Such a nice place to visit with your little one! We enjoyed ourselves so much. The zoo is very clean, tidy and well kept. I would much rather recommend this zoo than the Pretoria zoo. Most importantly, the animals look healthy and well looked after!! Just a tip if you do plan to visit; make sure to be there before 10 am if you want to avoid a long queue in peak season.

Great place friendly staff. Very neat. All enclosed areas are very neat and clean. These people truly care about every animal that they have. Great place to have a fun day out with the fa family. You can see all animals are well fed and looked after. Would go back anytime...

You can see animals in close distance,in certain time you can experience owl sitting on your arms or head, snakes on your shoulder. Small zoo but worthy to visit with kids worthy to watch alone, mall of Africa is around 5 KM, taxis can be requested using Bolt app. Restaurants, cool drinks available inside zoo. 2 restrooms available, 1 in entrance and 1 in the other end. 110 rands entrance fee for adults .

The cages and animals seem well cared for. There are trees and plants in the cages. The walkways make it easy to walk around and the 18 month old walked a lot without complaining and loved the play area The toasted chicken sandwich was not great, couldn't past the first quarter, tasted like rancid oil. Perhaps pack a picnic lunch but get cold drink chips and ice vre there They have a cute gift shop too. The animals are mostly quite visible. They are mainly rescues. The cats monkeys and birds are great. There Were no rhinos or giraffes etc. a lovely day out. Enjoy. Take hats and sunscreen

What a lovely place, the cages are very clean and has everything the animals need. Very friendly staff. The restaurant makes lovely food and it is very affordable. Vodka (the dog) is so cute and very well mannered. My favorite was the owls that comes and sit on you arms and head what a wonderful experience! Can't wait to visit again.

Such a wonderful zoo with an added value of saving animals and rehabilitating them. It’s my 3rd time to the zoo but I enjoy it again and again every single time. Due to COVID, petting is not available as was in the past. In addition there are no cat cubs at all at the moment. We did enjoy all animals that were absolutely lovely. In addition, you can find some animals outside the cages such as parrots that will gladly sit on you and they’re very talkative. I want to send a huge thanks to the zoo staff who helped us so much with a ride to Africa Mall as we were stuck for an hour without the ability to get any Uber or taxi. They did it with pure heart and which for me symbolize this whole place.

Gorgeous creatures, interesting & sad stories behind how each was rescued. Staff come across as genuinely caring. Special to be able to get that close to see and appreciate some incredibly rare and amazing animals.

It was a great experience. The place is well kept and the animals are well taken care of. You can watch the feedings go into the owl cage. You can feed bunnies and meerkats as well as holding a snake. It's actually better than visiting larger zoos as you can get closer to the animals and it feels more interactive. It's great if you go with friends or family to enjoy the whole day out. There is place to sit and you are allowed to bring your own things, such as meat to have a braai.

We loved the Park. The kids enjoyed themselves. We got to handle the snakes and hold the cockatoo. The Park is well maintained, the animals look loved and cared for. The staff is so kind and respectful. There are enough shaded places to sit and the Park is a good size, ensuring that you get to see all animals. Keep up the great work staff and management !

I was very surprised to find such a gem in Gauteng. I'm normally not one for zoos but I understand It is a sanctuary and the animals are very well looked after. The cages are relatively big and are Very Well Maintained and Super Clean. I Was Pleasantly Surprised and can Recommend to anyone wanting to visit it.

I enjoyed being at Lory Park Zoo, because it was so peaceful and a very beautiful site for eye's and enjoyment. There is a lot of animals and got to hold and touch some😍. I highly recommend this place. Suitable for kids and adults to learn on the nature of a Zoo. There's also a kids play section. Also a place to buy food inside, with places to sit after you have viewed the animals, which is the park😍. So overall we were happy with great service.

Beautiful place with a lot of animals! It looks small from the outside but big inside. There are strange and exotic birds I have never seen before. It is amazing to see tge big cats so up close. I definitely recommend buying super worms to feed the Meerkats, letting the owls sit on you and holding a python around your neck! Amazing place🤩

Had my daughter's birthday party there. Both the kids and adults loved it. Lots of improvement to be done in terms of infrastructure and the road leading to the Zoo needs to be properly fixed. Zoo inside very clean, intimate, value for money and very convenient. Hopefully cub interaction will be brought back with regulations being eased up.

