Atmosphere and service is great - a solid 5/5. Such is the hospitality of south Australians. Design and function is also a 5/5 Unfortunately that's where the accolades stop. I'm hoping this was just a bad day but the food was horrible. The wings were overcooked, burnt and dripping in oil. The burger was beyond terrible, especially what is clearly budget patties advertised as something else. I'm my many pub feeds I'm sorry to say this has categorically been the worse 'food' we've had. I hope this is received as feedback for improvement as that's all it is. I can't fault the people that served us or the atmosphere at all. The food completely killed the night for us. Sorry.

Meal was good, staff were terrible. There was one nice waitress and the rest were incredibly rude. Took full plates of salad bar and full drinks off our table when we went to order and tried to take our meals away before we'd finished. No apologies and kept giving dirty looks from behind the bar. Do not recommend

there were 4 of us we ordered 3 burgers and 1 cardboard box (aka beef schnitzel). the burgers were wet, and i mean moister then an oyster. the beef schnitzel had more crumb then the ocean has sand. you could fold the schnitzel into a box for the chips. the chips had no flavour, which is actually a positive because it was the only thing that didn’t taste bad, the tasted buds thanked them for that.

Main meals were absolutely terrible, garlic prawns on the chicken Schnitzel was the worst tasting, tasted old as. Had to spit out what was in my mouth by the end of the meal. Hair was found in our pizza as well, disgusting. Heard so many good things about this place, but our experience was unfortunate. Hopefully just a bad day. Salad bar was thankfully great.

Met friends for dinner on a Tuesday night..which was seafood night. My expectations were far exceeded. My partner and I ordered the fish on the specials menu..mine crumbed his grilled. We received 2 generous portions of beautiful fish with delicious chips. The salad and veg bar were simple but ample. We will certainly return when we are down south again

Meals very good, generous & mostly fresh produce. Good menu choices. Salad & hot veg bar good. The renovations will really improve this place with outside seating/dining. The current dining room is not particularly charming but gas fireplace adds some ambience .

Went for lunch on a nice 26 degree day . Lunch special was butterfish and chips with salad bar for 12 dollars . The salad bar was one of the best variety salad bars I've ever had including pear and walnut salad. Asian noodles and olive and sundried tomato. The fish was served fairly quickly even tho it was quite busy ! The fish was fresh and the batter was light . Very impressed . Great value and to see the sea outside was refreshing . Will go again. !

First impressions on a cold and wet night were good. A good atmosphere and a gas fire burning. Staff at the counter were very nice and granted our request to sit by the fire despite the reserved sign. Good menu and wine list. We ordered an entree and a main each. The entrees came out in good time, (garlic bread and crumbed scallops). Thats when things went pear shaped. Less than three minutes later the mains arrived. My wife had taken mouthful of bread, whilst I had finished the first scallop. I pointed out that it was reasonable to expect a break between courses, and that a main arriving in the middle of the entree was a bit rich. The response was surprising, firstly she pointed out that the kitchen was under pressure to get food out, secondly I was advised that the meals could be taken back to the kitchen, but that they would be cold when they came back out. A later discussion with the manager resulted in an apology and the offer of a complimentary dessert (not accepted on this occasion). I observed that had I ordered a dessert - I would have ended up with three course on the table at the same time. In conclusion, good atmosphere and good food, sadly the service from both kitchen and serving staff made the experience rather poor. Finally, my heart always goes out to the managers, who by virtue of position are required to apologise for the bad behaviours of others.

The service was lovely. Ordered oysters Kirkpatrick but got the oysters that killed Patrick. They smelt quite fishy and were quite cloudy perhaps right on the cusp of being bad. Only ate 2 out of the 6. Buyer beware. The beer and the coke were fine. Will try again at some stage

I feel the standards have dropped at this venue. I had lunch from the specials board and the pork roast was cold with very thick gravy and dry roast potatoes. The salad and veg bar is good but nothing special. My partner had fish and chips and the chips were all odd shapes and sizes and very dry as though they were left over from the previous day and reheated. The staff were ok but not as friendly or as young as previous visits and did not make us feel welcome. Luckily there is lots of competition in the area.

Had tea there twice in the last week. Meals and salad bar were really good. The only thing that spoiled the night was the natzi lady they seem to have in charge. So rude, didn't smile and felt she was watching us the whole night. We spent over $100 there not sure what more she wanted but made us really feel uncomfortable. Customer Service with a smile would be nice. The bar staff were super friendly and smiling.

The wife enjoyed her seafood trio, but my rump steak was tougher than my teeth and their steak knife, worst steak I have had in a very long time.

One of our favorite places to go. I always look forward to their fish and chips. However on our last visit the fish was clearly out of a frozen pack. The shape gave it away. Very disappointed. Everything else was fine.

Very disappointing Chicken and Prawn Pad Thai meals 2 of us ordered Sat night the Prawns and chicken were over cooked and dry the sauce was a lot darker than Pad Thais with no flavour unlike others we've had before and far too many crushed nuts (covered half the bowl) We left almost all of them both and mentioned politely to the waitress our reasons. The 3rd meal was advertised as a medium curry however my husband said it was very hot but nice. On a positive note the salad/veg bar, unlike the Pad Thais looked and tasted very fresh and was nice. Also the 4th meal for our table the rump steak was good. We were also there at 5.45 before they got busy.

