5/5 Green E. 1 year ago on Google
It
is
one
of
the
largest
projects
of
this
type
in
Poland,
which
shows
and
promotes
the
green
face
of
Silesia
and
contributes
to
the
protection
of
the
rich
nature
of
these
areas.
The
Silesian
Botanical
Garden
has
been
created
since
the
mid-1990s
in
Mikołów-Mokre,
among
others,
in
the
area
of
a
former
military
unit.
This
place
was
chosen
because
of
its
extraordinary
natural
values,
abundance
of
unique
plants
and
interesting
animals.
Where
the
shelter
used
to
be,
a
modern
building
of
the
Nature
and
Ecological
Education
Center
with
an
observation
tower
was
built.
There
are
two
audiovisual
rooms,
a
library,
a
Seed
Bank,
laboratories
and
teaching
rooms,
and
a
phytotron,
used
to
study
the
development
of
plants
in
various
climatic
conditions.
Educational
paths
and
plant
collections
have
been
created
in
the
garden,
e.g.
ornamental
trees
and
shrubs,
heathers,
vines,
coastal
and
aquatic
plants.
A
great
attraction
are
the
alleys
of
fruit
trees,
among
which
you
can
find
old
varieties
of
apple,
pear,
plum
and
cherry
trees.
The
orchard
is
pleasing
to
the
eye
and
will
preserve
the
taste
of
old
fruit
for
future
generations.
The
garden
is
also
an
important
center
popularizing
natural
and
ecological
knowledge,
as
well
as
a
valued
research
and
publishing
center.
Thanks
to
the
efforts
of
its
employees,
this
place
is
eagerly
visited
by
the
inhabitants
of
the
region,
who
come
here
not
only
for
knowledge,
but
also
for
relaxation.