Treacherous drive-way. Staff at the ticket office were uninterested. Tiny enclosures, especially for the big cats. Large variety in this small space. Grubby play area. Pretty interactive. For the price of entry you might want to consider Johannesburg Zoo or better still, Montecasino Bird Park.

The entrance the Zoo is the only thing that's an issue. The place is very neat and clean and is maintained well. The residents of the Zoo are well looked after. Groomed and fed well. A great experience for all age groups. Was a pleasant visit. Entrance was standard R100 per person.

A very different experience from JHB and Pretoria zoo in the sense that you are in close proximity in viewing the animals. Mostly big cats and Birds as well and Gibbons and some reptiles. Really well maintained enclosures, there are eating areas and animal encounters can be arranged. Braai facilities available too. Highly recommended if you want to get close to some big cats.

Such a privilege to see our wild up close. The animals are well looked after. Informative boards. Lovely day out.

Small, well kept animal sanctuary The animals are well taken care of and the zoo is clean. There are no animal encounters at the moment but even without that our 5 year old had a great time. It seems that some parts are under construction which, when done, should add positively to the feel of the place. There is enough space for people to spread out and a cafe with a lot of seating for lunch. The initial reception/parking bay area and entrance road could use an upgrade but other than that a good Saturday morning family outing.

We enjoyed our time at Lory Park Zoo. There are different species of animals and birds. I was excited to see the iguana live (since I used to see it in movies). ,We also enjoyed the greeting by parrots and the show put up by one of the flamingos and one of big birds 😀 Unfortunately, the sun was hot - some animals had gone into their shelters for the shade. The road to the zoo is unfortunately not in a good condition.

A beautiful zoo. Been coming here since I was little. Now I bring my cousins here . Big and open and very clean and follows covid rules . The zoo owners Ed and Matty are amazing people. All big enclosures for the animals. Amazing. Love coming to Lory Park Zoo . I'm 20 and still like a little girl when I come here . Best zoo in midrand.

Had such a nice time at this hidden gem in Midrand. Never knew about this place and would definitely had gone there a long time ago. The animals are in immaculate condition and the Zoo is neat, clean and tidy. The staff is super friendly and very informative. They can howerever put some work into the road leading to the zoo, but that is a very small discomfort in regards to what you get to experience there. Keep up the graet work. You will be seeing us again soon.

Nice place to visit and pass time with family. Zoo is well kept. Just the space is limited for the animals to move like the tiger, lion, cheetah etc their cages are small so the animals can't move much in their enclosures

I loved the animal experience and the atmosphere offered by the place and the kids loved it too however I found the manner in which the staff at the cafe area dealt with us, very rude and I don't want to bring in race but the 2 incidents which were specifically directed at people of color made me wonder. We might have been ignorant for not knowing some of the rules but if you work with people from my understanding there's a way in which you address issues. You don't shout especially if there's kids around. I would've loved to go back but unfortunately that ncounter with the staff at the cafe(the rest were pleasant enough) left a bitter taste in my mouth.

The animals are well looked after. There is a small play area for toddlers and a shop to get something small to eat. The service of good allover however they can invest in a megaphone so when they do the talks about the lion's, and other big cats everybody can hear them.

Kids can enjoy ice cream, feeds rabbits and enjoy predators and lots of animals up close. Animals we would like to list: Fish Eagle Vultures Flamingos Small birds Kookaburra Different owls (huge and medium size) Snakes Monkeys Lions White Lions Tiger Jaguar Leopard

We would love to Thank Lorry Park Zoo for engaging our youth in Animal time and education. I believe that this is one of the most beautiful Zoos in South Africa right in the heart of President Park Midrand Healthy fresh beautiful Lively Colourful various types of Reptiles to Bird Species, From Giant Boa snakes to Fish Eagles , Jaguar to Rabbit. 26 Children from NJCH and NLC children’s orphanages in President Park on 1 July 2023 where treated to a lunch outing and some lollies after partaking in The 1st Local Community Clean up campaign just 3 km from Lory Park Zoo. The kitchen makes lovely fresh food , with order numbers being called out in the Tea Garden. I enjoyed a Sammie and The Youth had hotdogs. What a treat The staff are very special and grounded. To all the volunteers who assisted in holding snakes , getting the owls to fly on heads and arms , keep the gate secure , lion feeding and lion talks thank you thank you from the Top of our hearts Thanks for Everything

