Recently
experienced
two
visits
in
the
ER
which
could
not
be
more
different.
The
first
time,
I
was
treated
with
respect
by
the
nursing
staff
and
the
doctors
appeared
knowledgeable
and
concerned.
I
was
in
severe
pain
and
quickly
seen
by
someone
to
triage,
find
me
a
place
to
receive
tests
and
medication.
They
could
not
find
what
was
causing
my
pain
but
admitted
me
for
observation
as
precaution.
Everyone
appeared
genuine,
caring
and
acted
with
knowledge
and
compassion.
The
second
visit
occurred
3
days
after
the
first,
when
I
was
brought
in
via
ambulance
experiencing
the
same
symptoms
and
pain.
The
EMTs
were
well
trained
and
sympathetic,
doing
what
they
could
to
get
me
in
and
seen
in
a
quick
manner.
After
an
initial
assessment
I
was
sent
to
wait
in
the
lobby
even
though
there
appeared
to
be
plenty
of
room
for
me
to
wait
there
for
the
testing
required.
I
watched
as
people
in
severe
distress
and
other
conditions
were
not
addressed
at
all.
Seen
by
a
doctor
only
briefly
in
the
lobby,
we
sat
and
waited.
In
the
meantime
my
pain
was
at
times
difficult
but
I
was
told
by
one
of
the
nurses
that
I
was
being
too
dramatic.
I
was
accused
by
another
run
or
nursing
tech
to
have
AMA'd
on
the
last
trip
and
to
just
sit
down.
I
took
my
seat
and
dug
my
fingers
in
my
hand
to
not
appear
in
pain.
Most
notably
a
woman
who
was
clearly
homeless,
in
distress
and
needing
physiological
help
was
never
seen
and
then
after
an
hour
or
two
was
told
loudly
to
the
entire
waiting
area
that
she
was
discharged
and
could
go
home.
The
dismissal
was
rude,
abusive
and
cold
hearted.
I
am
not
an
expert
nor
do
I
know
all
the
details
but
I
was
disgusted.
After
6
hours,
they
allowed
me
to
go
home.
Thankfully
I
have
one,
and
we
left
quickly.
I
will
likely
never
visit
this
hospital
again
for
any
sort
of
care.
It's
a
pity
because
I
do
believe
they
have
qualified
folks
just
a
little
light
on
compassion.
