is good and the two members of staff were helpful and friendly. Dog Friendly 🐕.

We were a large group of 24 booked in for Christmas lunch. It was a fantastic experience from the moment we arrived, welcomed warmly by the wonderful staff, we were all served at the same time (not an easy task) with absolutely beautifully presented delicious food. My fish was cooked to perfection. Congratulations to the chef and his staff. Throughout our meal the staff were helpful and attentive, always smiling, nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic and enjoyable experience from start to finish. A big thank you to all the staff at The Star in Dinas Powis.

Food was fine. Staff helpfully and polite. Overall of the place needs a refurbishment looking very tied and chairs desperately need upholstery on them very stained. And carpet needs more modernisation all round

The whole experience worked. We were welcomed and treated as valued guests. The dining area and bar could not be faulted for layout and cleanliness although staff in shorts and trainers did let it down a little. The food was what you hoped for when eating in a pub and the service matched the food. We will eat and drink with you again.

Good food, good service. reasonable prices. Really well run pub...Clean and tidy and the food is always good quality...Special mention for the mixed grill...great dish for the money. Can't wait for our next visit.

This is the 3rd time we’ve been here in the last 7 days - Once for evening drinks and twice for food. The food had previously gone down hill but since a change of staff and menu it is back to how it used to be - Stunning! Great service from the moment you walk through the door until the moment you leave. The new male member of staff (sorry but I don’t know your name yet) has made a real difference. We’ve already booked for Christmas dinner and will probably come back for a few drinks tonight too. Keep up the great work

Thought all the staff were very friendly and efficient. Food good value for money with a few more options. However, gluten free menu limited if also vegetarian but the vegan curry was lovely

Not tried food yet, but Guinness was very good as it's hard to find a good pint. Barmaid was really sweet with lovely smile, and staff were all attentive and very polite. I will definitely be back soon for food.

Warm welcome when we arrived, served quickly with drinks and shown to our table. Once we'd given our order starters and then our mains we're brought out quickly. Food was lovely, plenty of it and our steaks cooked as asked.

Another fantastic evening at the Star. Usual amazing staff ready to give a warm welcome along with some new friendly faces. Food was excellent! We got to try the specials menu which was delicious, the chicken and chorizo kebab was delicious. 10/10 as always!

Sara the landlady is lovely. The staff are amazing. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Always friendly and welcoming. I couldn’t praise this pub enough. The food is always really nice and very well presented.

What a beautiful place, staff were very polite, helpful and smart. Drinks were well poured and tasty... Atmosphere was warm, happy and relaxed. Definitely worth a visit. Going to order food next time.

An enjoyable Christmas atmosphere but not overly noisy. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We didn’t have the Christmas menu due to the short time span of returning from holiday a few days earlier but the food was still excellent and very enjoyable. It would have been nice to be able to have had the Christmas Fare without having to preorder but understand the logistics behind it. Will be visiting again soon

Pub was very busy at 19:30 but got served quickly. Food was classic pub food, which I can't fault. The staff were friendly and efficient. My only negative is the toilets could be a bit cleaner, but in no way would this put me off revisiting.

We received a very warm welcome. Table was clean and made up per our reservation for 2. Food was really nice and staff checked everything was to our liking and if there was anything else we needed. On exiting we were thanked for coming also, can’t fault the staff in any way.

A lovely warm welcome from a gentleman who asked myself and my daughter what we would like to drink, he knew we were part of a party of 4. He saw to our drinks immediately and brought them over. We were given sufficient time to settle and look at the menu before the gentleman came over and asked if we would like starters, he took our order and took note that we had only ordered 2 starters and tried to do us a favour by telling us there used to be a deal on starters if you ordered 3, he checked the menu but apologised and explained the menu had since changed, but we thought that was really nice of him to check. The food, on each course, was served promptly and was delicious 😋. Overall excellent service and food.

The star Inn was recommended by a colleague for our Christmas meal. What a fantastic choice! Everyone enjoyed their reasonably priced meal, it was warm and cosy. Food was delicious and the staff were very polite

I had vouchers through the post for the star and decided to give them a try. The staff were very helpful polite and professional. The food was delicious . There were 3 of us and we went 2 weeks running and will definitely go again.

I think The Star is quite wonderful! I absolutely sing its praises to everyone - the wheelchair/mobility lift from the car park down into the PUB itself is far and away the most thoughtful and useful thing I have seen local pubs do in years! Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and efficient staff. The food is lovely and always fresh. Prices are very reasonable, and I always feel very welcomed.

The food was absolutely lovely!! I had the fish and chips and the fish was absolutely gorgeous. It was a very hot day and it was quite busy. There was only one waitress on and she looked so hot bless her but I cannot fault the service and the friendly atmosphere

Nice place. Quite busy. The only thing that let it down was the bar staff (possibly manager), she seemed more interested in talking to other people working behind the bar.

Fantastic food and drink. Even better staff. Bartender Louisa was more than helpful and welcoming. We’ll be back very very soon!!!

Dowdy decor. Menu's had *old* food stains on them. Condiments were empty and dirty. Quiet so no excuse. Staff polite. Manager needs to check front of house.

We were a large group and pre ordered Sunday lunch. When we arrived, they checked the order to make sure of any changes, which there were. All went really smoothly and the lunch was great, no complaints from anyone.

Food was amazing as usual very tasty and plentiful. ( Didn't like the new plates, more like bowls). Will definitely be back. Love the new order at table.

Superb! Went for Sunday dinner today and everything was perfect. Best sunday roast I've ever had and way way better than any carvery. Had good vegetarian options for some members of our party too. Very friendly, attentive and sociable staff, everything arrived in good time, excellent prices. Cant fault anything, one of the best pubs around. Breath of fresh air! 10/10