The really nice thing about this zoo is that the kids can see the animals up close. The big cats are no more than 2 m from you. The zoo is well maintained and clean. The informative signs about the animal are very useful and good to educate the kids. The enclosures are bit small for the larger animals but I guess they get used to it

I've been following them on Facebook and absolutely love how much they love and care for the animals. You also see it when you get to the zoo. There is a lot to see. A wide range of birds, reptiles and predator cats. I love how you can also interact with the animals and you get to see the big cats feed at 3pm everyday. Entrance is R110 for adults and R80 for kids. You can also buy worms for the meerkats you see at the entrance. Loved the experience. Will definitely be going back.

It's a great, easy to navigate zoo that isn't too big that you get tired of walking half way through. The bathrooms really need a good clean and refurbishment. In general the staff could seem a little happier to be there or at least welcoming. Especially with kids excited about entering, the stern greeting from the ticket counter was a bit of a negative aspect as well. The gap in paving near the lion enclosure is dangerous. Carrying my son, I almost fell but did hurt my ankle by accidently steeping into it.

A lovely tea garden offers light lunches, snacks, and refreshments, while a jungle gym and animal petting play area will keep kids entertained for hours. Lory Park caters for school tours and is involved in a number of community outreach programs within the Midrand community. ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ———————— Other animals you can expect to see here include Siberian tigers, Bengal tigers, cheetah, lynx, jaguar, lion, leopard, puma, dwarf mongoose, honey badger, and caracal. Don’t miss out on the reptile enclosures to spot reptiles such as the bearded dragon, snakes, green iguana, leopard tortoise, and Nile crocodile. 🐊 🐊 🐊 ————————

A neat little zoo just outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. They've got a wide variety of big cats, birds and reptiles. They have a big picnic area with tables and chairs and braai facilities with lions in view. We enjoyed getting watch when they fed the animals as well. The restrooms are clean and they even offer sanitizer throughout the park. An on site shop is available. It's a bit of a bumpy ride going in but a wonderful experience once you're there.

This zoo is quite entertaining for a small family. There's a few of animals to see here with limited options. However, it is a good place to chill and relax for a few hours here during the weekend. Although not their fault (I think), the road towards the gate of the zoo is terrible.

Lovely safe experience. You can have a picnic as well. Wide variety of animals and lots of fun for the little ones. It is a bit small tho and the actual road by the park is terrible with big jagged stones. Important to mention as people with cars that aren't bakkie or SUV's will have to be careful when entering. The park can do more to pave that portion.

Lory Park Zoo boasts an amazing range of animals from birds to reptiles and of course the cat family. The Zoo has an exhibition for each group of animals: bird sanctuary, reptile exhibit, the wild cats family and a few hidden gems along the way such as Koi, Meerkats, rabbits and an owl exhibit (Signed as Hogwarts mail room from Harry Potter) which allows visitors to take pictures with owls. The park also allows for its visitors to watch while they feed the wild cats: lions, leopards, jaguars and others. The park has a truck shop as well as a fast foods stall with delights such as fried potato chips and sandwiches. Children can also feed the bunnies at the park. A wonderful place for a family trip!

I am not really a fan of animals in captivity however, Lockdown has forced parents to get out and entertain kids in not normal ways and rather animals in captivity than hunted in the wild for sport. Lory Park is a mini zoo. Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, Cheetahs and you get to see them up close. Animals are looked after aswell. When they fully operational you can even braai there etc. Great for a day out of the new norm.

Absolutely amazing zoo. Cages are super clean and all the animals are very well looked after. Great place for kids to go see all the big and small animals. Zoo keepers interact and are very friendly, you will often be able to hold some of the reptiles and see the feeding of all the big cats

Privately funded - best value for money / family-value attraction you can visit. Staff are amazing, young students volunteering their time, food is pricey but delicious nonetheless, along with great animal interactions for the kids and educational talks.