Scotch fillet was one of the best I've had but sadly mushroom sauce was quite spicy, infact everyone on our large table said their sauces and gravys were all way to spicy and these were all different flavours and everyone said it spoilt an otherwise lovely meal

Warm and cosy on an icy day. Cheerful staff. A++ for the battered fish. Apopular place for the seniors. Room for my walker. Be very careful coming out and turning towards Goolwa. The view of traffic is often obstructed by 4WDs parked near the entrance Good, reliable and consistent standard.

Had the chicken schnitzel with pepper gravy. Food was delist but when eating the chips I noticed a black hair underneath them. It put me off eating them. Still had the schnitzel though

Lovely salads and hot vegetables bar to go with any meal ordered. Daily specials exceptionally well priced, especially considering they include the salads and hot vegetables bar and no restrictions on going back for a second helping. Sunday Roast beef best ever, exceptionally tender! I would certainly recommend it to the budget conscious, looking for a good casual meal out if you are happy to go with their specials of the day. Other meals are of course available for more $. There is also a separate room for those who want to hold a bigger function group ie birthday, etc.

1st time been there since renovations verynice except for one complaint with a walker it was very hard to be able to use ramp at front as had to push walker over grass to negotiate can't walk round road as trouble with mobility luck happen there were kind patron's there to help me thank you!!!.Would like something done before my next visit.

Visiting the area for a friends wedding and caught up with friends here. The staff were amazing and so friendly and were able to easily cater for our large group of 20 adults and kids. Food came out quite quickly considering how busy it was. Would recommend and visit again the next time i visit Middleton.

Evening meal, roast o.t.d,lamb,plentiful good tender,with mint jelly and roast spuds, large range of vegetables and salad, to choose from v.enjoyable ! Eton mess to follow! Delightful 😊

Had a great meal here on the long weekend. They were extremely busy, however the food was top notch, very efficient, lovely friendly staff. Veg and salad bar very fresh. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely fantastic meals today You can never go wrong with roast of the day, either choice of lamb or pork, both were superb. Also a great selection from the salads or hot veggies bar. We will definitely go back again. Great value for money. Thanks Erika

Fast service and friendly service. Heaps good salad bar. The meal I had which was the wagu special was less than ordinary.

Decent pub, average food. Has a really good, well stocked new drive thru, super friendly staff.

Easy to park the car. Good selection on menu even though they ran out of what I wanted. Good atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

We were recommended by the local taxi driver to try the Tavern for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Loved the option of just having the veggie/salad bar which 2 of us chose. Food was fresh and tasty. Would go there again.

Had the lunch special fish and salad and hot veg. bar . Food was very good and great value. It came quickly too. Young cashier was helpful and lovely. Room was comfortable.

Went here for lunch with friends... it was a hot day so we just had the salad bar. It was lovely, good selection and we could have gone back if we wanted more. We shared a large bowl of chips between us, and with the salad it made it a great Sunday lunch. We will be going again for sure and would recommend anyone to try the Middleton Tavern.

Quick lunch with a friend turned into a long lunch. Very friendly service . We had the lunch special which I thought was great value, $20 for a selection of mains , a choice of dessert and the salad bar. Can't beat that value Venue was clean and comfortable.

Had lunch here with my wife. Steak was cooked perfectly and both meals were a good size. The salad bar is extensive with a great variety of food to choose from. Good value for the price. Will definitely go back.

Big pub with lots of tables. Nice food, they have some nice dishes so it offers a big of different experience then your regular pub. Nice round tables are very good for large groups. Service was excellent! Lots of parking too.

Good food, lots of choice, all meals come with access to the salad/vege bar. Pleasant family dining area plus outside area if you prefer. Meals are honest pub classics, large size, all served quickly. Good range of drinks available.

The tavern is okay for a cheap easy meal but nothing outstanding. It doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a country dining tavern so I guess that’s okay. The food was fine and tasty, and the atmosphere a little basic.

Couldn't believe how fast the meals came out until I went to eat it, I ordered the seafood trio at $29 tasted like frozen boxed seafood from aldi. When I asked if it was fresh and battered in house the waitress couldn't even answer. I could have cooked it better at home as it tasted like it was just microwaved and quickly deep-fried completely inedible. Save your cash and just get fish and chips from the local. Lucky to get 1 star

Must admit a few weeks ago food was very ordinary, went there last Wednesday for lunch and had plum chicken casserole with rice, best ever meal, could not fault it. Bistro was great as well

Great place!! Been twice in the last week, and both times was great!! Food was excellent, the place is kid friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic!! Well done!! And we’ll definitely come back after all the alterations are finished !!

Friendly staff and a nice clean set out dining room. That's where the good ended, the food was terrible actually beyond terrible. Ordered a beef schnitzel, when it came out it looked like a flap of cardboard box and tasted just as bad. The meal was returned and asked for the fish to replace the meal. This fish tasted and seemed like it came out of a box thawed from frozen, something from a supermarket. I had expected much more and heard some good feedback from friends that had eaten there before. I will not be going back and will be unable to recommend. I wish I had of seen the reviews before I went as I would not have gone. Please use this as feedback only, look at what you are putting out and use fresh locally sourced produce.

Was not too bad food, but a staff member was rude in asking for mask. After this Thursday I still will not darken the doors until they change their tune towards patrons

Firendly staff, it has salad bar with plenty of options, the prices are relativly low, but for most of the plates I had, the food quality is below average. Overall, it is a reasonably OK economic pub.
