Flashy
but
insipid.
If
you’re
coming
to
The
Manzoni
to
eat,
please
don’t.
The
other
reviews
are
unfortunately
right.
At
first,
we
were
captivated
by
the
restaurant’s
branding,
how
easy
it
was
to
book
a
table,
how
clean
the
establishment
was,
and
how
chic
the
decor
of
the
restaurant
was.
In
fact,
if
you
take
the
food
&
wine
component
out
of
this
restaurant,
it
would
be
a
5/5.
Our
waiter
was
nothing
but
nice.
But
since
food
&
wine
should
be
the
core
reason
why
you
go
to
a
restaurant
in
the
first
place,
I
can’t
give
this
place
more
than
2
stars.
We
ordered
the
7-course
tasting
menu
and
it
started
off
wrong.
The
first
aperitivo
was
a
shrimp
carpaccio
with
patè.
The
carpaccio
was
lukewarm
and
the
patè
was
so
gamey
that
the
dish
together
was
so
offputting.
We
had
a
series
of
small
plates
after
that,
all
which
tasted
bland
and
insipid.
At
this
point,
we
also
noticed
the
courses
began
taking
longer
as
the
menu
went
by,
even
though
the
restaurant
was
only
half
booked
on
a
Saturday
night.
By
the
time
we
got
to
the
first
secondo
(main),
which
was
supposed
to
be
a
red
mullet,
we
received
one
of
the
worst
dishes
I’ve
ever
tasted.
The
fish
was
cooked
nicely
from
the
one
bite
I
had,
but
the
underlying
sauteed
spinach
was
so
spicy
we
had
to
return
the
whole
dish.
The
chef
later
apologized
explaining
they
had
dropped
a
whole
case
of
white
pepper
in
the
mix.
Sending
out
a
dish
without
tasting?
Unacceptable.
They
did
make
up
for
the
mistake
by
sending
their
version
of
a
Milanese,
which
I
have
to
say
was
cooked
perfectly
(sous
vide
according
to
them)
-
it
unfortunately
included
a
limoncello
custard
as
the
sauce,
which
felt
like
it
did
not
belong
on
the
dish
at
all
since
it
overpowered
it
entirely.
Finally,
we
had
a
dessert
which
was
so
amateur
tasting
it
felt
like
it
was
a
cheap
candy
bar
that
had
been
unwrapped
and
put
on
a
plate.
Listen,
I’m
not
going
to
play
food
critic
here,
but
given
how
much
we
spent
on
this
meal
we
had
high
expectations.
Would
I
come
back
here?
Sure,
but
I
would
likely
not
eat
here
again
and
just
have
drinks
with
friends.
Spare
yourself,
do
not
recommend
eating
here.