Lovely to see the animals up close, although the enclosures seem incredibly small. Animals look well fed and rested. Not sure about capacity control as there were many families with many children, which made social distancing almost impossible.

It's ok but.... if you want a quick tour of some animals, up close experience with petting and feeding that is friendly for the whole family then this is the place. To see everything the place has to offer it's about 2 hours max. This will cost you R300 for 2 adults and a child under 12. The Cafe didn't offer a lot of options for food and service was not the best to be honest. If you can rather bring your own food. They have braai areas as well. But to keep eagles and vultures in cages that dont allow them to even fly and say that is protection is baffling to say the least. I am only using these as examples but this applies to other animals there as well. Some of these animals are not even endangered to justify the captivity at the very least 😔. Its the poachers that need capturing not the animals.

Beautiful little zoo. I can especially recommend it for little toddlers as its just the right size and there's a bunny petting area which is the bomb 😄 Also, its a sanctuary, so you don't have to feel bad for caged animals. The staff is very friendly and you can feel that their hearts are in this little zoo.

100% COVID-19 compliant and save 😷👍 Clean and well kept cages. The animals are really well looked after ⭐ It's not a big Zoo but it boasts a good variety to see and explore. Good outing for the family, our kids loved petting the bunnies. We grabbed lunch from the cafeteria but the venue also have picnic areas and braai facilities that can be rented for parties.

Excellent place to take the kids. The animals are in Excellent condition and very well taken care of. The enclosures are large and well equipped for each animal's needs. Lory Park has gone the extra mile to paint beautiful pictures and paintings on some of the walls of the enclosures to add to the beauty and environment of the enclosures. Some reptile tanks have lovely artificial flowers and another one has artificial butterflies. An absolute delight for viewing. The place is very clean with enough place to sit for a snack or picnic. There is a fastfood deli and a small curio shop. For the extra energetic kids there is a playground. Not to forget the Bunny park. We had a very enjoyable day.

  • 4/5 CohenM 3 years ago on Google
Well priced (R110 per adult and free for kids under 2). There are a few stalls selling fast food and lots of different animals to see. The bunny area costs an extra R10 per adult but its worth it for the kids. Its not extremely big like JHB ZOO but is worth the trip. Decent amount of parking but the short dirt road entrance needs work.

  • 5/5 Bronwyn B. 3 years ago on Google
Animal rehabilitation centre, great spot for the children. You can feed the bunnies for an extra small fee. They also have a section where owls can sit on your arms which was a good experience and opportunity for great photos. Clean

  • 4/5 Maryke Jansen van V. 3 years ago on Google
Small, very good for toddlers and small children where you may feel you cannot spend the entire day at the zoo yet. The 'tea garden' at the back has everything you need for a light lunch or snack, and even a gift shop. You can feed 2 of the animals upon entering, when buying meal worms for snacks at the entrance, and there is a small play area close to the tea garden. The animals seem well looked after and healthy, even though the cages seem a bit small for the large cats, which saddens me. The price was a bit high for me, for the small size and limited amount of time you can spend there, but I am hoping that the money is well spent, as the place is clean and beautiful.

One of the best Zoo's I've been to... Though it is small... It delivers exactly what they advertise... I enjoyed watching the big cats especially the white lions! The zoo is never crowded... They offer reasonably priced food in a food court with enough room for most of their visitors to sit comfortably... And just as an added feature, the zoo is beautiful and has a relaxing vibe about it... Great for taking pix...

There are a variety of animals that are cared for here. There are a few animals that the public can interact with. A good way of introducing and teaching children about awild life. Only personal drawback is that I feel that the bigger cats need more space, but they do appear well loved by those who have adopted and who look after them.

Had a great time today, animals are well kept, the cages are huge and clean. A fun family place. Just one thing that was disappointed, was the food from the restaurant. We had the chicken burgers. It was soo dry that i could not finish it. And for that price (without chips, because they don't serve slap chippies) i would have like a nice juicy burger with a fresh burger bun. Otherwise was it n perfect day!
